Error 404: Title Not Found

Summary:

"You work for a software company and are honestly one of their biggest cybersecurity threats - right behind people that post-it their password to their monitors. Not only has he not fired you, he also personally checks on you to make sure you're ok. He wants to fuck you."

Work Text:

Jungkook's most hated part of his job is easily you. Not the early hours, not the woman who calls four times a week because she "forgot" her password, not even whoever it is that keeps stealing his homemade lunches from the break room fridge. It's you.

"__," he knocks on your office door and you quickly open the door.

"Yes?" You smile and offer him some of the dumplings you must have been snacking on.

"__," he sighs, "there is an unusual volume of emails coming to your address, again. "

You smile sheepishly and look down, "I know, I've been trying to take care of it though!"

"It's not your job to take care of it," he scowls, "you come to me or one of the techs just like everyone else."

You shrink in your chair, "but you guys have more important things to do and besides… it's my fault."

He sighs again and pats your hand, "what was it this time?"

"Apparently I was making fraudulent purchases on Amazon I wasn't though . So I just wanted to try and clear it up but," you sniffle and look away, "you know what happened after that."

"Did you give them any money," he glares at you when you shake your head, "__."

"Fine! I gave them some."

"__, you have to be more careful-"

"I know," you tear up, "I know I have to be more careful but I was worried and they sounded sincere at the time. It wasn't until it was too late that I realized… I'm sorry ."

You aren't stupid by any means but you are incredibly naive. You're the girl that gives everyone she runs into her change then gets home and realizes that now she doesn't have enough money for groceries. You're the girl that honestly believes that everyone is who they say they are and gives everyone the benefit of the doubt even if it means you end up getting scammed. Then you don't complain because you figure the scammers are probably down on their luck so you just file a report with your bank in the hopes that you get your money back and you're the last person the scam - you only sometimes do and you aren't. On top of all of this you're too timid to ask for help most of the time so he has to keep an eye on the amount of emails you get in order to find out that you need help. You are the worst part of his job.

"If she's so terrible why don't you just let her deal with the consequences on her own… or fire her," Yoongi asks boredly.

"I can't! I'm 99% sure she'll die," Jungkook groans.

"Give her some credit, she survived 24 years without you," Jimin points out.

"Jimin, she believed in Santa until she was 17 because she didn't believe her mom would lie to her."

"That's kind of… cute?"

"She also believes it was an honest mistake that her last job never paid her for 3 years of overtime and she didn't file for a whole year after they fired her (over something someone set her up to take the fall for) because she didn't want to bother them."

"Is she okay," Jimin asks sincerely, "how has her spirit not been broken by now."

"I honestly don't know."

You get home from work and flop onto your couch before screaming into a pillow. "Woah girl, you ok?" Your roommate Hana walks past you to the kitchen. Rolling over onto your back you stare at the ceiling, "he had to come check on me because of those stupid emails."

"Wait," Hana sits next to you on top of one of her own legs, "the big CEO guy that you work for and totally want to bang?"

"I do not," you turn red and shove her with a pillow.

She laughs, "if it makes you feel better he totally wants to bang you too."

"No he doesn't," you pull at the thread on your shirt.

"He does," Hana forces you to look her in the eye, "you work for a software company and are honestly one of their biggest cybersecurity threats - right behind people that post-it their password to their monitors. Not only has he not fired you, he also personally checks on you to make sure you're ok. He wants to fuck you."

"Maybe."

"Not maybe," she glares at you, "he does."

The next morning you're running a little late, for you, which means you'll be on time but you're still a ball of nerves. You woke up early to bake some cookies as a thank you for your boss because Hana is totally right - he should have fired you by now. Balancing the tin of cookies as well as the container filled with lasagna you manage to just squeeze into your car. Your actual spot is much easier to get in and out of but someone stole it from you when you first moved in so you just resigned to using their shitty spot. Luckily your spot at work is steal-proof thanks to the electronic system they employed.

