Chapter 1: Let's begin

Chapter Text

Hawks was busy taking his neatly folded clothes from a box to his dresser in the dorm. He was going to Shiketsu high, and he was extremely excited. This would be the first time that he would really interact with people his own age. Maybe he could make friends!

His wings flapped in anticipation as he finished his task. It didn't take long, as he only had one box of clothing and it all fit into a singular drawer. His roommate was no where to be seen. He stood up and glanced around his side of the room was as bare as the other. It didn't matter to him that he didn't really own anything he was grateful that was here, training to be a hero.

Just then the door burst open and a boy came in sporting black spikey hair and many purple scars. Horrible burn scars. Hawks noticed in about two seconds and decided it best that he wouldn't comment nor ask. He held three boxes, obviously struggling stopped when he noticed Hawks

Hawks grinned an easy grin, "hey! You must be my new roomie!"he stood relaxed with his hand in his pockets when really he was bursting with excitement.
"Need help?" Without waiting for a response he sent feathers out to help him with the two boxes on top and easily set them one the ground.

"I'm Hawks." He reached out a hand when the boy set the box down but he didn't take his hand. "Dabi" the black haired boy nodded but didn't take his hand and made to leave, but Hawks wasn't done with him.

"Need more help, Dabi?" He says with another grin. The taller guy only grunts at his grin, but Hawks follows him anyways. They leave the dorms, unluckily for Dabi, they lived on the top floor which meant he had to walk up all the stairs. Outside of the dormitory doors are more bags and other students that has just arrived. Dabi starts to grab ahold of bags and boxes but Hawks quickly intervenes with his feathers. Dabi looks mildly annoyed but is much too lazy to refuse help.

"You have a lot of stuff" The blonde says
.
"Yeah, no shit." The taller boy mutters

"Lucky to have a roommate like me." He grins, the grin he always has on

"Yeah, alright Birdbrain" hawks had to stop climbing stairs as he guffawed at the nickname

"Nicknames already? And I thought I went fast!" He laughed throwing his head back. Dabi had kept climbing stairs and had already reached their dorm. Hawks, caught up quick and had his feathers set everything down

"This room is pretty small." Dabi frowns. The dorm was split in half, each side with a bed, a small desk and dresser. Hawks only laughs.
"Bigger then anything I ever had! Now, " hawks sits on his blank white bed as Dabi begins to unpack "tell me about your self! We are roommates after all." Dabi rolls his eyes.

"Nothing you need to know."

Hawks strikes a dramatic pose like he's about to faint from the horror of it.

"I'm hurt! 15 minutes of knowing me and you won't tell me your deepest darkest secrets? I've been tricked! Betrayed!" He falls back onto his bed like he's dead. Hawks talks to him as If they've been friends for years, not 20 minutes.

*******
Dabi's first thought when he saw his roommate was Oh no he's hot! His apparent roommate had windswept blonde hair beautiful golden eyes and had a pair of massive red wings. His sweat pants and low backed tank top, although lounge wear, only emphasized his amazing physique. Dabi thought about this as the hot blonde rambled on his bed while Dabi unpacked.

"Wow you do have a ton of stuff! And mostly in black" Hawks quirked an eyebrow and laughed. Hawks had an amazing laugh, and what was worse was that he did it all the damn time!

"Nice observation,
what's next your gonna tell me the sky's blue?" He snorted.

"Na, I'll tell you grass is green" Dabi glances at the clock, while the blonde chuckles at his own joke. It around 8:30 and already dark outside, tomorrow will be their first day at Shiketsu.

"Your in the hero course, right?" Dabi puts tape on the corner of a poster

"Of course! I've wanted to be a hero since I was little! I'm guessing your in it too? I wonder If we'll have any classes together?"

The scar covered boys scowls. Oh. So Hawks is one of those people. Alright then. All Dabi had to do was survive this year with him. Hawks and his pretty eyes and stupid jokes.

He hears the winged boy yawn and he stretched out, Brushing dabi with soft feathers. Hawks immediately recoils as soon as he realized what he's done.

"Sorry! Sorry I didn't mean to touch you!"
Dabi only looks at him quizzically, sure he didn't like being touched all that much and had a large personal space bubble, but Hawks seemed really freaked out over something so small.

"Sorry" The small blonde curled his wings around himself and fluffed up a bit, as if Dabi was going to lash out at him.

Dabi shrugged unsure of what to do "it's. Uh. Fine I guess" he tossed the last of the empty boxes in the corner then hopped onto his bed, which were covered in blankets from home. In fact, his side of the room actually looked like someone was living there, with knickknacks on his desk, clothes overflowing his dresser because he never ever folded clothes. On the other hand Hawks's side, you wouldn't know someone was living there if there wasn't someone one the bed. Dabi shocks his head. Maybe Hawks would collect stuff over the school year.

He turned to glance at Hawks who evidently not calmed down. He still looked like he was in defense mode, but when Hawks saw him looking it was like a switched flipped, the blonde grinned at him.

"I'm getting ready for bed." Dabi swung his legs off his bed and went to the bathroom. He was still confused about Hawks's reaction, he decided to push it off.

Once Dabi left the room and Hawks mentally beat himself up. It wasn't even the first day of school and yet he still somehow managed to mess up. He ran his fingers through his constantly messy hair. He can't afford to do anything wrong. He had to be perfect. He had to. Failure was never an option for Hawks.
