Work Text:

Hitoshi adored waking up before Izuku, especially when it was changing seasons. Watching autumn days turn to winter nights was fascinating to him. The air was becoming a little colder and he had an excuse to stay curled up around his boyfriend.

Not that he needed one, of course. Izuku's warmth seeping into his body was enough to make him lazily stretch out like a cat, fully content.

He brushed his hand along the other's arm, admiring the freckles that speckled the bronzed skin like snowflakes fall to the ground, without pattern or meaning. No matter how long Shinsou stared at them he could never make sense of how Izuku could have so many. His most recent trip to America had certainly given them time to sprout all over his body, his skin gaining a healthy colour too.

Their apartment was chilly when he eventually dragged himself out of bed, yawning as he walked into the kitchen and immediately starting to make a pot of coffee. He rubbed his bleary-eyes, trying to push the sleep from them.

After he had finished his first cup of coffee, he started on breakfast. Izuku's favourite breakfast food were pancakes, cooked to golden brown perfection. They also happened to be the first ever dish Shinsou had cooked for him.

He hummed softly as he worked, pouring the batter into the pan. The way it settled into a near perfect circle was a testament to how often he did this. He added a few chocolate chips to the pancakes, knowing Izuku would appreciate them.

It was clear that the delicious smell had wafted through the air when arms wrapped snuggly around his waist from behind. A smile crept onto his face involuntarily when Hitoshi felt those slim but muscular arms encasing him in their embrace.

Izuku buried his face in between Hitoshi’s shoulder blades, every point of contact blazing with heat. It was unfair how warm Izuku always was, while Shinsou seemed to just be unaware of the cold. It was only when Izuku's chest pressed against the skin of his back that he realised how cold it actually was. Warmth radiated through whatever clothes Izuku had thrown on him before venturing into the kitchen.

Fingers trailed across his abdomen and Hitoshi struggled not to burn the pancakes in front of him, mind going blank at the tender touch.

Soon enough- he held off as long as he could-, he turned the heat off, spinning around to face his boyfriend.

Taking in the bright emerald eyes staring up at him in doe-eyed adoration, he couldn't stop himself from leaning down to place a kiss on his nose.

"Morning beautiful," he drawled out, enjoying the shiver he could feel cascade through Izuku's body. The other man snuggled into his bare chest even more, happily reciprocating the affection Hitoshi showed him.

Reluctantly breaking away from the embrace, he brought the plate of pancakes to their table, along with the pot of coffee.

Izuku followed like a puppy, yawning. "Good morning," he hummed, voice hoarse from sleep.

Setting the food on the table, Hitoshi straightened, finally taking in the other's appearance fully, ready to tease him about his terrible fashion sense only to stop in his tracks.

Izuku's body was hidden by the long oversized sweater that trailed down to just above his knees. It swamped him, even though Hitoshi really wasn't that much taller than Izuku.

Hitoshi was oh so glad that Izuku continuously stole his clothes… as seeing the other in them made his heart race and his mind melt, flustering him immensely, even though the other boy didn't know it did.

His green curls were mussed from sleep, bright and bouncing as he moved. The undercut was enticing Hitoshi to reach out and touch it. Izuku had only decided to get it done like that a few weeks ago and Hitoshi took every opportunity he could to run his hands over the difference in lengths.

Izuku's eyes met his, a broad smile spreading over his face, filled with love and the brightest light he could summon. Hitoshi gave a smaller one in return, practically blinded by the other.

"So, where do you wanna go today?" he asked as they ate, watching in satisfaction as Izuku enjoyed the food before him.

Izuku thought about it before replying, that mind that Hitoshi loved so dearly working fast to provide an answer. "I wanna go to that coffee shop down the road. I think Mina said she went earlier this week and loved it. Although that was probably partly because of the cute barista she wouldn't shut up about."

"That's a good idea. Maybe there'll even be some leaf piles for you to kick," Hitoshi teased, struggling not to laugh at the offended face Izuku pulled.

"Excuse you, that was one time. And it was fun, I'll have you know. I wouldn't be opposed to playing in them again," he admitted.

