Work Text:

"What did I tell you," Yamada smiled down at the man beside him. "Best restaurant in the city!" The two paused on the sidewalk as the restaurant doors closed behind them, Yamada taking the other's hand in his own.

"I will admit, the food was pretty great," Takami replied, looking up to meet Yamada's gaze, "but you still should have let me pay."

The Voice Hero rolled his eyes. "If you couldn't convince me during the thirty minutes we were fighting over the check, what makes you think you'll convince me now that it's paid for?"

Takami chuckled, turning to walk to Yamada's car that was parked down the street. "I guess you have a point," he sighed, admitting defeat. "But next time it's on me."

"Keep telling yourself that," Yamada laughed as he was pulled down the sidewalk. He looked up as his steps fell in time with the Wing Hero's, noticing the flashes of light filling the clouds above them. "Looks like we're getting a storm tonight."

Takami looked up into the night sky, his nose scrunching up in near disgust. "I just hope it holds off until I get-" he cut himself off, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk as he felt a drop of rain fall on his cheek. "Until I get home," he sighed, looking ahead again.

Yamada couldn't help the small laugh that escaped him when he looked back to see the drop of rain falling down his partner's face. "No need to cry," he joked as he swiped his thumb across Takami's cheek. "It's only rain."

Takami playfully swatted the hand away, rolling his eyes with a grin. "You're not the one who has to fly home."

"So, I'll give you a ride," Yamada shrugged. "Problem solved."

"I live on the other side of town," the shorter blonde said, shaking his head. "You don't need to drive that far out of the way."

"You know I don't mind," Yamada assured him, feeling rain start to fall in his hair. "Better make a decision quick though," he added, holding his free hand out, palm facing up to catch the rain. "I think it's already starting to pick up a bit." As soon as he finished the thought, there was a loud crack of thunder and the rain started pouring down on them.

"Yeah, no kidding!" Takami said, having to raise his voice slightly to be heard over the sudden downpour. His wings stretched out and up slightly, covering his head as best as he could. "I guess I should get going."

Thunder sounded out above them again and Yamada turned to continue walking to the car, pulling Takami behind him. "Not a chance. You can't fly in weather like this, Keigo."

"I'll be fine, 'Zashi," Takami smiled up at his partner, almost jogging to catch up to him. He followed Yamada regardless, knowing he wouldn't win this battle either. One wing stretched out to shield the taller man from the rain while the other stayed over his own head. The angle wasn't the most comfortable, but at least most of his body was out of the rain.

Looking up when he felt the rain stop falling on his head, Yamada huffed a laugh. "It's like a built in umbrella," he said, almost amazed. "Thanks, love."

"Don't mention it," Takami told him, squeezing his hand.

They sped up as the rain started to fall harder until they were practically running to the car. They ran in silence for the most part, listening to the thunder and rain surrounding them. When they were almost to the car, the rain started to ease up the slightest bit, still pouring down but not as heavy as before.

Without warning, Yamada let go of Takami's hand. He ducked out from under the wing, looking around before jogging out into the middle of the street. Hands held out in front of him, he closed his eyes and let his head fall back, letting the rain fall on his face.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Takami called out after him.

"I thought it'd be nice to stop and feel the rain for a minute," he called back with a content sigh.

"We're in the middle of a thunderstorm and you want to stop and feel the rain?!"

"You say that like it's not normal!"

"Yeah, that's because it's not," the younger man laughed. He crossed his arms over his chest, watching his partner make a complete fool of himself with pure love and admiration clear on his face.

"You should come join me," Yamada said, cracking one eye open to look over at Takami where he still stood on the sidewalk. "It feels nice."

Shaking his head and looking around to make sure they weren't about to be hit by a car, Takami jogged out into the street. "All right, I'm here," he said, smirking up at Yamada. "How is it that you're the old man and I'm still more mature?"

Yamada's eyes snapped open and he looked down at the shorter man with a look of hurt and betrayal in his eyes. "Wh- OLD MAN?!" He brought a hand to his chest dramatically, the other dropping to his side. "How dare you? I am far from 'old', thank you very much."

"Sure you are," Takami chuckled.

"Well if I'm so old then how did I land a pretty little bird like yourself?" Yamada asked, hands finding his lover's hips to pull him closer.

The compliment and hands on his hips caught him off guard, a surprised gasp escaping him when he was pulled forward. He tried to cover it by clearing his throat, but he was sure Yamada had caught the noise.

"Pretty?" Takami scoffed, looking away to try and hide the slight blush that dusted his cheeks now.

"Very much so, and I'm sure I've mentioned that many times before," Yamada answered, hooking a finger under his chin to urge him to stop hiding. "Hiding doesn't answer my question. What on earth would make you settle for an old man like me?"

