My Brother's Babysitter

Summary:

Jimin used to sneak out whenever a babysitter came over to watch his little brother. That was until he saw the new person his parents hired, Jimin's current infatuation, Jung Hoseok.

Notes:

Aaaaa this is the first prompt I've ever done, I hope it turned out okay! I've always wanted to write a jihope and this prompt was too cute to pass up! (sorry in advance for any missed grammatical errors)

Prompt:

Hoseok as a babysitter of Jimin's younger sibling, who got hired to watch over the kid, because Jimin's parents don't trust him enough to leave him alone with his sibling for an extended period of time.

I Want: Fluff, happy ending, endgame jihope

Do not want: A/B/O, Genderbend, Hybrids, Mpreg, sub/dom, hard/extreme kinks, degradation, daddy kink, MCD, dubcon/nocon

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Jimin's upstairs in his bedroom, putting an earring hoop through his pierced ear, when he hears the doorbell ring.  It must be the new babysitter for his 11 year old brother, Jihyun.

He wonders who the babysitter is this time.  It's most likely one of the ahjummas that live down the street.  His parents stopped hiring the girls around his age once they expressed interest in Jimin.  Silly parents not realizing Jimin expressed no interest back to the girls.

He actually feels bad for the few ahjummas that they go through weekly.  His brother is a ball of chaos and they can barely keep up.

You're probably wondering why a perfectly healthy 16 year old just can't watch his own brother?  They tried that once before.  It did not go well.

As children, Jihyun would constantly try to follow Jimin everywhere, which annoyed Jimin.  His best friend Taehyung never minded, he just cooed at Jihyun and found him adorable.  Then he got older and the annoyance turned to physical brotherly fighting and teasing.  Enough to where Jimin hated dealing with it.  Nobody touches Jimin's hair.

When Jimin was 13 and his brother was 8, he tried to lose him at a shopping center, but their nanny at the time caught on.  She immediately told Jimin's parents and he was grounded for a week.  That's when Jimin learned how to sneak out of his house thanks to Taehyung for showing him that the tree outside reaches Jimin's second story window.

When Jimin just turned 16, his parents tried to have him babysit during their date night.  It wouldn't be long, just a couple hours.  They came home to a small cut on Jihyun's cheek.  Jimin honestly swears he has no idea how that happened.  He may or may not have been too preoccupied texting someone from his math class and it definitely wasn't about math.  It's not his fault he's cute and he gets texts while Jihyun is a disaster who is constantly getting hurt.

Tonight is just a date night for his parents, so the sitter won't be here for long, so that means Jimin has a small timeframe to get out of the house.  Still worth it though.

Normally his parents hire sitters all the time.  His dad is a traveling businessman who is rarely home on the weekends.  His mother is an on-call gynecologist and sometimes her scheduling clashes with his dad’s.   So they need a babysitter, a lot.  Actually they wouldn't if Jihyun wasn't the worst to take care of. (According to Jimin and only Jimin.  The ahjummas love him despite not being able to keep up with his energy.)

Just as he's trying to find his left boot under his bed he hears his mom talking to the new sitter, "Our oldest son, Jimin, usually stays up in his room either playing video games or doing homework.  I doubt you'll see him at all while we're gone."

"Ah okay, got it," says the sitter, whose voice does not sound like an older woman.  It sounds male, young, and vaguely familiar.  They've never hired a young guy before, so he's not sure where he's heard this voice.

Jimin's considering going downstairs to see who it is, but he's already dressed for sneaking out and his parents would definitely know.  He shrugs, maybe some other time if this guy can put up with his brother.

10 minutes after his parents leave, Jimin has successfully made it down the tree next to his window to go meet up with Taehyung and his boyfriend.

While hanging out with his friends, it started raining outside, so Jimin had to make the choice to get back home earlier than planned.  If he times it well enough, he can sneak through the back door while the sitter is in Jihyun’s room getting him ready for the night because Jihyun is on a tight sleep schedule.  It usually takes the ahjummas a half hour to calm Jihyun down before getting him in bed, so he has a wide window.  There’s just no way Jimin can risk climbing the tree to his window in the rain.

He reaches the back door and checks the time.  He still has about 13 minutes to spare to run up to his room before being spotted.  He takes out the spare key his parents think is missing and unlocks the backdoor.  He quietly takes off his soaked boots and heads towards the stairs as quietly as he can.

He makes it to the living room when he sees him.

Fuck.

The babysitter is Jung Hoseok.  No wonder why his voice is familiar.  He’s a year older than Jimin, but Jimin has known who he is since the day he walked past the school's gym and saw this guy dancing.  It also doesn’t help that Jimin also finds him really hot.