Hitoshi did laugh at that, rolling his eyes at how much of a child his boyfriend really was. Sometimes he wondered how they both became pro heroes when they still acted like kids at times.

They finished their breakfast in quiet companionship, savouring their day off with each other as much as they could. It was rare for them to get a day off and even more so to have one off at the same time. Being able to spend a whole day with the love of his life was heaven to Hitoshi and he couldn't for the life of him have thought of a better way to use his free time.

They dressed together, Izuku slipping on some of his favourite thigh high socks under the trousers he decided on. He kept Hitoshi's metallic silver sweater on, last night's hickeys a stark contrast in the emerging daylight. The purplish colour served as a reminder to Hitoshi of how they got there.

Izuku slipped some comfortable woolly boots onto his feet, giggling at Hitoshi as he nearly walked into their wardrobe as his mind continued to stay focused on those marks. He grumbled half-heartedly at the other, snatching one of his flannel shirts out of the wardrobe instead and throwing it on.

Izuku grabbed his hand as soon as he was ready, dragging him from the apartment, only waiting until he had locked it before he was back to pulling Hitoshi along.

The streets outside were lined with colours, crisp autumn leaves billowing with the wind in colours of russet, dawn, and brown, all littering the area. They were crinkled, slowly dying as the winter air rolled in. Already there was a bite in the air, just sharp enough to require the men to take coats and thank the fabric for protecting them from the full brunt of the wind.

Izuku skipped along the walkway, leaves crunching under his feet, the noise sharp in the relatively still air. Hitoshi could hear children laughing happily as they passed a park, the noise echoing all the way over to them. Izuku's eyes gleamed as he looked upwards at Hitoshi, talking and rambling about anything and everything that came to mind.

They reached the coffee shop in no time at all- at least, it felt that way- rushing through the doors and into the warmth of the room. They sat in a corner booth, giggling and poking each other like teenagers. Their conversation tapered out into nothing as Izuku played with his fingers, Hitoshi secretly relishing in the soft contact of their hands.

The contact left a fluttery feeling to well up inside him, his gaze softening as he watched Izuku mess with his joints.

The waitress strolled over to them quicker than they had expected considering how full the coffee shop had been when they entered. She smiled brightly at them, energetically greeting them and taking their orders.

Izuku got a hot chocolate to combat the cold still nipping at his toes every time the door to the coffee shop opened. Hitoshi chose some hazelnut type of coffee, something he usually wouldn't as he rarely enjoyed too-sweet drinks but the promise of having a rich nutty flavour enticed him too much to resist.

"I think we should get a cat," Izuku said as he sipped on his drink, allowing the last remnants of any chill that still clung to his skin to dissipate in the heat.

Hitoshi nearly choked on his drink in his excitement to respond, coughing and spluttering when the coffee slipped down the wrong pipe.

Izuku grinned behind his cup, pursing his lips in an effort to contain any hint of laughter.

Despite that, Hitoshi shot him a dirty look.

" Now you want a cat. After I begged for one for months. "

Izuku shrugged in response, his expression sly. "Well, we had been too busy to get one. But since the crime rates have gone down a lot, we have a little more time on our hands. And I think it might be good for your insomnia," he commented offhandedly, eyes flitting through the crowd, people watching.

"Of course I want a cat! Can we get a kitten though? Pleaseeee." Hitoshi rarely ever used that tone of voice with Izuku, but some things he would beg for.

"Obviously," Izuku responded easily. He tapped his fingertips against the table, "I already asked Aizawa for advice. He told me to get out of his apartment so he could nap and he only answered me when I threatened to steal one of his cats."

"Which one?"

"Mittens, I think?"

Hitoshi novels sagely, "Understandable. Mittens is by far the cutest and most problematic cat he has. Aizawa loves the Problem Cats."

"Well he took all of Class 1-A under his wing, did he think he was being subtle? We are all Problem Children. Obviously the same applies to his cats."

Hitoshi made a noise of agreement. They continued chatting about trivial things until their drinks were finished and long after, staying longer than necessary just to avoid having to face the cold again.

