“No.”
“But-” Mia pouted.
“ I said , No.”
“Why not?” She whined slightly. “I think getting a corgi would be great! They are so cute and tiny and I just wanna cuddle one!” She went on as she imagined cuddling a corgi pup.
Victor sighed. “I could list off many reasons why, mainly one being that we are both too busy to properly care for a puppy.” He sat at his desk. Mia had just finished giving her report.
And she had decided to bring up the topic of adopting a puppy. A corgi to be exact.
"B-but can't we at least try?" She asked, as she looked at him, with a hopeful look in her eyes, trying to get him to change his mind any way possible.
He stared at her with his usual poker face.
She wasn't going to change his mind by trying to be cute.
"You hardly take proper care of yourself, what makes you think that you can take care of a puppy?" He raised an eyebrow as he crossed his arms over his chest.
Mia puffed out her cheeks in slight annoyance as she glared at him. "Hey! I'm trying! And I wouldn't be taking care of the puppy by myself either, you'd help me!"
"I didn't agree to that."
"But you didn't have to, you'd help me regardless."
"That's because you don't know how to care for yourself, Dummy." He sighed.
"Pleaaasssseee, Victor?" She begged, as she gave him a pleading look.
A moment of silence passed between the two of them. Victor mulled over the thought and gave in, "Fine. Just this once."
Mia beamed as she got excited. "R-really? Yay!!" She giggled, smiling at him as she stood up from her seat, walking over to his side and leaning down to give him a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you!!!"
Victor blushed, clearing his throat as he averted his gaze "Don't thank me now, we still have to find a shelter that has corgi puppies."
"On it!" She smiled as she then quickly left his office, leaving behind a flustered Victor.
After a moment, a small smile crossed his lips, he let out a soft chuckle. "Dummy…" He muttered softly as he went back to work.
--
The day of the set adoption came quicker than expected. Mia was lucky to find a good animal shelter that had corgi puppies who were just a few weeks if not months old.
Week or so prior to the set appointment, Victor and Mia had gotten everything they needed to care for the puppy and were prepared to bring the little guy home!
And so as of this moment, they were finishing signing off on the adoption papers, Mia anxiously yet excitedly waited to get her hands on the puppy.
"Alright, you're all set! The puppy is now yours." The shelter counselor announced with a smile on their face.
Mia couldn't be anymore happier, she was practically bouncing with joy in her seat and even as they walked out with the puppy in the carrier.
Victor could tell she was overly happy and excited to have the puppy, and seeing her so happy made the corners of his mouth twitch upwards.
Even on the drive home, she was still bouncing in her seat. Thrilled to take the pup home and to spend time with him.
Victor let out a chuckle, yet he kept his eyes on the road ahead "You really are excited."
Mia looked at him, blushing slightly. "O-of course! I've dreamed of getting a puppy and now that it came true, I'm so happy!" She smiled brightly.
Victor smiled more as he came to a stop sign, he looked at her. "I'm glad."
She blushed more as she then looked away, trying to hide her red cheeks from him. While Victor focused his attention back on the road as they began moving once again.
A moment of silence between them both. "Do you have a name in mind for him?" He asked.
Mia thought about it for a while, "Hm… Not yet. I mean I've thought about what to name him but none of the names I thought of seem to fit."
Another moment of silence passed. Before long, Mia then suddenly got a bright idea. "Oooh! How about we name him, Pudding?"
Victor came to another stop parking in front of their house, he looked at her, shaking his head with a small laugh.
"Of course, you'd name our puppy after food. Is that really all you think about?" He teased lightly.
She puffed out her cheeks as she grew red in the face. "It's not my fault, you make great food! I think Pudding would suit him, it's cute!"
"It suits him." He agreed with a smile as they both got out of the car. Mia excitedly took the carrier out from the backseat as the couple made their way to the front door, opening it.
Mia set the carrier down in the living room as she tried to hold back all her excitement. She quickly made herself comfortable.
