"Hey, Pumpkin?" Mina's voice, soft and curious, lulls her partner out of the soft quiet of the moment. They look up at her slowly, humming questioningly, "Yes, Peaches?"
She cards her fingers through their hair gently, dragging her nails over their scalp lightly and almost putting them to sleep on the spot, "I think about you all the time."
They hum thoughtfully, tightening their arms around her waist, turning their head to listen to her heart as their legs tangle together. "My heart flutters every time you walk into a room- everything about you is breathtaking."
They listen to her heart beat steadily, eyelids fluttering closed as they listen to her affectionate words, "I love when I make you laugh- your eyes light up, and you always give me the most unrestrained smiles. You could light up a room with your laughter alone. It doesn't flow like a melody, but there's life to it- your life, your radiance, and your perfection. It's everything that you are and then some. I love that you trust me with something so pure and beautiful."
"I love that you can lay here and listen to my heart and enjoy it- I love that you feel safe enough to sleep on top of me. I love when you do that thing with your eyebrows- even though you hate it, I think it's the cutest thing in the world. I love when you smile at me when I gush about how wonderful you are because you don't have the words to say anything back, and I love when people are around and it makes you blush. I love how clumsy you are around me, and how clumsy your words are because you still try to be effortless anyway. I love how you are effortless, in the most awkward way possible, and you just don't know it."
They smile at her, and she laughs softly, "There, right there- that's what I'm talking about! You do these things that are the most adorable things on the planet and don't even realize how adorable they are. You are literally everything, and I love you so much for it-"
Mina cuts herself off, choking back a soft sob, then; "Oh my God I just said I love you. Was I supposed to say that? Am I allowed to this early on?" She laughs softly, and her partner laughs, too, a goofy grin of absolute delight taking their face.
"I think you're allowed to say it if you mean it," They replied softly, pressing the side of their cheek to her chest to look up at her timidly, "And I know I mean it."
Mina, for a moment, lets her eyebrows furrow, "But I said it-"
"Mina, I love you so much- you're the sun to my day and the moon to my night." She gasps softly, letting out a watery laugh, "Aw, Pumpkin. I didn't realize you had it in you to be so sappy."
They smile at her, "I didn't think you did, either."
Mina lets out a mocking, affronted gasp, pressing the back of her hand to her head dramatically, "You wound me, darling!"
As they sit there, laughing gently at themselves and each other, they're only certain of one thing in their lives.
Young love can truly be wonderful.
