Fast Paced Feet And Water Droplets

Summary:

Childe and Aether dance together in the rain

Work Text:

“Childe, Childe look!” Aether grabbed Childe’s wrist and drags him to one of the windows, beaming at the rain.

Childe felt slight surprise at Aether’s happy tone, and he smiled, chuckling to himself as Aether excitedly pointed to the rain.

It wasn’t thundering nor raining pretty hard, though it wasn’t a light drizzle either. Childe looked down at the beam on Aether’s face, excitement flashing in his eyes.

Childe could never understand the excitement Aether had for the rain. Even as a hydro user, he didn’t get it. Aether’s excitement for rain made Childe remember Teucer’s first time going out in the snow.

Both were incredibly happy and adorable with those huge smiles on their faces.

Childe grunted in surprise when Aether suddenly started pulling him to the door of their shared home. “Woah woah woah!”, Childe stopped, pulling on Aether’s hand, “what the heck are you doing? It’s raining!”

“That’s right,” Aether beamed, “it’s raining.”

Aether unlocked the door and dragged Childe out into the rain, instantly getting themselves soaked. Whilst Aether was beaming, Childe was a bit weary.

He didn’t want to get a cold and have the Fatui get suspicious of his whereabouts. He built this home in the mountains specifically for him and Aether to be able to hangout and just be friends without any interruption or eyes watching them. It would ruin everything if the Fatui got even a little suspicious of him.

But seeing the smile on Aether’s face and the sparkle in his eyes, Childe didn’t have the heart to voice his concerns.

Aether dragged Childe to the open space in front of them, high up on the mountains. He grabbed both Childe’s hands and placed one on his waist, intertwining his fingers with the other. Childe’s face flushed red.

“Dance with me, Childe.”

Childe gulped as Aether’s hands came up to rest on his shoulders as they waltzed through the rain. Aether giggled occasionally whenever he randomly spun himself, and Childe nearly yelped when he dipped himself, forcing Childe to hold on tighter.

Childe started to be infected by Aether’s happy mood, chuckling along with Aether’s giggles. Soon, their slow dancing turned into fast paced dancing, both of them hopping to an invisible song in their head.

Aether’s hair turned dark blonde from the rain and stuck to his face, framing his baby face. He smiled so widely his eyes creased, laughing an angelic melody whenever Childe spun him or dipped him.

They hopped and spun around, their shoes becoming caked in mud and their bodies drenched. Childe loved the visual of Aether’s long blonde braid spinning around with him and flapping around.

Soon, both of them were laughing and holding each other closely, spinning around and dipping. Aether separated from their semi-hug and spun away, holding himself with Childe’s hand. He spun back, curling Childe’s arm around him and letting his back hit his chest.

Aether looked up at Childe while Childe looked down at him. Both stared into one another’s eyes for a few seconds, before smiling at the same time and resuming their chaotic dance.

Eventually they slowed down to a calm waltz, swaying side to side as their laughter died down. Aether let his head drop to Childe’s shoulder, squeezing his hands lovingly. They stayed like that for a couple minutes, letting the wind choose where their bodies swayed. Aether looked up at Childe, smiling as they both stared deep into each other’s eyes.

‘Aether’s smile is gorgeous’ Childe thought as he untangled their hands, reaching up to slick Aether’s wet hair away from his face. Aether giggled, reaching up to do the same thing to Childe, pinching his nose while he was at it.

They continued to stare at one another as the rain poured down around them, wetting the mountain grounds. Aether slowly reached up to cup Childe’s face, brushing the last remains of hair away from his face.

‘Aether really is gorgeous’ was Childe’s last thought before both their heads leaned forward, lips connecting.

The kiss was, well, wet thanks to the rain, but that hardly deterred them. Aether wrapped his arms around Childe’s neck, pulling him closer. Childe’s hands landed on Aether’s waist.

Aether’s mouth opened before Childe even asked permission, both their tongues meeting. Childe reached down to Aether’s thighs and hoisted him up, Aether quickly wrapping his legs around Childe’s waist. They kiss remained unbroken, Childe gently swaying them both in the rain.

When they separated for air, a thin string of saliva connected their mouths. Aether and Childe stared at one another lovingly, resting their forehead against each other.

“Thanks.”

“Hm?”

“For indulging me. I didn’t think you’d agree to dance in the rain.”

Childe chuckled, squeezing Aether’s thighs. “It definitely caught me off guard, but I think something good came out of it.”

Aether giggled once again as he leaned in for another kiss, a rainbow shining across the sky as the sun peaked out from the clouds.
