Chapter Text
"Come on Khun, pleeeease?"
"Why should I Shibisu? Is this really what you called me over for?"
"It'll be fun! I promise! It will be far more fun than sitting in your room playing on your own."
Raising an eyebrow, Khun just looked at Shibisu who nervously chuckled in return. Shibisu had invited him to play games at his apartment, it seemed he had a hidden objective.
"Just this once, please! I promised that I would have a friend join me on this stream....."
"Well, you shouldn't have promised before asking me. You only have yourself to blame."
Scratching his head, Shibisu wracked his brain trying to figure how he could convince Khun to join him.
"You like playing games and you're good at them, now we have graduated Uni why don't you try streaming. Who knows, you might be able to make a living off it, wouldn't you much rather make a living by playing games all the time instead of boring office work?"
Khun sighed.
"It's not like I have to work Isu. You know I sold that app I designed a few years ago and I'm pretty much set for life."
Shibisu and Khun were recent University graduates. They had both studied computing and software develpment, though Khun had an obvious knack for it as well as the business sense to be able to make money from it. Having graduated from University, the two young men were now trying to decide what to do as their next career step.
Both friends were keen gamers and, a fews year back, Shibisu had ventured into streaming his gameplay live and then uploading videos to YT. He had managed to build a small community over the years and had started to make a small income from his hobby, but now that he had graduated, he decided to dedicate his time to his hobby and see if he could earn a living from it.
Khun was just as into gaming as Shibisu, he was actually quite skilled at it though this didn't surprise Shibisu as Khun was usually good at everything he did. He knew about Shibisu's streaming though it had never appealed to him. The idea of having strangers watching him through a camera was embarrassing.
However, he did think Shibisu had a point.
"Damn, I really needed you Khun. Can't you at least give it a go? Just this once and I promise I won't ask you again."
Trying one final time, Shibisu got down on his knees and begged, causing Khun to sigh again.
"Just this once. I'll try it out and see if I like it or not. But only once."
Shibisu froze in shock, even with all of his begging he never expected Khun to give in to his pleas.
"You will not regret this Khun! I promise! Thank you, thank you, thank you! The viewers are going to love you!"
Reeling off his thanks, Shibisu dragged Khun through to his gaming set up. He pulled up another chair to his desk and gave him instructions on what the plan for the stream was.
"Okay, so we're going to play the game we usually play - a team deathmatch - so two teams of six and it will be the first team to 100 points. Instant respawn and on hardcore mode. You can play on my spare laptop and I'll set up the stream so it shows both our gameplay and camera's on the same stream. Heheh, this is going to be so much fun!"
Excitedly Shibisu started messing around with the pieces of technology, readying his stream.
"I've already told the guys how good you are at this, oh I mean my viewers when I say the guys, they're basically my online friends. I also told them you are ridiculously pretty and they didn't believe me, haha I'm looking forward to proving them wrong! Ah, this screen here in the middle will be of the stream so we can see what the viewers are seeing and their chat messages, you don't need to worry about that though, I'll let you know if you need to respond to them. You'll be sitting close enough that we can share this mic."
Looking at all the gadgets Shibisu had scattered on his desk and the complexity of the software he had set up just to stream some simple gameplay, Khun was impressed. He thought it would be as simple as turning on a switch and boom, done and ready to go.
"Now, I'm going to put up my 'starting soon' screen, we'll have 10 minutes before we start so let me know if you need anything."
Grinning, Shibisu gave Khun a thumbs up before he started messing around with some settings on his stream. Khun looked at the live stream screen to see Shibisu's gamer tag, PurpleIsu and a countdown showing how long they had left. The ten minutes soon passed by.
"We're going live now Khun so everyone will be able to see and hear you."
Having received a nod from Khun, Shibisu clicked a button and their faces popped up on screen along with their pc screens.
"Hey everyone, Shibisu here, thanks for joining in today! Last time I streamed I said I would bring a beautiful guest to play games with me so.... here we have Khun!"
Shibisu gestured to Khun who waved through his own camera and lazily greeted everyone, there were about 700 viewers currently watching the stream.
"Heheh, and now I want your guesses.... Is Khun male or female? Poll in chat please!"
"Eh?! You never said anything about that to me!"
Khun disappeared from his camera only to appear in Shibisu's putting him in a headlock as the victim choked out his apologies.
"Sorry, sorry, look we've had loads of votes!"
Shibisu's viewers had gone mad in the chat with their opinions and the poll had quickly come to a close. It was a very close battle with results at 53% male and 47% female.
"Well, well, that was much closer than I thought! I'm sorry that I have to disappoint 47% of you ahahahaha!"
Shibisu cackled as he made the reveal whilst Khun scowled as he watched the comments pouring in.
-Knew it, there's no way PurpleIsu would have a female friend that pretty
- OhmyGod, he's soooo pretty though!
-What a trap!
- Could you guys not tell from his voice? LOLOL
-NGL I would turn gay for him....
"Well that was fun but we should probably start gaming. Despite how Khun looks, he is actually a really good gamer."
Rubbing his arm after receiving a punch for that comment, Shibisu continued.
"I hate to admit that he is better than me but..... well, you guys will see."
The chat had a constant stream of messages popping up as more viewers joined in. Shibisu and Khun started their game play and kept each other aware of what was going on within the game.
"For fuck sake, Isu! He was right next to you!"
"There was no way I would have got him in time!"
"Isu! Behind you! Nice one!"
The two players focused on their quick paced game, Khun mostly using his foul language to curse Isu and the other team if they managed to kill him, which wasn't often.
The points screen came up at the end of the match, Shibisu and Khun's team had managed to win and the points showed that it was mostly thanks to Khun's dominating game play.
Khun - 25 kills, 4 deaths, 2 assists
Isu - 13 kills, 13 deaths, 7 assists
"Phew, told you he was a good player, much better than me!"
"Honestly Isu, what even was the point in you being in the game? You died as many times as you killed."
"Ouch! That hurts, Khun! Guys, come one, don't encourage him!"
The viewers loved the comment.
-LOLOL So true!!
- @ PurpleIsu you really suck at this
-Khun should just take over your channel!
Seeing the reaction of the viewers made Khun smile, for the rest of the stream he played up to them knowing that Shibisu was a good sport and wouldn't get offended.
As the stream ended, Shibisu thanked his viewers, throughout the stream he had already been thanking individual viewers for new follows, subs, bits and donations. As he was finishing up a lot of the viewers were asking if Khun had his own channel as they would love to see more of his gameplay. Shibisu loooked to Khun for a response.
"Watch this space."
