Energetic 2:
"Why had she felt it necessary to start attending U.A. when her chronological self was 12?

Life will do that to you when you meet your future classmates as a 4-year-old in their last year of high school and they coo over your cuteness and tell how awesome you're going to be."

Chapter 1: Energetic 2

Chapter Text

Mira was staring at the computer screen with blurry eyes, forcing herself to understand what the lines and lines of analysis meant and how she should apply it for the string of power cut-offs in their area. It technically wasn't meant for her to understand yet. Her 16-year-old self was currently attending her second year of U.A. and a 14-year-old solving the future's cases for herself wasn't the smartest solution ever.

Or it wouldn't be smart if she wasn't so used to it and knew she should do it. Rina's ability to know safe times for switching was a necessity but because of her she did have the knowledge. If Mira wasn't supposed to be doing this, Rina would scold her and put her where she was actually supposed to be.

Her friends at this point in the future still didn't understand completely how she kept things straight in her head when they couldn't and they lived chronologically. Some or most never might.

Her friends in the past were just learning what they did get at the moment. Yes, she had sporadically attended U.A. as a little kid in the wrong order. Yes, she'd been doing hero work since she was ten and needed her 12-year-old self for Middle School and said 12-year-old hung out in Graduated Pro Hero Time since the 15-year-old one was needed for the first year of U.A. No, she didn't have much trouble understanding higher concepts as a ten-year-old which gave Aizawa-sensei a constant source of bafflement that would get resolved in the future.

Why had she felt it necessary to start attending U.A. when her chronological self was 12?

Life will do that to you when you meet your future classmates as a 4-year-old in their last year of high school and they coo over your cuteness and tell how awesome you're going to be. She wasn't willing to scrap an 'awesome' timeline.

It took Mira a second to realize someone was knocking on the door of her future office. She rubbed her eyes and turned her head towards the sound.

"Come in!" she called out.

A head of green fluff poked its way in and smiled.

"Oh, I didn't realize it was middle-school you. I guess you don't want coffee?" Izuku stepped through with a steaming cup of contaminated tar some people called an energy boost in his hand.

Mira stared. Her nose wrinkled.

"I… actually drink that here?"

Her best friend this life snickered, "Only when you're so stuck you need a jolt."

She scoffed. It would be murder on her tongue. The girl didn't envy her future self, whether she was sixteen or eighteen. She did envy the energetic rush they'd get from it, though. Just not enough to drink it herself.

Izuku was staring at her. Intently. She slowly tilted her head in question.

"...When have you last slept?" he provided, allowing a small frown of concern to grace his forehead.

Mira had to think about it. That wasn't a good sign. Rina was the one who ended up calculating.

"It's been daytime for twenty-seven hours -ish…", she said at last.

That meant a school day, another half of a school day in hero school, an afternoon with younger Izuku and Katsuki, some random trip to when Dadzawa was doing paperwork so a more resourceful future her could win in a spar, and now to a work-day with a frustrating essay and Izu bringing her future self motor oil to keep running. Boy, had she had energy.

Izuku's frown became more pronounced. Before she thought to react he placed the coffee down and picked her off the comfortable office chair in one fluid movement. She squawked before surrendering to a sleepiness induced dizzy spell and leaning her head against his shoulder with a groan.

"That's it, you're sleeping", he ordered, carrying her out of the room to a couch designed for exactly this purpose. Usually she didn't even have to be told, though.

Heh. There were occasions it was occupied by a yellow sleeping bag and Mira decided not to care, climbing to sleep on top of her technically adoptive father. The habit had started when she was so young… It was telling that she sometimes woke up inside the sleeping bag after the fact. She'd yet to get to the time he apparently kept pushing her off. It was probably soon which made her want to pout.

Her last memory from that point was a hand carding through her hair to get them into poofy ponytails to hide the small horns sticking out. She hummed appreciatively. It wouldn't do for past people to make another connection between her and her 'mother' after all…

...She woke up to a sudden upright position and a fall to her knees, then back, in sand. The girl groaned and looked up to the sky and a dissipating white cloud, pouting. She didn't feel like she'd slept much. Still, she pushed herself up and went to meet Izu at what was most likely training with All Might. Again.

He noticed her when she was halfway there. Izu ran up and pulled her along with so much cheer and enthusiastic energy that she felt grumpy. Not that it showed on her face. Younger Izuku was more susceptible to thinking everything was his fault.

He babbled on and Mira focused, giving halfway absent replies.

Until he suddenly stopped and stared at her with an unnervingly deja vu inducing expression of concern. She barely tried to argue with taking the day off from sparring before or after cleaning up the beach. He pushed her down physically when she didn't comply and Mira couldn't help but think he hadn't changed too much. A smile played on her lips.

"You'll watch over me with Yagi-san, right?"

The clean-up-duty Izu threw his school uniform jacket over her as a blanket after pillowing his hoodie under her head.

"Of course!", his grin was All Might worthy, " Sleep , Mira!"

And she shut her eyes again, grateful for the chance and feeling warm that Izu was there to make sure she could feel as energetic as those around her at least sometimes .
