Work Text:
It takes Albedo three strokes to make a recognizable picture of Kaeya Alberich: one for his head and two for his eyepatch. Said man is leaning on Albedo's work table, looking at the innocuous drawing with a scrunched eyebrow and his lips pursed.
"Aw, I thought you cared for me a little more," Kaeya teases him, "I'd think you'd illustrate me to the best of your abilities, Sir Albedo."
"I could , you know. This one's for Klee," Albedo replies, "she wanted me to teach her how to draw you." Albedo turns to look at the taller man, "Take care of her for me while I'm away?"
"Is that even a question?" Kaeya raises an eyebrow.
"I guess not," Albedo replies, "Sorry, sometimes I get a little ahead of myself."
"It's nothing. Don't worry about our little Spark Knight, I'll make sure she doesn't raze Wolvendom again. Besides, I know Jean would freak out and call for you the moment Klee causes enough chaos," Kaeya says. " You on the other hand… you better take care of yourself. Don't want you passing out in the middle of nowhere."
"... The sentiment is noted, Calvary Captain Alberich. Now get the hell off my table and let me pack properly— and give that drawing back." Albedo snatches the drawing off Kaeya's hands and folds it neatly. He tucks it into the corner of his luggage, "I may not have the real thing in Dragonspine but that drawing is a sufficient enough copy of yourself to keep me company."
"You wound me, Albedo." Kaeya leans back dramatically, hand on his head, his eye closed. "That drawing is nowhere near as pretty as I am."
"Drama queen," Albedo teases back, the sight makes him want to giggle. "I'll miss you. I'll miss Klee."
"You would," Kaeya replies, "We'd miss you too."
"Hey, it's only a few weeks, I'll be fine," Albedo assures the other, holding his hand and entangling their fingers together. "Yes, I will remind myself to eat. Happy?"
"Don't overwork yourself." Kaeya presses his lips to Albedo's knuckles, "A little birdie told me a special someone was planning to take you out on a picnic the moment you return so you better come back in one piece."
"Tell Klee I'll be looking forward to it," Albedo says. "Stay a while? I don't leave until tomorrow morning."
Kaeya smiles. Not his usual smug smirk this time, but a soft thing, the corner of his mouth edged upward. Albedo pulls the taller man into a hug. "I'm really going to miss these," Kaeya says before kissing Albedo's forehead.
"I will too," Albedo admits, "it's only three weeks. I'll learn to deal with it. Help me pack?"
Kaeya nods. "Whatever you need, my prince." Kaeya actually bows , Albedo laughs, heat already rising to his cheeks and ears.
When his luggage is closed with finality, the rest of the night is spent holding hands and talking until sleep claims them both.
