“Do you know how much more likely you are to have an accident riding a motorcycle than driving a car?” Dazai asked.
“No, but I’m sure you’re about to tell me,” Chuuya answered rolling his eyes.
“Only last year-…”
“I don’t care! Isn’t she gorgeous?”
Chuuya was just showing off his new motorcycle to Dazai. He had a car already but there was something more freeing about motorcycles, and so he got one as soon as he could. It might not have been the fastest on the market or the most advanced one but to Chuuya it was still the most beautiful thing in the world.
“I don’t understand why can’t we just go in your car.” Dazai said. They were supposed to meet up with boss Mori for a briefing and if they didn’t leave soon, they would be late. “Or take a train. Or a bus. Or walk.”
“We need to hurry, right? And I already have my gear on and I have a spare helmet and a jacket for you. It’ll be fine.”
Just as he said that he dropped a helmet on Dazai’s head securing the straps below his chin. Dazai unwillingly put the jacket on and sighed.
Chuuya scowled.
“You know, for someone who seeks death almost every day you’re pretty scared of accidents.”
“That’s because you’re also more likely to get injured or crippled in a bike accident than to actually die.”
“Oh, really?”
Chuuya was already in place, waiting for Dazai to finally cave in and take the seat behind him. The other man sighed again and followed his partner.
As soon as he sat down he immediately hugged Chuuya tightly around the waist, refusing to let go even after Chuuya promised he wouldn’t go too fast.
Well, if Dazai was so scared of reckless driving Chuuya would show him the most reckless ride he could ever have. Which was easy when you have a gravity controlling ability. The thick jacket prevented Dazai from using No Longer Human so Chuuya could go all the way.
They went way above the speed limit, cutting corners, going over pedestrian paths and sometimes even up the walls if there was not enough room.
At first Dazai was screaming at Chuuya to slow down and stop this nonsense but as soon as he realized that For the Tainted Sorrow provided a perfect safety net, he joined Chuuya in his gleeful laughter. Rushing up the mafia skyscraper, it felt as if they could go anywhere in the world and nothing was able to stop them. The view of entire Yokohama together with its ports below made their hearts pump faster.
When Chuuya parked on the rooftop, both of them stayed on the motorcycle, panting, blushing from excitement and still smiling.
On impulse, Dazai grabbed Chuuya by the collar and crushed their moths together.
“That was amazing!” he exclaimed, eyes shining. “We need to do it again!”