Hoseok doesn’t look surprised to see Jimin in the least bit.

Jimin tries to smile as cute as he can, “Jung Hoseok-ssi, what are you doing down here?”

Hoseok rolls his eyes, “Your brother is in bed, so I’m now just waiting for your parents to get home.”  He looks Jimin up and down, “And where were you Mr. Park?”

“Library?”

“In that outfit without a bookbag at 930pm?”

“Yes?”

“I know who you are, Park Jimin.  You’re best friends with Kim Taehyung who is dating one of my best friends.”  Hoseok opens his phone then shows Jimin Yoongi’s instagram story where Jimin’s clearly sitting on a couch with his new friends Seokjin and Namjoon laughing about something.

“Oh.  About that…”  Jimin’s shoulders slump, “Please don’t tell my parents.”

Hoseok crosses his arms, “And why shouldn’t I?”

Jimin sheepishly smiles, “Because it’s nice?  And if Yoongi-hyung is your friend, why are you babysitting instead of going out with him on a weekend?”

Hoseok sighs and then rolls his eyes, “Because, Jimin-ssi, some kids like to have extra money, so I babysit.”

Jimin thinks of the only thing that can convince Hoseok to not tattle on him, “You know, if you tell my parents, I can just convince Jihyun to say he didn’t like you and you’d be out of a job?”

The look on Hoseok’s face sours, “Are you really blackmailing me for something I wasn’t even going to do?”

Oh.

Jimin feels bad now.

“Oh, I mean, I wouldn’t do that.”

“Yeah, Jimin-ssi.”  Hoseok looks out of the window, and there are lights pulling into the driveway, “It looks like your parents are home, you should probably head upstairs.”

Jimin nods and heads to his room, “Night Hoseok-ssi.”

Hoseok ends up becoming a regular sitter for Jihyun.  Jimin doesn’t go out the next couple of times Hoseok is over.  Jimin instead stays in his room, trying to ignore Taehyung’s texts on going out with Yoongi's friends.  Just something about Jimin’s encounter with Hoseok got to him.

He tries to eat dinner before Hoseok comes over to babysit, so he doesn’t have to run into him and Jihyun hanging out.  But tonight he is famished.

He tries to sneak downstairs quietly, but he pauses to see the cutest heart shaped grin he has ever seen in his entire life.  Jimin is used to Hoseok’s intense stares as he dances, but holy moly, his smile lights up a room.

Hoseok is playing a video game with Jihyun, and Jimin doesn’t realize he’s been staring for the past few minutes until he feels a pillow thrown at his face.

“JIHYUN WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT FOR?!”

Jihyun shrugs, “You were staring at Hoseok-hyung weird.”

“Fuck off, no I wasn’t!”

“I’m telling eomma you swore at me twice tonight!”

Jimin leaps over the couch onto the floor where his brother is, and wrestles him to the ground, getting Jihyun's head into a headlock.  He completely forgets there is another person in the room when his bare foot hits someone’s face that isn’t Jihyun.

Fuck.

“OMG HOSEOK-SSI I'M SO SORRY!”  Jimin sits up immediately, runs over to Hoseok, and ignores Jihyun yelling about how he’s going to tell their parents on Jimin.  “Hoseok-ssi are you okay!?  Do you need anything?”

Hoseok is holding his face, Jimin can see a little bit of blood, “Ice works.”

Jimin stands up and holds out his hand for Hoseok to grab on to, which he does, and brings him to their kitchen.  He tells him to sit down as he grabs an ice pack out of the freezer.  He grabs a small towel to wrap it in, and a napkin for the blood.

“Is...is it broken?” Jimin asks as he hands over the napkin.

Hoseok is leaning his head back, “I don’t think so.”  He dabs the napkin, luckily it’s only a little blood, and then he lets Jimin hold the ice pack wrapped in the towel to his face.

“I’m really really really sorry, Hoseok-ssi.”

He’s within breathing distance of Hoseok now.  He notices the older look at his face, and then down to what he is wearing.  Jimin suddenly feels shy.  Normally he likes to be dressed up when he encounters the object of his affections.  Tonight he’s just in a black fitted t-shirt and basketball shorts.  His orange dyed hair is a fluffy mess, still slightly damp from his shower.  His face is completely clear of eyeliner and tinted lip balm.  The only normal thing about him is the small silver hoops he has in his ears.

“It’s fine, Jimin.”

They’re staring at each other, Jimin still holding the ice pack to Hoseok’s face, but the silence is interrupted by Jimin’s brother.

