Chapter 1: Y/N Aizawa: Origin

Chapter Text

"Thank you." You studied your exam card. It read: Aizawa, Y/N; Exam Area: 2C . You had refused to take the recommendation exam. Your adoptive father yelled at you, but then relented.

"Fine. How in the world did I manage to raise such an irrational child?" he said. Remembering this, you laughed. Your father was very cranky sometimes. You started to head to the auditorium.

Just then, someone bumped into you from behind.

Both you and the other fell onto the ground. The other recovered first, and stood up. He held out a hand to you. "A-are y-you okay?! I-I'm so s-sorry!" The boy had curly green hair, wide green eyes, and freckles. He was wearing a blue tracksuit and was holding an exam card.

You took his hand and stood up. You smiled easily. "I'm fine, don't worry about it! Are you taking the exam for U.A. too?" The boy nodded shyly and quickly.

"Let's walk together and talk!" You gestured indoors. The boy calmed down, and both you and the boy started to walk side by side.

         "What's your name?"

The boy replied, "I'm Izuku Midoriya! Nice to meet you!"

You laughed. "No need to shout...." Midoriya blushed and apologized profusely-"Nice to meet you too! I'm Y/N Aizawa. By the way....."

         "Huh?" Midoriya looked confused.

"I heard Uncle Yagi and Grandma Chiyo talking about someone named Midoriya, about their quirk. Is that you?"

         Midoriya panicked. "Oh, uh......That's n-not m-me! I.......uh......."

         "....." Your face darkened. He's lying....but why?

"Um....Aizawa-san? Are you all right?" Midoriya looked at you worriedly. Don't say anything now, he doesn't seem like he has bad intentions. You smiled at him.

"Don't worry about it, Midoriya-kun! Call me Y/N." You fiddled with your exam card.

Midoriya calmed down. "Y/N-san.....why do you call All Might and Recovery Girl like relatives? Are you related to them?!" He looked excitedly at you. Somehow, a notebook and pen materialized in his hands. You sweatdropped. Where did he get that from?

"I'm not blood related to either of them, no, but my adoptive father is a hero. I've spent a lot of time with many heroes, so I consider them my family!" You grinned.

Midoriya asked quickly, "Please tell me about all of them! All of the heroes!" You nodded. Please don't kill me for telling him this, guys. you silently begged  all of the heroes you knew well. You continued walking along, Midoriya furiously jotting down notes on the heroes as you talked.

"So Kamui Woods and Mount Lady actually get along well, despite their rivalry...." You both went inside the auditorium and sat next to a spiky, blond-haired boy Midoriya called 'Kacchan'. You studied him closely.

"What are you looking at?!" The blond boy barked.

You raised your palms in surrender. "Relax. You're Midoriya's friend, right? What's your name?"

"Nobody in their right mind would call that shrimp their friend." The blond put his feet up on a chair in front of him, earning loud protests from the chair's occupant. The blond intimidated the person in front until he turned back around.

He laughed. "Stupid extras." You sighed. He seems like a handful.... You noticed the name on the blond's exam card. Bakugo, Katsuki.

"That explains the nickname 'Kacchan'." You said aloud.

"What'd you call me, extra?!" Bakugo stood up, grabbed the collar of your jacket, and pulled. Midoriya flailed around, trying to help you, to the point where Bakugo snapped, "Shut up, Deku!"

Calmly, you replied, "I heard Midoriya-kun call you Kacchan, so it makes sense that's your nickname when your first name is Katsuki, Bakugo-san."

"Tch!" Bakugo let go, sinking back into his seat. He glared at you. "And what about you? What's your name, extra?"

"Y/N Aizawa." You replied shortly, and sat down as a shades-wearing yellow haired hero named Present Mic arrived on the stage. Almost subconsciously, you put on the headphones that were around your neck. Oh, since Uncle Hizashi's farther away, it might be okay to not wear these.

Just as you pulled the headphones off, Mic screamed, "EVERYONE SAY HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!!!!" NEVER mind. Everyone covered their ears and didn't say a word.

You almost laughed at the wounded look on Mic's face. Mic recovered then continued, "Y'ALL READY TO TAKE THE TEST!!!" No response.

Poor guy. Coughing, Mic continued with talking about the exam. When he mentioned the exam areas, you turned to Midoriya and Bakugo. "What areas are you guys assigned to?"

Midoriya looked up from his muttering and said, "2A" as Bakugo said "2D". Bakugo crossed his arms.