Another lucky break is that you decided to wear flats today so when whoever it is in the elevator decides not to hold it you still manage to squeeze in. A girl you recognize as one of Jungkook's secretaries rolls her eyes at you, "I can't wait until he fires you." When you don't respond she turns to you and places a perfectly manicured hand on her hip, "you're nothing to him. You know that right? Actually, you are something to him. A fucking headache. So do us all a favor and quit." The elevator door slides open and Jungkook is looking over a file nearby. He greets the both of you but when you don't give him your usual cheerful "hi hi" he frowns and decides to follow after you.

Your office door closes and you set the containers of food down before sorting through a stack of papers on your desk. She didn't mean it, you say to yourself, and even if she did it doesn't make it right. You jump when a knock sounds on your door, "yes?"

Jungkook is frowning when you peek in so you immediately bow your head, "I'm really sorry for yesterday and taking up your time. I promise I'll do better from now on." He steps inside and closes the door before looking at you in concern, "are you alright?"

You blink in shock before repeating the question, "am I alright? Yes sir, I'm just fine. How are you?"

He wrinkles his nose, "I'd be better if you didn't call me sir."

"Mr. Jeon," you try and a dark shiver runs down his spine.

"Can you just call me by my actual name," he laughs nervously, "just Jungkook no fancy extras needed."

Your protest dies in your throat when you see the small spark of hope in his eyes, "okay, Jungkook."

His eyes crinkle as he smiles, "now are you sure you're ok? You seemed a little off when you first got here."

"Yeah," you nod, pushing the elevator ride to the back of your mind.

"Oh! Actually," you stop him just as he turns around, "I made these for you as a thank you for everything."

His eyes glint and he gives you a boyish smile as he accepts them, "I'll never say no to free food… if something ever happens, please let me know, ok?"

When you nod he smiles again before leaving with the food. Does what happened in the elevator count as anything ? You shake your head and turn back to your work deciding instead to just let it go.

"So which one is she," Taehyung throws his arm around Jungkook's shoulder and nods towards the other offices.

"Who is who," Jungkook pulls him off and has them both go sit on the couch in the little seating area of his office overlooking the ocean.

"You know who, your precious little worker who's too small and pure for this world," he wiggles his brows.

Jungkook gives him a look of disgust before opening up one of the containers you gave him, lasagna? "Ok the way you said that was entirely too creepy and she isn't small ."

"Oh? I didn't know you liked them big but more power to you."

"She isn't big either," he huffs as he turns red, "she's… normal sized, with a smile that lights up the room and-"

Taehyung fake gags before swiping a bite of lasagna, "holy shit this is good."

"Is it?" Jungkook takes a bite and lights up, pulling the container away when Taehyung tries to sneak another bite.

"I wonder what's in the other one," he mumbles to himself as he turns to the other container. When he opens it Taehyung whistles, "there are no less than four different types of cookies in there and none of them have raisins. Who gave these to you?"

Jungkook gives the older male a look.

"She did?" Taehyung laughs, "dude she's trying to have like all of your babies and honestly if you don't take her up on it, I might because this stuff is bomb."

Your work day ends up going on much longer than it usually does because a certain secretary gave you assignments out of order, without context, and incomplete. Most of the office is empty so you trudge over to the coffee machine in a vain attempt to keep yourself awake.

"__?"

Oh no, you squeeze your eyes shut before turning around, "hi! I didn't know you were still here."

He frowns and walks over, "I'm not, I left something in my office and came back to get it. What are you still doing here?"

"Overtime?"

Jungkook glares at you and takes the coffee out of your hands despite your protests, "try again."

"There was just a mix up with some of the assignments I got."

"Some of them," he folds his arms and looks down at you, "how many is some ."

"All of them," you say softly.

"And has this happened before?"

"I mean a few times but it's nothing I can't handle! So don't worry about it."

He rolls his eyes and walks to your office, "who's responsible for these mix ups, and don't you dare say yourself."

You sigh, "Amber."

"Amber?" Jungkook recoils, Amber has been his secretary for almost a year and her attention to detail is why he hired her in the first place. There's no way this is a simple mistake. "Is there anything else? Has she said or done anything to you?"

You shake your head before giving up and nodding. When the tears start to roll down your face he pulls you in for a hug. "This is why I need you to tell me about these things," he wipes your tears away before rubbing your back, "I don’t like to see you cry."

"I'm sorry." He glares at you when you try to pull away, "don't apologize, it isn't your fault, if anything it's mine. I should have paid better attention to you."

