Work Text:

Kaminari had over-used his quirk in training once again. Depending on the situation, he had three different possible "modes" to go into when he did this—one being the well-known "idiot yay mode," which was rather uncommon as he matured with his quirk.
Two was the most common, driven by adrenaline and true brain damage, made up of disassociation and panic attacks. Three, however, happened occasionally, but never in a real fight. It was a child-like state, ruled mainly by amnesia.
Regardless of what state he was in, he was vulnerable, and Bakugou tended to care for him through angry complaints.
"Baku," Denki drug out the sound, stumbling and crashing into the explosive blond and laughing quietly.
"Dumbass," Kat pushed him away. He took a sip of a red smoothie and pushed Denki down to sit on the floor.
Denki hugged Kat's leg happily and hummed some forgotten tune. Drool leaked from the side of his mouth, rubbing onto Katsuki's loose blue pants.
Kat leaned down and held Kami's face with one hand. "Dunce face, why the hell do you keep clinging onto me? It's annoying as fuck. Go bother raccoon eyes over there."
Kaminari only laughed and headbutted Kat. They both shouted, pain spiking through their skulls. Katsuki growled while Kami whined. The idiot teared up and bit his lip hard enough for it to turn white, and even tear a bit to show red.
"Hey!" Kat mindlessly pressed the side of the smoothie cup to Kami's head. "Quit biting yourself. Is this better, you big baby?"
Kami sniffed and weakly held Kat's wrist in place, leaning into the cool relief. His golden eyes slowly fluttered shut, expression easing into relaxation.
"That's better." Kat wiped the pink drool from Denki's lip and chin. "You want a sip?"
"Sip?" Denki echoed, looking up. "Yeah, a sip."
Kat handed him the drink and scanned the room. Amongst the lockers, others glanced over at Mr. Lightning Dummy often, but steered clear of the mess that he was. They must've all been thinking the same thing—he probably doesn't remember me right now.
Denki took a few hefty sips before wincing and touching his lip.
"Yeah, you bit it, pikachu." Bakugo rolled his eyes. "You're fine."
Denki pouted and gave the cup back. He ran his fingers over the damaged lip, poking and rubbing the area and causing more damage as he did.
"Why do I always get stuck with you?!" Bakugo groaned, grabbing Denki's wrists. Denki yelped in response and looked at Kat with wide eyes. "Don't look at me like that. Quit hurting yourself, stupid!"
"Sorry…" Denki muttered softly, not breaking eye contact. "I...head hurts."
Kat tightened his grip, frustration building in his chest like a rising tide. "Duh." He spat through clenched teeth.
Denki reached up and wrapped his arms around Kat's neck, sighing softly. "Sleepy…"
"You're so damn annoying!" Kat wrapped one arm under Denki's ass to hold him up and the other around his torso so he wouldn't fall. He made his way upstairs, screaming at anyone who got in his way.
He practically threw Denki onto his bed, rolling his eyes when he noticed the lightning bolts on the duvet. Denki made a grunting noise as the wind got knocked out of his lungs for a moment, and then rubbed his eyes.
Katsuki turned tail. Denki cried out, "no, don't go! Don't wanna be alone! It...it hurts, 'm scared! Bam bam! Bam bam! Baku! Stay! Stay!" His voice was high and shaky, words coming out in a panicked rush.
Kat curled his hands up into fists. "You're fine! Just close your eyes!"
Denki gave a sharp hiccup. "Please keep me safe…!"
Bakugo whipped around and let his irritation explode from his palms. "Just go to sleep before I blow your damn head off!"
A moment of silence followed. Denki flinched, and then looked down at his hands. His face quickly turned red, and screwed up tight. Tears began falling quietly, and he slowly sank into the blankets, suppressing sobs and shudders with everything he had in him.
Kat rubbed his face. Fine. Whatever. "I'm not doing this for you." He announced as he made his way across the room. "I'm only doing this because I have to make sure you don't hurt yourself and I'm the only one who will pay enough attention!"
He made his way into the blankets, and Denki flipped over and pressed his face into Kat's chest before he had even made his way onto the bed. He muffled whimpers and squeaks with Kat's shirt, holding on for dear life.
Katsuki was already regretting this. Oh well. Whatever.
At least Denki was cute. At least, once he fell asleep, his face was round and soft-looking. At least his mess of hair looked funny all messy--the lightning bolt shape looked more like a dotted line to let toddlers trace and learn how to write. At least he was warm and fit perfectly against Katsuki's frame. At least Denki's cheek was softly squished up against his collarbone. At least he got a good nap for once.

Denki woke with his face coated in his own slimy drool. He groaned and pulled himself up off of the warm body—he assumed Kirishima or Sero, maybe Shinso—and rubbed one eye, glancing at the clock on his side table. Seven p.m. Well, he wouldn't be getting a full night's rest. The last thing he remembered was training.
He must've fried his brain. Dammit. He'd lost a lot of time. He rolled over and stared at the ceiling for a moment. "Hey, thanks for staying, but I'm fine now…" he'd need to recharge, and then he wouldn't be able to sleep, and the sun was already down, so he might as well just pull an all-nighter now…
The voice that replied made him stiffen. "What, so just like that, you shoo me out?"
"Bakugo…?" Alright, Denki, take deep breaths. Breathe in. Breathe in, dummy. Breathe in. Breathe--okay, finally…
"You don't remember?" He groaned and threw himself out of the bed. "You never remember!"
"S-sorry…?" Denki scratched the back of his head. "I can't help it."
"Whatever!" Bakugo shouted. "I never should've stayed."
"I appreciate it…" Denki whispered in reply. "Do you...stay often…?"
"No, but you always follow me like a puppy!" Bakugo spat. "You're so annoying!"
"Then why did you stay?" He prompted, tilting his head to the side with a teasing grin.
"Because you whined like a little baby!" Bakugo groaned. "You would've hurt yourself!"
"I didn't know you cared," Denki leaned forward with mock romanticism.
"I don't!" Baku growled. "It's the last fucking time I do anything nice for you anyways!"
Denki chuckled. Bakugo turned and left, pure spite dripping from his face. It was insanely amusing.
He totally cared. Actions do speak louder than words, after all.