He explained, "It's so people from the same area don't work together. You shrimps get to survive another day." He scoffed. You sighed and focused back on Mic.

"THREE TYPES OF MACHINES WILL BE WANDERING AROUND THE EXAM AREA!!!! DEPENDING ON THE TYPE THEY WILL BE 1, 2, OR 3 POINTS." Mic was then interrupted by a dark haired boy with glasses who looked like a typical honor student.

"Excuse me! But there are four machines listed on the brochure! Such a mistake should not occur in the prestigious academy known as U.A.!" he shouted. You then recognized him and bit back a laugh.

Tenya-kun is as straight-laced as ever. He turned to you and the boys next to you. "And you! The boy with the green hair! Stop muttering, it's distracting!" Tenya glared at Midoriya. Midoriya blushed and looked down. Since Tenya didn't notice you, you wanted to speak up and defend Midoriya, but before you could, Mic shouted.

"NICE CATCH, LITTLE LISTENER! THE FOURTH MACHINE IS WORTH 0 POINTS! IT'S THERE TO GET IN YOUR WAY!" Mic then concluded by saying, "I'LL LEAVE YOU WITH OUR SCHOOL MOTTO BEFORE WE START!"

        "GO BEYOND.........PLUS ULTRA!!!!!!!"

Then, the area behind Present Mic opened up to reveal open space with doors a few feet away from the auditorium. Everyone filed down to the area. You waved to Midoriya and Bakugo, the latter scowling and turning away, the former giving you a nervous smile and waving too.

"So.....this is 2C." You strode to the area you were assigned to. While you waited for Mic to tell them to start, you practiced using your quirk on a rock on the ground. It went up, and down. Then finally you clenched your hand in a fist. The rock turned into dust.

A voice behind you said, "That's a manly quirk! What is it?!" You turned around. The speaker was a boy with spiky red hair and red eyes and sharp teeth.

The boy grinned sheepishly. "Did I distract you? My bad!"

You just stared. He's so wholesome!

You then finally spoke up. "Thanks for the compliment!" You laughed slightly-"My quirk's called Ultra Mentality. It's a flashy name, but all I can do is telekinesis and telepathy. Plus a little poltergeisting."

The boy held up a fist and, tears at the corner of his eyes, started..... sparkling? He said, "So manly!" You laughed.

         "What about you?"

"My quirk's called Hardening!" To demonstrate, he put his fists together and his arms turned into what looked like skin-colored rock. You clapped. "Awesome!"

His arms turned back to normal. "Oh, I forgot to introduce myself! Not manly at all! I'm Eijiro Kirishima! What's your name?" He gave you such a radiant smile you had to shield your eyes from the brightness.

"I'm Y/N Aizawa!" You smiled, about to say something else, but then Mic yelled, "START! THE DIE HAS BEEN CAST!"

Everyone started running, you and Kirishima next to each other. "Good luck, Kirishima-kun!" "You too, Aizawa-san!"

You ran into a street, surveying your surroundings, when a 2-pointer lumbered into your path. You raised a hand to shield your eyes from the glare and looked up. "Man, that's huge. Nezu, you sadist." You could almost hear the hybrid laughing in his office, drinking tea while he watched the exams.

Regardless, you levitated a large piece of building from the machine and threw it at its head, the extra strength from your quirk propelling it. It hit its mark, denting it and knocking it over. You raised the piece again, and slammed it on the machine's 'brain', rendering it broken. You pumped your fist.

"Yes!" You ran around, knocking out machines as best as you could with minimal wounds to yourself. But then your drawback started to kick in. You started to float slightly. You grabbed onto a street light to keep from falling over, much to the amusement of those around you. Once you got your bearings, you slowly tried to inch along to find another machine to take down.

"Aizawa-san!" Still trying to keep your balance, you tried to find the source of the voice. It was Kirishima. "Are you okay, Aizawa-san?!"

"Yes, I'm okay, Kirishima-kun! Just one of my quirk's drawbacks. Don't worry about it!"

"I can't just leave you here!"

"You have to continue the exam!" Just then, as you said that, Kirishima picked you up in a princess carry and started running.

        "Kirishima-kun! What are you doing?!"

"It wouldn't be manly to leave you here like this! How long does your drawback last?"

"With how much I've used it, I have roughly five minutes left. Do you have a good amount of points?"

        "Yeah! Thirty-eight! You?"

        "Thirty-five!"

