“I thought I told you to stay in bed while I got you something warm to drink.” A concerned redhead whispered softly as he set down a tray of tea next to the younger one's bed.
“I know, but it got boring!” Klee beamed, flashing the man a massive grin. “Why don’t you play with me?”
“While you’re sick?” Diluc sighed. “I do not think so, get back in bed please.”
Klee pouted as she scrambled up to her bed that was higher than necessary. She liked being up in the ‘clouds’, she would say. But truth be told it just reminded her of being up on Albedo’s 'elevator’, she would call it. It was adorable though, so he allowed it, although it didn’t seem like the safest option since she was sick at the moment.
Carefully wrapping a few blankets around herself like a burrito, Klee nodded up at Diluc, who in turn placed another heavy blanket on her. She liked when she was all wrapped up, it made her feel warm and soft like those beautiful dandelions she would go out and pick with Lisa. Lisa often spoiled Klee, which Diluc did not approve of.
“Would you like some tea?” Diluc asked, setting his hand down beside the tray. Klee thought for a moment and nodded with a smile before she poked and prodded around the burrito-mountain of blankets, allowing her arm to stick out freely, able to take the tea in her petite hand and drink it herself.
Diluc took his eyes off of the tray for a moment to glance at her.
“It’s hot,” He only sighed after, slowly pouring the warm and bitter liquid into the refined tea cup. He could see his bitter expression in the reflection of the shiny cup, and attempted to lighten up a little. “Be careful please.”
Klee nodded once more, slowly taking the cup from Diluc, feeling the temperature rise in her cheeks as she took in the fresh scent of green tea.
“Hey daddy?” Klee said as she gently blew her tea, attempting to cool it down. When she dipped her finger slightly inside the cup to feel the temperature, Diluc’s frown deepened for a split second as he nodded as an approval for her to go on. “How come mommy never visits me when I’m sick?”
Diluc frowned once more.
“She’s just busy at times, you know, being the acting grandmaster and all,” Diluc sighed heavily as he sat down by where Klee’s feet were. He shifted away from it quickly, worried that he accidentally sat on it and whispered a soft, ‘
sorry’
.
“I know, but can’t she like, make up a lie and come see me?” Klee pouted as she handed her tea cup, now empty, back to Diluc. He poured another serving for her, and allowed her to resume her ranting. “I mean, I do it all the time to see her!”
Diluc snorted. “Yes, you most certainly do the wildest things to see your mother.”
Klee had the nerve to continue to smile innocently as she carried on slowly sipping her tea. Klee soon grew bored and decided to start a conversation again, they talked about nothing in particular, Diluc barely pitching into the conversation since she kept talking over him, but it was nice, it was what they always did.
After what felt like an hour, Diluc glanced over at his watch, it was noon now, time for Diluc to head out and for Klee to take a nap.
As Klee struggled to wriggle out of her blankets and set her tea cup on the tray beside her bed, Diluc grabbed his jacket and gloves, heading to the front door to find his keys. He spotted them next to his pair of shoes which he took next, holding himself up on the wall next to him to fit into his shoes without the assistance of his hands.
He quickly checked on the rabid blonde in the other room before leaving. She was wiggling around a little bit around in her bed, but she seemed like she was going to drift into unconsciousness in a few minutes anyways.
He sighed content, and made his way out of the door.
As soon as Klee heard the click of the door and the jingle of Diluc’s keys disappear, she hopped right out of bed, coughing slightly as she landed on the floor. She sneakily went about, searching in her house for her hat and shoes, tip toeing and getting into a funny ninja stance whenever she heard a noise. She thought it would scare away whatever was there.
As she looped around her home, she came across a tiny box with red fabric poking out of it slightly. As she carefully opened it, she realized she had come across her hat! They were hiding it from her in hopes of her not finding it, but it was a horrible hiding spot, who would be this stup-
“I knew you would come here. What are you doing up, young lady?” A stern yet kind voice came from behind Klee, startling her. She would’ve shit her pants if she hadn’t already done her business not too long ago. It was Jean, arms crossed, with one eyebrow raised. “Well?”
“Mommy! Daddy said you were busy and couldn’t come!” Klee shouted as she dropped the box and ran to Jean excitedly to hug her legs.
Jean scoffed. “Well, daddy is a big liar. Don’t trust him, okay?”
“Okay…” Klee said pouting, lowering her head as if she were ashamed of something. Then she turned her attention back to Jean. “Why do you have my hat?”
“You don’t go anywhere without it, we knew you would come back here to try and find it,” Jean replied after a moment of thinking. “And we were correct, and I even caught you, now go back to bed okay?”
Klee stuck her tongue out in mock annoyance and giggled, taking Jean’s hand, leading her back to her room where she climbed right back up to her bed and spoke with Jean (begged her to play with her) like she did with Diluc not even half an hour ago.
But halfway through, she started to feel sleepy and so, like the little brat she is, she fell asleep.
“So I told Lisa, ‘ well that isn’t very app- ”
She heard a snore from beside her.
“Klee?”
Jean looked over at Klee, who was asleep. Jean only smiled softly and got up from her bed. She then bent forward to plant a small kiss on Klee’s head, not noticing the small smile that had formed on her daughter's face before leaving.
