Work Text:

The chill has set and the frost had spread for the sun had hidden away in this land. Winter had returned, fully bloomed as it brought the day to its short and blessed the nights towards its peak.

Yet the clamoring hearts of the people had sought the spring for their hero who had longed fallen asleep lay bare of consciousness.

From the times of war and so its peace, the hero, Cale Henituse, had fallen into a slumber—one that seemed akin to curse that yielded to the pleas of the an ivory star.

“Choi Han!” A pair of blue orbs stared at a swordsman dressed in a seemingly lackluster black cloak.

The swordsman’s face softened, smiling faintly at the child as he reach out towards the air and hugged the child.

“What is it, Raon-nim?”
“That story that you told me—sleeping beauty!”
“Hm?”

Choi Han noticed how those blue eyes glittered, the child’s tiny black paws patting his cheeks.

“Do you think it’s possible? But who should kissed the weak human to wake up? Is there another story you can tell me?”

Choi Han ponders, letting Raon free from his embrace as the child hovered above him.

“I think there is? It’s about a mistletoe...”

Raon immediately flee towards the unconscious human after hearing Choi Han’s words. He decided to think and think he did, for he is great and mighty dragon—there surely will be a solution.

“Choi Han! I don’t think we would need to find someone else to kiss the human! He can’t become a couple with anyone else too if he’s asleep!”
“What does—“
“We love him too! Love is love! Love can solve this, right? And he loves us too! That’s why—let’s make that mistletoe!”

And so, a great and mighty plan had commenced, accompanied by the kindled hopes of waking Cale Henituse up with true loves kiss under the mistletoe.

The team of two became four then seven and more. Choi Han goes around describing how mistletoes look whereas Raon tells them his great and mighty plan.

Everyone seemed to have resigned to trust the instinct of the youngest in that household, doing their best to make the prettiest and hopefully the most effective mistletoe.

xxxx, December 24th. 11:47pm.

The first to kiss was the young wolf children and Lock; it was short and soft, afraid of the soft cheeks of Cale Henituse to crumble if they did too much.

Lock chuckled softly, his face and the tips of his ear red. A smile so little yet so grateful laced his lips, nodding at his cousins.

The second one was the Molan patriarch, Ron and his son Beacrox. Honestly, the two of them doesn’t actually want to participate in this plan.

It seemed a tad bit too desperate, clinging to fairytales of unknown origin but who could ever reject the children averaging nine year olds pleading them.

Beacrox held Cale’s cold hands and planted a soft kiss atop his hands whereas his father, Ron kissed Cale’s forehead tenderly like a grandfather fond of his grandson.

There was also Mary, Bud, Gashan, Rosalyn, Dodori who was crying and then...

“Orabuni.” Lily called softly, she smiled so wide as she forced herself to giggle. “Please wake up, okay?” Before kissing her oldest brother’s cheeks as she intertwined their hands.

Basen quietly placed a kiss who was then followed by Violan who kissed between Cale’s eyebrows.

“We’ll wait for you.” She says, scooting aside as she glanced at her husband who looked terrible as he glanced over his unconscious son.

Deruth sauntered towards Cale and kneeled down, he held his son’s hands and rubbed them onto his cheeks as if feeling the slight warm of his eldest.

“Cale...” he croaked, biting his lower lip as he leaned over to kissed his son’s forehead. “You are my son.”

Deruth didn’t seemed to know what else to say. He wanted Cale to wake up and yet he wanted him to rest more. He didn’t know what sort of things might’ve happened if Cale wakes up so soon.

Things have always been uncertain and inevitable.

“...that is why, rest as long as you want. We can always wait.”

There was also Eruhaben who used magic to kiss Cale nonchalantly as he motioned the children over.

“It’s our turn, nya.” says Hong as he looked Raon and his older sister.

“Who goes first?”
“I’m the youngest out of the three of us so I should be the first!”
“I’m red just as Cale so it should be me!”

On sighed as she shook her head at the two.

“Why don’t we three do it at the same time?”
“At the same time?”
“How?”

On sat atop Cale’s chest comfortably as she pointed Cale’s face with her paws.

“I and Hong will kiss Cale’s cheeks and Raon will kiss his nose. That way—“
“Let’s do it noona!”
“You are great and mighty!”

The children took their positions and scoot closer to Cale’s face.

Tsup!

The three leaned back to check the human’s condition but nothing seemed to have changed.

The ambience of the room faintly dropped. Raon looked towards Choi Han whose arms and hands are full of handmade mistletoes.

Determination and eagerness flashed in Raon’s eyes, he kissed Cale again and again then licked Cale’s nose.

On and Hong seemed to have noticed his determination whereas Choi Han approvingly nodded.

The three children began licking Cale’s face as the last attempt of waking him up. They seemed desperate that the adults in the room couldn’t helped but shake.

Someone wanted to stopped the three until an all too familiar groan could be heard.

It was a voice they haven’t heard in a long time. It was a voice they missed hearing.

“Human!” Raon’s boisterously voice boomed, tears cascading down the dragon’s cheeks as he hugged his person.

On and Hong couldn’t helped their tears as well as they hugged Cale. The receiver of the tears and the hugs jolted softly, petting Raon’s and Hong’s head.

“...why are you three crying?” Yet the three bawled their eyes out, sniffling and their snots falling.

“...my face feels so sticky...”