"You should try to calm down a little, you don't want to overwhelm or scare the little guy." Victor spoke as he made himself more comfortable.
Mia sighed as she tried to calm herself down. "I know.." She sat the carrier on the floor, as she sat herself down on the floor, unlocking the carrier door, taking a look in.
"Hey there, little Pudding~" she cooed lightly as she watched the little corgi pup slowly peak out, taking in his new surroundings. His new home.
He got out of the carrier, as he looked up at Mia, then at Victor. His new owners. His eyes then went back to Mia as he let out a little bark before making his way into Mia's lap.
Mia tried so hard to control her squeals of joy. He was just so cute! How could she not squeal at his adorableness?
She has seen so many cute pictures and videos of corgi pups online, which initially sparked her interest in wanting a puppy. But having one in front of her makes it all the more cuter!
Pudding looked up at Mia, his little tail wagging with joy and even a bit of excitement as he let out another small bark at her.
She gently began petting him, stroking his fur lightly enough to not overwhelm him or make him scared of her.
Mia smiled. "He's so cute!!" She cooed, "Why are you so adorable?? I just wanna give you so many cuddles~" She purred lightly, picking him up gently into her arms.
He curled up comfortably, lightly licking her cheek, barking softly. She let out a giggle.
Watching the two of them already getting along so well, made Victor's heart warm with love.
He sat on the couch, silently watching them with a smile. They looked so cute together. Even though he felt against the idea of having a puppy, he definitely was coming around to being glad that he agreed to it.
Not that he would admit it to Mia. She didn't need to know.
Mia felt his gaze on her as she then looked at him. "Victor don't you wanna hold him?"
Victor snapped out of his thoughts as he nodded. "Oh.. Sure."
She stood up, holding Pudding close as she then shifted the puppy into Victor's arms.
Pudding took interest in Victor as he gazed at him intently, with a happy look in his eyes. He let out another bark as he also leaned forward, licking his face.
Victor chuckled, as he softly ran his fingers over his fur.
Mia giggled, "Aww! Pudding likes you already!!" She cooed, smiling.
Pudding barked once again in agreement, as his little tail wagged with joy. Yet he continued to lick at Victor's face.
Victor let out a small laugh as he pulled away, "Alright, alright, I like you too, silly dog." He smiled.
He lightly booped Pudding's nose, "You're not that bad.." In response to that Pudding licked his finger and let out a happy bark, growing excited. He nuzzled his little face against Victor's neck.
Victor let out another chuckle, he softly scratched behind Pudding's ears, while petting him. "Already, you remind me of a certain dummy." He grinned, as he teased before gazing at Mia.
Who flushed and pouted at his comment, she averted her gaze. Victor's grin turned into a smirk before he set the puppy down.
Pudding began to roam freely, once again taking in his surroundings. The two of them watched him carefully, making sure that he would be okay.
Mia then looked at Victor, smiling as she then wrapped her arms around him in a hug. "Thank you Victor.. For making my dream come true. And…"
She rested her head against his chest. "For being a part of my life." She softly spoke, honestly.
Victor looked down at her, wrapping his arms around her waist. Once again, the corners of his mouth rose up into a handsome smile. "Dummy… I should be the one thanking you."
He leaned down placing a soft kiss to the top of her head, softly moving a hand to stroke her hair. "Thank you for being a part of my life. I love you. " He softly whispered into her ear as he held her.
Mia blushed as she looked up at him, a smile forming on her face. "I love you too, Victor."
A few little barks could be heard beneath them, making them both look down seeing Pudding who was curiously looking up at them.
Mia then picked up Pudding into her arms. "And of course, I love you too, Pudding!" She giggled as she gave him a little kiss on his head.
Victor brought his hand up to lightly pet Pudding, who nuzzled his head into Victor's hand. He smiled. 'I love you too, little guy.' He thought as he looked between Mia and Pudding. 'Always…'
