“we are gonna watch a romantic movie!” in loud tones, eijun announced happily, softening the pillows and blankets over the noticeably small-for-three-people-couch.
“it’s sci-fi week, eijun.” satoru answered flatly. he didn’t even bother to take his eyes off his phone’s screen, fingers moving rapidly.
“no, it isn’t. we watched ‘ghost in the shell’ for the tenth time last week.” eijun retorted.
“it’s a classic, what can i do?” the other shrugged nonchalantly.
“whatever, satoru. i’m dying to watch ‘weekend’. and besides, it’s how the saying goes; a romantic movie a… well, a week keeps the sadness away!”
“i’m pretty sure that isn’t how-” haruichi started but ultimately interrupted himself for it wasn’t worth discussing about the authenticity of sayings. he approached the other two, popcorn bowl in hand. “you are both wrong, by the way. it’s horror week.”
as both of his boyfriends turned their shocked and wide-eyed faces his way, haruichi had to hold back an amused chuckle. he placed the bowl down on the coffee table and held a finger up as the other two immediately started to protest, pulling his phone out of his sweatpants’ pocket and opening his calendar app. when he found what he was looking for, haruichi turned the phone to eijun and satoru, proving that, indeed, it was his turn to choose a movie, which entailed a horror one.
eijun palled at the sight of haruichi’s sweetly smug smile, throwing himself back over the couch cushions and groaning dramatically. “oh my god, no! i’m gonna be scared for the rest of the week, have mercy on my poor soul harucchi!”
this time, haruichi giggled freely, heading back towards the tiny kitchen to grab their drinks. satoru seemed to be hogging the blanket all for himself already, equally dreading their movie session, but more silent about it.
it was a part of their friday night routine, watching movies and cuddling on their cramped couch until the credits were rolling and they started kissing each other instead. seeing as each of them had a different taste in movies, they came up with a rotation system that allowed each of them to choose whatever movie or genre they pleased when it was their week to do so. when it was sci-fi or romance week, respectively satoru’s and eijun’s picks, things went pretty much smoothly. haruichi’s turn, though, was always a bit turbulent. for all the suspense, mystery and horror that haruichi enjoyed, his boyfriends were cute, scaredy-cats.
well, that meant even more enthusiastic cuddling for haruichi.
when haruichi returned from the kitchen, eijun had buried his face on a pillow and seemed to still be whining about it. satoru, on the other hand, had disappeared under the blanket, only his feet peeking out from under the soft lilac fabric.
“you guys are such babies.” he said, nudging them both with a foot and urging them to make space for him. “we’ve been doing this for ages, still didn’t get used to it?”
“no.” satoru answered from under the blanket, soft voice almost muffled by it.
“you are so evil, harucchi.” eijun pouted, sitting up and allowing haruichi to sit in between them. swiftly, haruichi pecked eijun’s lips in a subtle apology but, ultimately, didn’t deny the accusation.
he reached for the controller and quickly found the movie he had chosen earlier, playing it before eijun or satoru bolted from the couch. then, haruichi swung his hand back and blindly patted the wall behind the couch until he found the light switch, turning off the light.
eijun whined once more and scooted closer, tucking himself by haruichi’s side. “lights off? that’s even more scary!”
“that’s the thrill of it, eijun-kun.”
“there’s no thrill in these movies.” satoru grumbled. “only stupid jump scares.”
haruichi laughed lightly and patted his thigh reassuringly, tugging the blanket so that he could have some of it as well. he took the popcorn bowl from the table and placed it over his lap so that they all could reach it. finally, eijun fetched a can for himself and grumbled under his breath.
“peach soda? i mean, i like it, but i can’t stay sober for a movie like this.”
“we have practice tomorrow, eijun.” satoru pointed out.
“and besides, i can’t deal with both of you drunk today and tomorrow.” haruichi added, cheeks puffed from the handful of popcorn he had shoved inside his mouth.
“oh, kuramochi-senpai and miyuki-senpai are coming over tomorrow, right?” eijun beamed at that. at least, talking diverted his attention from the movie playing on the screen so he tended to talk as much as he pleased during horror movie nights.
“yeah, and we all know how things tend to go south when you-san and booze are involved.” haruichi said, pointing at one of the cans in a silent request for eijun to pass him one of them. “so peach soda it is. now shhh, let’s watch the movie.”
the other two grumbled at haruichi’s shushing, but settled down as well, now and then grabbing some popcorn and sipping their sweetened drinks. these kind of movies always started slow, at least, which guaranteed a peaceful atmosphere for a brief while.
as the movie progressed and the amount of scary scenes increased, though, eijun and satoru got more scared and jumpy by each minute as well. halfway through the movie, satoru had shoved his face in the juncture where haruichi’s shoulder met his neck, breathing against his skin and refusing to look at all the gore in the screen. haruichi had the fingers of his right hand buried in the silky strands of his black hair, caressing his nape and letting his blunt nails scratch satoru’s scalp.
on haruichi’s left, eijun was hugging his left arm close to his chest, one of his hands clasping haruichi’s and holding it firmly over their thighs. as much eijun hated horror movies, his eyes were glued on the screen since – as he always claimed – just listening to the sounds and not seeing what was going on was even scarier.
popcorn and snacks were completely forgotten in favor of bracing themselves against the movie’s jump scares. haruichi wasn’t complaining; even if he flinched a couple of times, he was much more interested in the way his boyfriends progressively snuggled closer to him, satoru’s breathing against his skin and eijun’s broad chest pressing against his back – result of a feeble attempt at hiding.
when the movie reached its end and haruichi turned the lights on again, the other two breathed a sigh of relief, glad to be done with that week’s torturous movie. eijun let go of haruichi’s arm only to plop himself over the boy’s lap.
