The sky has gone dark and for the umpteenth time of the week, the alchemist looked up longingly for signs of the troops returning back from the fight against the Abyss Order. News had passed far and wide that the ending might not be as calculated as expected, but the green-haired girl still held out hope for the knights of Monstadt.
Particularly.. Her.
Listening to how the wind sang lonesomely avast the broad painting above, a loud horn suddenly blared through the night.
The troops had finally made its way back home. And the alchemist couldn’t be more elated to see her Noelle by her side again.
Quickly putting away her laboratory equipment, she rushed to the front gates. Ecstasy flowed off as soon as the image of a beaten-down knight crossed paths with the transparent lenses.
“NOELLE!!”
Deer ears sprouted up instantly, a rare sight for others but one so common for the Favonius knight to recognise her from the distance.
“Su--cro-se..” The girl managed to cough out the alchemist’s name before kneeling onto the ground, struggling to get up on her own two feet afterwards as she slowly passed out in her girlfriend’s arms.
---
“Noelle, how are you feeling?”
“Do you need any warm water?”
“I took off your armour so you could rest more comfortably onto the bed.”
“Isn’t it-”
Words poured out from the shy girl’s mouth the second the knight opened her eyes once more. As more questions buzzed by her ears, Noelle hesitantly pulled out her hand to shush the demi-human.
“Honey, it’s not so bad. I haven’t died yet.” The female knight chuckled, only to be frowned at by the worried deer.
“You’re one to talk! Who would’ve passed out in the middle of the walkway like you? At least the other soldiers made it to the healing camp where Barbara was, only you were dragged here thanks to some of my Magi that I’ve stored up in the forbidden bottles.” The shorter girl huffed in annoyance. This wasn’t the first time they didn’t see eye-to-eye with something, and it definitely wasn’t the last.
“Calm down, dear. With you stuttering out of control like that, even Acting Grand Master Jean would be surprised by the appearance of a second mini-me. Following after Amber’s Baron Bunny.. Ahaha~” The injury finally caught up to Noelle, inciting several sequences of coughs out of her now fragile body resting limply against the body of a smaller figure.
“You. You have no idea how worried I am for you from the beginning of it all. And when did you learn how to smile after you’ve been beaten up like that? Has Amber’s cheerfulness got into you that much?” Sucrose said with a hinge of jealousy as she held the maiden up.
“I would leave no stones unturned. For you, sweetie..” With that, the knight seemed to have spoken her last words for the day as the alchemist pulled the blanket up on her.
“Sleep well, Noelle.” Leaning down gently, a kiss mark slowly appeared on the forehead of the knight, and warm giggles ensued.
“Well this is a first. I got Sucrose’s first kiss.. Aaaa~” Noelle screamed in happiness silently while the doors closed on her with a thud.
“It seems like she changed, in a different way. But honestly that’s the first and last she’s gonna get out of me.” The alchemist stood outside the door for a while before making her leave.
