Summary
I wrote a canon-compliant backstory about the Thurgilson brothers, because the world needs way more Sigefrid and Erik!!
The story starts with Erik's birth under the full moon, and it follows the brothers all the way to Beamfleot where they kidnap a certain princess. Along the way, it depicts what growing up with Sigefrid would have been like for Erik, what shaped their unique relationship, how they joined the raids to become Vikings and then war lords.This first part, Homeland, takes place in Norway during their childhood and teenage years. It's a family drama about childhood/teenage psychopathy with a Viking twist. It's also a first love story.
I tried not to shy away from darker aspects of the brothers' lives and personalities: Erik and Sigefrid were violent people living through a violent time, and Sigefrid is very much a psychopath despite also being a funny man. I also tried to capture how funny and lovable they can be, despite it all.
