The heir of a duke, Katsuki’s been on a downward spiral ever since a prince stole something precious from him. Now that prince is dead, and his widowed princess needs guarding.

They stared at each other, an ocean of history and emotion and time between them. Katsuki wanted to reach out, to gather Izuku in his arms and hold him there. To finally affirm that they really were back together after so long.
But he couldn’t.
He didn’t know if Izuku would welcome that after so long. If he’d want to risk getting Katsuki’s scent on him, where the chaperone might be able to smell it. Katsuki wanted it so bad. It was all he’d wanted for years, what he had spent nights and days on the battlefield yearning for. He would cut off a limb if he thought the sacrifice might let him do it, would cast himself into the depths of hell for just the chance.
But there was no reward or outcome that could tempt him to risk Izuku’s reputation or happiness. He’d bargain and risk his own, but not Izuku’s.