"C'mon let's get you home. And don't you dare come into work tomorrow."

It's a little after ten when you finally pull into your spot at your apartment. That's right, your spot. Whoever stole it must have had to do a night run but all that matters now is getting home and in bed. You eat a few bites of leftovers then take a shower before heading to sleep.

Unfortunately your plans for sleeping in are interrupted when someone starts ringing your bell. "Mrs. Walsh?" You open the door a little wider and spot another individual behind her. Mrs. Walsh is your landlord who you have always gotten along with since you pay your rent in advance and never throw any parties so it's strange to see her looking at you like this.

"__, did you steal Ms. Belari's spot."

My eyes go wide and I shake my head, "no ma'am."

"Bullshit," Ms. Belari steps forward and jams a finger in my direction, "I've been parking in that spot since before your piece of shit even arrived."

"Ms. Belari!" Mrs. Walsh's eyebrow ticks and gestures for us both to follow her.

Once we are seated in her office I pull up my lease on my phone, "I actually rented that particular spot when I signed my lease."

"Yeah whatever, anyone can photoshop that shit these days."

Mrs. Walsh gives me an apologetic look before producing hard copies of both leases. "Well you can't photoshop this," she turns the papers around and taps the parking spot number. "Ms. Belari I believe you owe Ms. __ an apology and you owe me for… how many months did you say you were parking in our lot," she glares at the other woman, "because you haven't paid a dime. Now either move your car or I will have it towed."

"__, I'm sorry for disturbing you in your home over this nonsense," she shakes her head, "you haven't been able to park in your spot at all?" When I shake my head she makes a note of it on a piece of paper, "alright well I'm crediting that to your rent in the future."

"Oh you don't have to-"

She cuts me off with a glare, "__, sweetie I love you but you gotta stand up for yourself. Now take the credit and go about the rest of your day." I nod and head back up to my apartment, now that I'm this awake I might as well go finish off the rest of the work I have from yesterday.

Just like yesterday, I run into Amber the secretary, only this time she's getting on as I'm getting off. "You got me fired you fucking cunt?" A few of my coworkers turn to see what the commotion is about and I decide I've had enough, "you got yourself fired." My cheek begins to burn and I faintly register that I've been slapped when she pushes me out of the way and off the elevator. "__, are you alright?" One of my senior coworkers squeezes my arm gently and Jungkook comes running out. "__? You were supposed to take the day off," he tells everyone to go back to work and guides me to his office. He swears under his breath and grabs an ice pack from his little fridge, "here, keep it on your cheek so you won't bruise."

"I can't believe she hit you," he shakes his head again when the phone in his office begins to ring. As soon as he picks up he begins to scowl, "are you fucking serious? Alright then call the police and file a report."

I set the ice pack on the table and begin to walk away when he stops me, "and where do you think you're going?"

"I was going to finish up some work but after that maybe you're right," I sigh, "I should have probably just stayed home."

He shakes his head and sits back down on the couch with me, "I'm actually grateful that you came in. Amber cut your brake line."

My brake line? My blood runs cold, she really wants to kill me.

"You still with me?" He searches my eyes for a moment, "I'm having security file a report, hand over surveillance and the police can talk to anyone in the office if they still need witnesses but for now can you humor me and come home with me?"

"Home with you," I tilt my head in confusion.

"Yeah," he coughs, "you shouldn't go home until she's in custody. If you come to my place I can protect you."

I look at his blushing face and frown, "isn't this wildly inappropriate?"

"I could also set you up in a hotel with guards if you're more comfortable with that!"

"Jungkook, do you like me?"

"What," he squeaks.

"Wait I should probably do this first. I quit ."

He gets worried and straightens up, "__ please don't quit, if it made you uncomfortable just pretend I never said anything-"

"Jungkook it's ok," I giggle, "I was never very good at my job and right now this is all I care about." I lean forward and cup his cheek, "do you like me?"

He nods once and I press my lips against his, he's completely frozen for a moment then he's taking the lead. He pulls me so I'm straddling his lap and quickly deepens the kiss. When I come up for air a little whine sounds in the back of his throat and I giggle, "yeah, I'll come home with you."
