“Sandeulie, I have to go,” Jin whispered, to prevent his voice from breaking in front of his best friend. His heart squeezed as scared brown eyes stared at him unblinking, Sandeul’s hushed voice too loud in the vast field.
“What if they take you as well?”
Jin closed his eyes, taking a deep breath to calm the whirlwind of emotions threatening to burst through his chest. He felt the rays of the Moon caressing his cheek, a lullaby-like voice softly easing his anxiety and doubts, promising eternal loyalty and support as always.
His eyes flew open, shining with determination, voice leaving no room for doubts.
“I am the only one who can help them. After all, a moonchild must protect those in need. They called upon me. This is what I was born to do.”