Just then, a one-pointer appeared, about to step on you and Kirishima. He leapt back with you still in his arms. "What should we do?!" Kirishima asked you.

"You can take it down if you put me on the ground, right?" Kirishima started to protest, but you interrupted. "My drawback is almost over, so it's fine. Go."

Gently, Kirishima set you down, with you holding onto a streetlight. Then he ran off to fight the one-pointer, which he defeated with no problem. By then, your drawback had finished, leaving you standing on your own two feet. You started walking next to Kirishima, occasionally having idle conversation. Suddenly, you heard screaming not too far away. You and Kirishima looked at each other and started running.

The zero-pointer! It was even bigger than the other machines.

"NEZU!" You glared at a security camera nearby.

Nezu stared at the screen as he drank his tea. He laughed once he saw you glaring at the camera. He could imagine what you were saying and thinking.

"Ha, ha. Eraser, your daughter has quite a temper."

"What is that irrational child doing now?" A scarf wearing man with long black hair and tired eyes, your father, walked up behind Nezu's chair and looked at the camera. He put his head in his hands. "That idiot."

You were using the poltergeisting part of your quirk to try and take down the zero-pointer while Kirishima helped people who were trapped under rubble. "Why isn't she running away or getting someone else to help? That kid is too heroic for her own good."

          "Isn't that a good thing?"

From behind his scarf, Aizawa's lips quirked up in a small smile as you and the others dealt a damaging blow to the machine. "I suppose so."

"Kirishima-kun!" You shouted as you ran towards the zero-pointer. "Get the trapped kids away from here while I fight this thing!"

The sharp-toothed boy agreed, and started lifting rubble off the trapped examinees. The examinees who weren't severely injured aided Kirishima with freeing the others. You, on the other hand, were using your quirk to punch the machine from a distance. It wasn't making too much damage.

You groaned in frustration. You didn't know how long you had until your drawback would kick in. Just then, when you were trying to figure out how to attack the machine next, its arm smacked into you, launching you through the air. You hit a brick wall hard, and slumped down. Shakily, you raised a hand to the back of your head. It came away red.

You tried to stand up. It was a little dizzying, but you managed to stand straight despite the bleeding on your head.

Worriedly, you looked up at the machine. A few more good blows and it should be defeated, but you didn’t know if you’d be strong enough. And there was still two minutes on the clock.

“Aizawa-san!” You turned around. Kirishima and a group of examinees were looking at you. “Let us help!” Your eyes widened, then you grinned.

“Sure!” You all charged the machine together. Just as you all defeated the machine by everyone using their quirks all at once, Mic yelled, “IT’S ALL OOOOOOOOVER!”

“Yes!” Everyone cheered. Suddenly, your dizziness set in and you started falling over. You were caught by strong arms. You looked up and saw Kirishima. He smiled down at you.

        “Nice, Aizawa-san!”

“Thank you, call me Y/N, Kirishima-kun!” Just then, Recovery Girl headed over to the two of you.

“Any injuries I need to heal?” She inquired.

“Grandma Chiyo! I’m, uh, fine!” You stood up unsteadily. Recovery Girl sighed.

“What am I going to do with you, Y/N?” She used her quirk on you, and you became as good as new.

“Th-thank you,” You said sheepishly. She handed you some candy.

She then kissed Kirishima and the others to heal their wounds and gave them candy as well. Then, everyone started to head out of the area.

Once everyone was out, you tapped Kirishima’s shoulder. He looked at you. “Hm?”

“Do you mind if I give you my number? I’d like to be friends.” You smiled.

He grinned happily and agreed, handing you his phone for you to put your number in. IN exchange, you gave him your phone. Quickly, you typed in your number in Kirishima’s contacts, and handed the phone back. You took your phone back once Kirishima put his number in. Once you put the phone in your pocket, it buzzed.

       Kirishima: Hi :)

You laughed, and typed a response.

      You: Hi :D

“Let me know whether you get in or not.” You said. “Talk later?”

Kirishima grinned. “Of course! You too!” You two separate and as you’re walking, you run into Bakugo and Midoriya.

“How did you two do?” You asked.

“Well enough.” Bakugo said shortly. Midoriya looked downcast.

“I’m not sure.” He mumbled. Oh.

You smiled anyways. “Can I have your guys’ numbers? I want to keep in touch in case either I or one or both of you don’t get in U.A.”

Midoriya brightened. “Sure!” You exchanged numbers with Midoriya. Once he left, you turned to Bakugo.

