Beneath them, the engine of the limo rumbles smoothly, San Diego passing by them in the summer dusk. The driver put up the partition on Cait’s request at the beginning of the trip; traffic has made it a slower drive than earlier in the day. The others have retreated back to the hotel in their own cars.
