Magic exists
But some ppl have curse marks and thus spl abilities, meant for a specific fate (and they can't do magic)
Toichi is alive
Shinichi lived with the mouris since age 10 bc his misfortune drawing curse Mark's effects are countered by Kogoro's magic nullification field (he is still a murder magnet)
Kaishin were childhood friends, lost contact and recently reunited
Ran and Sonoko found Shinichi at tropical land when he turned into Conan so they knew from the start
BO, using the front of an association studying curse mark nullification is actually trying to twist and abuse their great magics to their own end (haibaras age reversal curse magic was stored in an amulet and used on Shinichi bc it normally deages ppl out of existence; he survived bc he has 9 cat lives blessing; shiho used her magic on herself to become a child and approached Conan)
Kaito has discovered Conan's identity on second meeting and wants to help -