“Can I have your number too?”

“Why do I care if I keep in contact with you or not?” He glared at you.

“Bakugo-san, I’d like us to at least become friendly acquaintances. And besides, don’t you want to be a hero? I’m close to many heroes, so it could be useful knowing me.”

Bakugo thought for a moment. “How do I know you’re not lying?” He said finally.

You showed him the list of contacts on your phone.

      ….

He ran a hand through his hair and stuck a hand out. “Fine. Hand it over.” You handed him your phone, and you exchanged numbers. Then you two returned the phones to their owners.

“Talk to you later, Bakugo-san!” You smiled and waved as he walked away. At first he was silent, then he stopped, raised a hand and waved without turning around. Then he left.

      You then walked back home.

I wonder if Dad’s arrived home yet. You thought, as you took off your shoes and stepped inside. Once you closed the door, your father’s capture cloth wrapped around your arms and torso and pulled you onto a chair.

“H-huh?” Looking up, you saw Aizawa glaring at you, using his quirk to keep you from using your quirk to escape.
“What’s this I heard about you being in a boy’s arms?” The cloth tightened.

“H-he was just h-helping me!” You struggled to escape.

“With what?” Aizawa’s eyes bored into yours.

“M-my drawback w-was k-kicking in, a-and I had a i-injury, s-so he d-decided to h-help!” Apparently satisfied with this explanation, Aizawa released you and stopped using his quirk, his hair falling over his eyes.

“Don’t ever do that again, alright?” You nodded. Aizawa started ranting.

“Did you know how embarrassed I was? I step away for a few seconds and when I get back, everyone starts teasing me because my idiotic daughter was in the arms of a boy and tried to fight the zero-pointer by herself. Yamada and Kayama’s exact words were: ‘Oh look, Y/N-chan has a boyfriend. She’s disobeying her dad now.’ With way too much laughing involved.”

You started getting annoyed too. You and Aizawa spoke in unison, “Next time I see them, I’m going to kill those two.” You two looked at each other in surprise.

You laughed, and Aizawa just sighed and turned away, getting into his yellow sleeping bag and mumbling, “I’m going to sleep.”

“Go ahead.” You said, opening the fridge. “I’m going to get something to eat then watch TV.” Aizawa grumbled in response and you made yourself a bag of microwave popcorn, grabbed a juice box, and sat on the couch to watch TV.

A week later, even with a lot of begging on your part to Aizawa, you didn’t know whether you got in or not.

“Daaad! Why hasn’t my letter arrived yet?! Kirishima-kun, Midoriya-kun, and Bakugo-san all got theirs already!” you whined.

Aizawa groaned. “Check the mail or something, I think the mail arrived just now.” You finished eating dinner and stood up.

You walked to the mailbox in the lobby of the apartment building. You unlocked it, and looked inside. You took out an envelope with U.A. ACADEMY on the front.

YES! FINALLY! You locked the mailbox and ran up to your apartment.

“DAD! IT’S HERE!” You waved the envelope excitedly. Aizawa covered his ears.

“You’re as loud as Yamada……Go to your room and read it.”

Pouting, you went to your room and opened the envelope as you sat in a chair. You took out a small device on which a hologram popped up.

         “Uncle Yagi!” You grinned.

“Young Y/N, I am here…….to tell you the results of your exam!” All Might struck a pose. “Why am I in this hologram, you ask? Why, I’m going to be a teacher at U.A!”

“.....!” You stared in amazement. “A teacher!”

“You earned forty points taking down the fake villains. However, we weren’t just watching for villain-based points! Take a look at this!” All Might gestured to a screen that showed you in Kirishima’s arms.

          You blushed.

“Oops, not that!” The picture changed to show you fighting the zero pointer while Kirishima rescued the others.

“You and Young Kirishima helped save other examinees. A true mark of a hero! It earns you two Rescue Points! Thirty-five for Young Kirishima, and Sixty for you! Congratulations, Y/N….”

           You grinned with happiness.

“This will be your hero academy!”

The hologram shut off. You cheered and ran out of your room. You ran to Aizawa.

            “Dad! I got in!”

“Great,” he groaned. “Now you’ll give me a headache at school and home. Go to sleep. It’s going to be the first day of school in a few days, and you need to get up early to train tomorrow.”

Aizawa got in his sleeping bag and laid down on the couch. You were about to go back to your room, when you heard a, “Good job, kid.”

You smiled. “Thank you!” Then, you went into your room to sleep.
