Work Text:

One wouldn’t necessarily think that Cale was a good dancer. It wasn’t everyday Cale would show up to an event and danced, if he showed up he would sit on a terrace or table and watch, maybe taking food with him.

“Can you dance?” Alberu asked one night, the two sworn brothers were enjoying an event held for the kingdom. Cale looked up from his champagne glass.

“I’m adequate” Cale responded. He was glad to see a waiter come over so he could place the glass down, champagne wasn’t his drink.

“Would you enjoy a dance with me?” Alberu extended his hand, Cale looked at Alberu. His eyes shining with confusion.

“You want me to dance?” Cale asked, a smirk playing on his lips as if Alberu had told him a joke.

“Yes, please dance with me” Alberu once again asked, some stared before turning away. Cale looked at him before gently placing his hand in Alberu’s.

“Only one.” Cale stared and Alberu laughed.

“Yes because if you dance two songs your feet will break?” He asked jokingly, Cale smiled.

“The horror, crown prince Alberu Crossman forced poor Cale Henituse to dance leading him to faint from exhaustion” Cale mocked, the both of them chuckled.

As the song started Alberu took Cale into his arms. The two of them wore contrasting colours. Cale wore black and gold, while Alberu wore white and gold. Many stared at the two, they never imagined to see the crown prince and the hero of the western continent dance with one another. Nor would they have expected to see Cale Henituse dance as the female.

“Have you danced as a female before?” Alberu asked, Cale smiled,

“Your highness has exceptional leading skills” Cale used his glib tongue, Alberu faked a happy smile and turned Cale sharply making him gasp.

“I would happily roll your ankles if you do that again.” Alberu warned when he pulled Cale into his chest. Cale looked at him with surprise before a smirk broke on his lips.

“Ah yes, carry your troublesome dongsaeng back to the carriage, won’t people whisper?” He asked, his feet clicked in rhythm with the song. It wasn’t often that Cale wore heeled shoes, but his outfit tonight was meant to accent his feminine features. He wore a black frilled shirt with flared sleeves, a black handkerchief with a gold and red brooch, black high waisted tight fitted pants, and heels that fitted to his ankle and shin, they had gold on the spiked heel and sole. Around his waist he wore a corset belt. His hair was left down and a gold pin placed in the back. His outfit was extremely feminine even for most males.

Cale eventually closed his eyes listening to the music and enjoying the dance, not even noticing that the song had ended and another had started. The two captivated the nobles watching, many female starred in jealousy that Cale could dance the female part so well, and many men watched in envy that the crown prince could get Cale to dance with him.

“They are staring quite hard at you” Alberu whispered, Cale jerked and nearly stepped on Alberu causing him to stumble. Alberu leaned forward and made it look like he had wanted Cale to bow backwards. He didn’t mind that Cale was gripping his hand and arm tightly. He just smiled.

“The song has changed” Cale stared, and Alberu nodded.

“You seemed to enjoy yourself. We shall finish this one?” Alberu swirled Cale around. Both got lost in the climax of the song. Cale eventually started smiling. The song finished and Alberu ended it with Cale leaning backwards.

“My feet hurt” Cale muttered, Alberu chuckled.

“Wine?” He asked, Cale nodded and they found themselves a quiet little table where Cale could shove plates under the table for Raon to eat.

“Who taught you to dance?” Alberu asked, he set a glass down for Cale and himself before filling their glasses.

“My mother taught me” Cale muttered into his wine glass. His mind went to the memories he had gotten from the original Cale Henituse. The countess was a beautiful young woman with red hair the same shade as his. He took after his mother in looks. “Father has told me I look like my mother”

“We should dance again sometime” Alberu hid his smirk behind his wine glass. Cale stared for a few moments before he leaned forward, his head resting in his palm on the table. A smirk playing at his lips as he swirled his wine glass.

“Hmm, you’d make me work harder? Your poor dongsaeng just might collapse from all the work he has” Cale looked away, his eyes drifted to the dance floor.

“Hmm, well if you do collapse while dancing I shall just pull you around like a doll” Alberu smiled. Cale shivered.

“Hyung-nim is truly scary.”

This Cale never rejected his proposal for another dance.