“ugh, i’ll never get used to this.” he grumbled, sighing once again when he felt haruichi’s fingers on his hair.
satoru muttered something intelligible, face still immobile, probably an agreement to eijun’s words. he snaked his arms around haruichi’s waist and breathed him in.
haruichi wanted nothing more than to be buried in that mess of warm limbs for the rest of the night but a glance at the clock on the wall informed him that, if they wanted to be fully functional for morning practice tomorrow, it was better to head to bed already. he tugged gently at both of his boyfriends strands and said, “let me take the garbage to the kitchen.”
“don’t leave us.” satoru mumbled, tightening his grip.
“it’ll be just a minute, satoru.” he replied.
“why are you trying to make him stay?” eijun protested, but he wasn’t letting go either. “he put us through all that. damn, i’m traumatized for the rest of my life… i hope you’re aware of that, harucchi!”
haruichi giggled amusedly, finally being able to untangle the heavy bodies from his small frame and get up. in the absence of his body, he watched as eijun and satoru fell over each other, maneuvering their bodies in the pursuit of a good position. quickly enough, haruichi gathered everything over the coffee table and moved to the kitchen, throwing away the garbage and placing the empty bowl on the sink to be washed later.
when he returned, it was to the sight of his boyfriends lying down on the couch, eijun laying above satoru with his cheek pressed against the other’s stomach, his hands buried under satoru’s t-shirt. satoru had his eyes closed, long fingers mindlessly playing with eijun’s hair, their legs tangled together.
haruichi watched for afar as satoru slid his hand down towards eijun’s nape and pulled gently, bringing him closer with a mumbled “come here.”
their mouths met with a familiarity that only time could give, lips molding together as eijun captured satoru’s lower lip and pulled until he let it go with a pop. they continued kissing leisurely like that, meeting halfway and breaking apart only to repeat it all over again. haruichi approached them with an infatued smile, kneeling on the floor by the side of the couch and letting his lips meet the always warm skin of satoru’s neck. slowly, as he kissed the smooth planes of his neck, haruichi made his way up, reaching satoru’s jaw, his cheek, his chin… until he felt eijun’s lips brush against his own. he let his tongue teasingly lick over both of their lips, letting a brief smile creep on his lips when satoru hummed at the wet-like touch.
when eijun turned his head slightly to face him, haruichi took great pleasure at the sight of eijun’s closed eyes, his parted lips seeking haruichi’s unusually without any rush. haruichi held the side of his face to kiss him gently, slowly licking inside and sucking on his lips while his thumb caressed his cheek softly. he could feel eijun’s lashes fluttering slightly at each bold swipe of his tongue and wasn’t that the most precious thing in the world. eijun chased the kiss when haruichi leaned away, but haruichi let him have a taste of scarcity as he turned to satoru. he held satoru still by his neck, little to no pressure from his lean fingers as he moved closer, chastely kissing the edge of his lips before licking over them and kissing satoru senseless as well, even when all of haruichi’s movements carried lethargic tones.
the feeling of eijun capturing an earlobe between his lips and letting his teeth tauntingly graze its flesh brought a quiet whine to the back of haruichi’s throat, who tenderly pressed his lips to satoru’s one again, as to not get too carried away.
they all needed to be up at the crack of dawn, after all.
“am i forgiven for making you watch yet another horror movie?” haruichi asked, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand as he sat over his heels.
“ha, it’ll take much more than a couple of kisses, harucchi.” eijun informed him, apparently very much interested in the way satoru had his hands on his ass already, kneading the flesh. satoru mutely nodded in agreement, dark and half lidded eyes staring at haruichi.
the sigh that ran past haruichi’s lips was clearly performative, as he was just as excited as the other two.
“we have practice tomorrow, y’know.” he pointed out in a last attempt at being sensible. “we should just sleep.”
“as if i could sleep after watching that nightmare of a movie.” eijun grumbled.
who was haruichi trying to fool anyway? that happened every time they watched a horror movie. and because kominato haruichi was a sneaky bastard, he took his sweet time choosing scary as fuck movies (even if he didn’t actually mind what they watched each week) just to have his boyfriends cuddling close to him during the movie session and demanding sex afterwards as a means of redemption.
haruichi snorted at the hilarity of it all and got up from the floor, offering a hand to eijun and pulling him from the couch. satoru got up as well and circled haruichi’s waist from behind, curling his body in order to press himself against haruichi.
just like the friday movie nights, that was also a part of that well-functioning system, one they cherished and were comfortable with. haruichi’s evil logics aside, they all equally enjoyed that part.
as the three of them made their way towards the bedroom, haruichi smirked and said, “ok, let’s get the scary monsters out of your heads.”