Eventually, they returned to the apartment, cheeks a rosy red from the brisk wind they had encountered once they finally got booted from the coffee shop.

A few leaves had fallen onto Izuku's head during the journey, entangling themselves into his curls. He huffed in mild annoyance as he struggled to pull them out.

Strong hands grasping his own caused him to pause, viridian meeting lavender. Hitoshi pulled Izuku's hands from his head, clasping both his hands between his own.

He raised them to his lips, keeping eye contact with the other as he breathed onto Izuku's hands. The warm air brushed over Izuku's hands, slowly chasing the cold from them. The eye contact stayed throughout the process, Izuku trapped within those beautiful eyes that had captivated him from the very first moment he ever looked into them, all the way back at their first-year sport's festival.

Izuku had seen so many expressions in those glorious eyes; the eyes of his rival, his friend, his lover, his partner. He'd seen agony in the tears cried after a long mission, bright lights that glimmered like stars when he got his hero licence, exasperation at Izuku's antics, humour when he struggled to contain his laughter, love as he gazed at Izuku in the mornings when he thought the other was asleep.

But this expression was one of his favourites. It was a mix of elation, love, affection, disbelief and awe. Izuku had never been able to describe it properly to another person. He had tried once with Uraraka but she hadn't understood because she had never seen it, nor could imagine that multitude of emotions being identifiable in someone's eyes even though they passed so quickly, flitting from one to the other.

But Izuku had always been perceptive.

Izuku slid his hands slowly from Hitoshi's, one hand going to his boyfriend's shoulder and the other to his cheeks, rubbing along the battle-hardened planes of his face. He brushed his thumb over his lips, chapped from the cold. He pulled the other to him, like the sun pulls the planets into orbit around it, and kissed him gently, oh so sweet.

These precious mornings were not meant for passionate kisses filled with lust and longing- though there were plenty of those too- but for the kind of kisses that make your toes curl in your socks, make your heart feel lighter with every second your lips pressed together, the type to halt every thought until all you can feel is that moment, until the full, true and overwhelming beauty of it engulfs you whole.

And Izuku would never resist the other.

They melted into each other, brains turned to mush, hands finding purchase, clinging with all the strength they had left to keep them upright. Izuku could feel Hitoshi's steady heartbeat against his chest as they pressed further into each other, desperate to be closer than they were.

The soft kiss came to an end a few moments later… or maybe it was minutes. Time has seemed to stop so they couldn't tell for sure.

They stuck close to each other as they wordlessly made popcorn and two cups of tea, bringing them into their living room and curling into each other's arms on the couch.

"So, what do you wanna watch?" Hitoshi asked, whispering into Izuku's ear. A shiver ran down Izuku's spine as Hitoshi tilted his head to press a loving kiss under his ear, on an extremely sensitive part of his neck. His breathy exhale earned a grin off of the other, buried in his neck. "OK then, a horror movie it is."

Izuku tried to whine since he hated most horror movies and Hitoshi knew that, goddamn him yet all that escaped him was a breathy whimper, which only caused his face to flush rapidly.

Hitoshi clicked into a movie with an image portraying some sort of demon looking creature.

"You're doing this on purpose, you asshole," Izuku pouted.

"Of course, sweetheart," Hitoshi said, smiling, his lavender eyes piercing as bright rays filtered through the windows and into the room, basking them both in golden light.

"Fine, but don't expect to get any cuddles tonight."

"You don't mean that," Hitoshi teased, tapping his finger on Izuku's nose once, twice.

"..."

"I knew it!"

And if Hitoshi's plan to have Izuku wrapped up in his arms- or straddling him with his head buried in the crook of his boyfriend's neck) to avoid all the demonic parts of the movie was successful, well then, that was only for the two men to know.

After all, what else happens on a chilly winter morning?

Notes:

I hope you all enjoyed this! Leave kudos and a comment if you did, I'd love to hear what you thought of the fluff.

I haven't written anything in a while so this was really important to me.

This is Bunny, hopping out.