Locking eyes again, Takami, reached up to pull the other man's hand away from his chin. "I guess it must be the money," he grinned, bringing Yamada's hand up to his lips and kissing it lightly.

"Now I know that's a lie!" Yamada laughed. "I know for a fact that you make more than I do. Try again."

"Hmm.." Takami hummed in fake consideration. "I'm here to steal all your fans?"

"Eeehhh, wrong answer," the Voice Hero grinned, sounding like a game show buzzer. "You have more of those too, and you deserve each and every one."

Takami let go of Yamada's hand, bringing a finger to his own chin and looking off into the distance as is he was actually questioning what he already knew.

"The only other explanation is that you love me," Yamada said with a goofy grin plastered on his face.

Reaching up to tuck a stray piece of hair behind Yamada's ear, Takami let his hand fall to rest on his shoulder. "Well, I do in fact love you. So I guess you're right."

Leaning down to press a kiss to the tip of Takami's nose, the taller man pulled him even closer, wrapping his arms completely around his waist. "Now that answer I like. And I love you, too."

"Okay, you big sap," Takami laughed, nose scrunching up at the kiss. "Can we go now? I don't want to catch a cold."

"Why would we do that? You haven't felt the rain yet." Yamada leaned his head back again, hips pushing further against the other's as he did.

"In case you haven't noticed, we're both soaked," Takami pointed out. "I think I've felt enough rain."

"That's not what I meant," Yamada pouted, looking back at his partner with pleading eyes. "Come on, just try it. Close your eyes and let the rain fall on that pretty face of yours. It's freeing.

Takami was hesitant at first but he slowly started to let his head fall back. He was about to close his eyes and try to 'feel the rain' when he felt Yamada's arms move away from his waist instead. The older man started pulling at his hands lightly. Before he could ask why, Yamada spoke up, whispering a small "trust me" as he turned Takami's palms up towards the night sky.

Once he was satisfied with how Takami was posed, Yamada took a step back. He was about to lean back into the rain himself but changed his mind, deciding that the view in front of him was much more worthy of his attention.

"Okay, I see what you mean," Takami smiled after a few moments, actually enjoying the feeling. "This is kind of nice. But, it's still storming and we should get going." He opened his eyes again, looking back to Yamada to find him shamelessly staring. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Yamada assured him, shaking his head with a slight smile tugging at his lips. "Absolutely nothing."

Takami quirked an eyebrow at him, eyes closing again as he leaned his head back. "Then why are you staring at me? Are you just being sappy again?" He paused for a second but got no answer. Looking back to the man in front of him, he was about to speak back up when he felt a hand cup his cheek.

Before Takami could say another word, Yamada's lips were on his. The Wing Hero's entire body froze for half a second, wings puffing out behind him before he relaxed into the kiss. He brought his hands up to rest on Yamada's chest, feeling the other smile against his lips.

He chuckled lightly as Yamada pulled away, hands staying in place on the taller mans chest. "I'll take that as a yes."

"Aren't I always being sappy?" Yamada shot back with a wink before leaning down to return to the kiss. Or to attempt to at least.

Before he could reach his lover's lips he felt the hands on his chest pushing him back slightly. He stood up straight again, tilting his head to the side. "What is it?" he asked, concerned.

"My turn."

This time it was Yamada's turn to raise an eyebrow, head still tilted in confusion. "What does that mean?"

"It's my turn," Takami smirked, flying up just far enough above the ground to be taller than Yamada, taking his face in both hands.

"I thought we agreed you shouldn't fly in the rain," Yamada joked, reaching up to hold the hands resting against his cheeks.

"I don't think I agreed to that," Takami replied, not giving the man a chance to respond before crashing their lips together again.

"Fair enough," Yamada laughed into the kiss, hands going to rest on Takami's hips again as if he was holding him up in the air. He pulled him closer as the rain continued to pour down on top of them.

Takami's hands moved to tangle themselves in long blonde hair, pulling lightly at it after a minute. He smirked as he pulled back to catch his breath, nipping at the other's bottom lip before he did.

"You know, I think you had the right idea, 'Zashi" he breathed out, placing one last kiss to Yamada's lips. He dropped back to the ground, hands leaving Yamada's hair to pull the other's hands away from his hips. He took a few steps back, biting his lip and tugging lightly at Yamada's hands as he did.

"And what idea was that?" Yamada asked, faking innocence despite the knowing grin on his lips.

Takami stopped once again, this time standing up on his toes to wrap his arms around Yamada's neck. He leaned in again, kissing along the man's jaw until he could whisper in his ear. "Take me home."

Without another word, he pulled back again, flying off towards the car and leaving Yamada frozen in the middle of the street, blinking after him with his signature goofy grin.
