Was It Real?

Summary:

He didn't belong here.

In this world where magic, kingdoms, dragons and all other things that were supposed to be mere fantasy are real. Much like those mangas who's plot line is widely used where the main characters are transported into another world.

He isn't joking.

Work Text:

He didn't belong here.

In this world where magic, kingdoms, dragons and all other things that were supposed to be mere fantasy are real. Much like those mangas who's plot line is widely used where the main characters are transported into another world.

He isn't joking.

Izuku is -or was - an ordinary, broke, medical college student that pulled two all-nighters just for a paper his professor just assigned them with only three days before it's due. Stuck in his dorm room, with energy bars packages, energy drinks and a turned cold -because he didn't drink it immediately- mug of coffee.

That professor really hates his students for him to be that sadistic.

Perhaps this is all a dream. That's what he thought when his memories hit him like a truck at the tender age of 13 after almost drowning at the nearby river and thoroughly processed the memories of his, probably, past life.

A very elaborate dream as to which he can feel pain. Basically remembers everything that has happened, like how he normally does in real life.

Whereas he lived there since he was young with no knowledge it wasn't the world he was supposed to be in.

Although, he gotta be honest it's much much cooler than his past life.

Did he really die?

He doesn't know if he did.

(And if he did die, not to point fingers or anything, but it was definitely the professor's fault, just saying.)

All he knew is that he is alive here. This place is his new home now.

And it is.

He became the apprentice of a world renowned alchemist and swordsman, widely known as All Might or as his close friends like to call him, Toshinori Yagi. Read, studied and experimented with all sorts of herbs and ores at the supervision of his teacher. Until one day, he carried on the torch of his teacher and ventured to the outside world in a quest to defeat the great evil that has taken over the land causing chaos and destruction on the land. Met, fought, ventured new friends. Talked, laughed, cried throughout the quest. Welcomes new ones and says goodbyes to some. Found love in the middle of all the chaos and went through trials together -more on that in a bit.

Until the day when they have finally completed their quest, ridding the world if it's evil and restoring peace across the land.

It may sound like a cliche fantasy story. It is a cliche story, but...

It is what it is.

And honest to the gods above -since in this world they believe in multiple gods- he loved it.

He loved this place.

He loved the people he met. The people who fought with him.

He loved this world and everything in it.

Most especially, in this world he met the man he loves.

Izuku admired the band wrapped around his ring finger. The ring was made out of titanium, mended thinly with the designs of vines wrapping around three rubies, resembling the eyes of his beloved husband.

It's been 15 years since they've married -and they've known each other much longer than that- but still Izuku couldn't help but admire it just as he did the very first time he received it from the one and only Dragon King of the country, Katsuki Bakugou.

Despite the scary -yet awesome- nickname attached to his image, as well as the gruff, almost always angry mood, the blond was a kind man with strong morals and principles. Caring deeply and protective to those around him.

Much more to their very own children.

Their first child was a healthy baby boy, now 15 years of age, the lad had Katsuki's red eyes and blond hair, although his hair was curly just like Izuku's and slightly darker than Katsuki’s. He had a calm yet reckless attitude.

Their second and third child, two years after the birth of the oldest, were twins. Both were girls. One had a shy demeanor like Izuku while the other had a fierce attitude much like Katsuki's. Despite their contrasting attitudes, the twins were very close with each other.

All of their children were able to be conceived through magic. And what a miracle they were in their lives.

Such precious people came into Izuku's life.

"I knew I'd find you here." A gruff voice said from the door.

Izuku was startled out of his thoughts, whipping his head towards the door where the blond stood. The king leaned against the door frame, his arms crossed, looking fondly at the greenette.

His gentle gaze was only reserved for his family, most especially his beloved husband.

"What are you staring off into space for, nerd?" Katsuki asked as he walked towards the greenette and Izuku stands so his husband can sit and him on his lap, slinging an arm over the blond's shoulders, resting his head on Katsuki's due to the small height difference now that he sat on the blond's lap.

"Nothing much, just reminiscing, that's all."

"You sound like an old person." The blond teased, winding his arms around the greenette's waist.

"Hey!" Izuku exclaimed a small half hearted glare and his lips pouting on his face. "That's not nice."

The blond laughed, nuzzling his face on the greenette's neck. "I'm not nice in general."

"You're nice when you want to be."

"Only for you and the kids." Katsuki countered with a moment of hesitation.

Izuku felt his heart race when Katsuki said those words. Not a single day passes by without him falling deeper for the blond despite all the years of their marriage. Same goes for Katsuki as well.

"I know."

They stayed cuddling there some more before heading out to the castle garden, for a short walk, hand in hand. It was one of the few past times they do, together while the blond was on a break from his duties as a king.  Katsuki's breaks are becoming more frequent as he is slowly passing on the torch to their eldest son.

A little early, but Katsuki says it's fine and that the early exposure will help him not feel too much pressure in the future.

The two talked and cuddled on the sofa, before eventually deciding to go on a walk in the castle garden for a small change in scenery. Then as night fell and they had their dinner with their children they turned in for the night, within their chambers and each other's arms.

Izuku yawned as he woke up from his slumber, stretching his arms out. Annoyed by how stiff and cold he feels. Which was weird, that's never happened before, especially when he is in Katsuki's arms.

The greenette finally opened his eyes to look at the face of his, perhaps still sleeping, husband.

But it wasn't what he saw.

It wasn't what he was expecting to see at all.

The greenette felt his heart drop as he looked at his surroundings.

He sat at his desk, his laptop opened but the screen was black and papers and books scattered on his desk -some of the papers were partly covered by his drool. His bed was left the same as how he left it. The clock on his bedside table, saying it was 8:37 in the morning already.

He was back.

He was back to his original world.

What?

What in the actual fuck?

He was back?

How? Why? Why now? What happened? Did he die there too?

Was it even real to begin with?

Was the more than forty years of his life in that other world even real? Was it all a dream?

What about Katsuki? What about their children?

Were they not real too?

Were they all people he just conjured up in his mind due to the excessive stress and sleepless nights and just dreamed a whole life with them?

What in the fuck?

The greenette covered his face with his hands, his head filled with these thoughts and questions that will never be answered even though he so badly wants it to be answered.

Izuku slid his hands down his face with a deep breath in and out, thinking to himself to calm himself down first instead of drowning himself in his thoughts.

He felt something scrape on his face.

The greenette looked curiously at his hands, trying to find the cause. He froze as he saw the golden ring wrapped around his middle finger like it always has.

Then another question popped up in his head.

...

Was it real?
