i remember, i remember when i lost my mind
there was something so pleasant about that place
even your emotions have an echo in so much space
and when you’re out there, without care
yeah, i was out of touch

Once upon a time there was a completely and utterly normal alleyway. Well, as normal as a back alleyway of a city overpopulated with villains set on destroying the world could be. It had all the normal alleyway things; the strange boxes, the items of clothing randomly discarded ten years ago, that weird dampness no one could quite justify. And of course, the inter-dimensional portal.
A sudden split in the very fabric of reality burst open. Vibrant colours liquified the surrounding nothingness in pulsing waves that expanded from a circular centre. Moments later, a figure was violently expelled from the swirling abyss beyond the strange doorway between realms.
Morro grunted as he attempted to catch himself but his elbows buckled with the force of his expulsion. He now found himself collapsed on the weirdly damp, concrete ground. He growled, irritated, as pain spiked up his hands before he heaved himself up shakily.
Once his feet were planted enough for himself to hold himself upright, albeit still shaky, Morro examined his surroundings. His creased brow and frown dissolved as a sly grin crept onto his features.
He had made it.
Morro’s gaze then jumped to his hands. He inspected his bruised and slightly bloody palms, eyes alight. His once green, faintly transparent skin was now, well, skin. His body was one of flesh and blood now. He disregarded the glass shards that slit them upon his elegant entrance to enjoy his triumph. It had worked, he was human.
The ghost (ex-ghost) had a plan. He had been planning for years–too many, it felt. But everything was in motion now and he had every intention of executing each painstaking step perfectly. Nothing would stop him from getting what he not only wanted, but deserved. Not this time.
But first, a little celebration was in order.
“Now,” he muttered, “let’s go have some fun.”