“Is Hoseok-hyung okay?”

Hoseok stands up, causing Jimin’s arm to drop with the ice pack, “I’m fine Jihyunnie!  Let’s go watch that movie before you have to sleep.”

Jimin feels a bit awkward just standing there because he’s never with the both of them the nights their parents aren’t home.  Should he just go back up to his room and act like nothing happened?  He's not hungry anymore.  He also doesn’t really trust Jihyun, or what if Hoseok says something to his parents?  Like, that he kicked Hoseok in the face after fighting with his brother.  Jimin can just see the words “no cellphone for a week” hovering over his head.

Hoseok nudges Jimin on the arm, snapping him out of his horrible vision, “Jimin, do you want to join us?”

“Oh… sure.”

Jihyun and Hoseok sit on the couch as Jimin takes one of the recliners as they choose a movie.  Jihyun falls asleep 10 minutes in, so Hoseok quickly escorts him to his room.  He comes back down to continue the movie with Jimin.  They sit in silence until Jimin’s parents arrive.  There’s no talk of the accident, but his parents are shocked to see him downstairs.

“Jimin-ah, you’re not holed up in your room for once?”

Before Jimin can say anything, Hoseok answers, “Oh, Jimin and I are actually schoolmates, different years, but we do know each other!  I asked if he wanted to join us in watching a movie.  Get him out of his room.”

Why is Hoseok so nice?  And how is his smile the best thing Jimin has ever seen. He used to just think he was hot and maybe he’d go after him in that sense….but Jimin in no way thinks he deserves Hoseok in any way if he’s that nice after getting his face kicked.

“Yeah, uh that’s right.  We go to the same school.”

“Oh that’s so nice,” his mom says warmly, like she's happy they’ll become friends.

His parents then tell him good night and pay Hoseok as they walk into the kitchen, leaving the two teens alone.

Jimin sighs, “Why did you say that to them?  Not tell them I hurt you? Jihyun?”

“It’s the truth?  It’s not like you kicked me on purpose. I’m not gonna tattle, I'm not 12.  And with Jihyun, as much as you fight, that’s just a brother thing.  I fight with my sister like that all the time.”

“Oh, well um, thanks."

Hoseok just nods with a small smile that exposes two little dimples by his mouth.

"Um, have a good night, Hoseok-ssi.”

Hoseok rolls his eyes, “Hyung is fine.”

Jimin feels his cheeks warm as a slight smile appears, “Oh okay.  Good night hyung.”

Hoseok opens the door and looks back at Jimin, “Good night, Park Jimin.”

Slowly, within the next couple of weeks, Jimin stopped sneaking out and stayed in with Jihyun and Hoseok.  Even one night Taehyung slept over while Hoseok was there.  Consistently teasing Jimin.

“I can see why little Jiminie stopped hanging out with us”, Taehyung whispers.

“Oh shush.  I just figured I needed to stop my rebellious lifestyle.  I’m 16 after all.”

“Only because there’s a cute boy in your house about twice a week.”

Hoseok’s walking back to the living room once he put Jihyun to sleep, “What are you two whispering about?”

“Taehyungie’s just gushing about Yoongi again.  The normal.”

Taehyung shoves Jimin, “Was not!”

Hoseok laughs, “No I believe it because last time I was with Yoongi, he kept going on and on about Taehyung.  I can’t believe he fell for someone younger than him.”

Taehyung’s face turns bright red, but a sudden evil grin appears, “Hoseok-hyung, are you seeing anyone?”

Hoseok, not realizing Taehyung’s intent, “Nope.  Too busy with babysitting, dance, and school.”

“Aww, poor Jiminie is single, too.”

Jimin puts a hand over his friend's mouth, “Taehyung!”

Hoseok cocks an eyebrow, “Oh really?”

Jimin shrugs, “Yeah, so?  Is that surprising?--OW!"  He immediately moves his hand from Taehyung's mouth.

Hoseok nods, “I see the way girls look and talk to you.”

Taehyung bursts out laughing, and Jimin joins in, “Oh hyung, girls are not the ones I’m interested in.”

Hoseok’s eyebrows shoot up behind his bangs.  Taehyung shakes his head, “You really think this tiny boy here, with orange hair, who spends at least a whole hour to get ready, including make-up, is straight?”

Hoseok shrugs, “Men should be able to be comfortable with anything they wear no matter their sexuality?”

Jimin swoons even harder for the boy.

He feels himself blushing at the response, and Hoseok suddenly turns away and goes back to finding something to watch on tv.

The rest of the night goes well.  Hoseok even smiles at Jimin when he says goodbye once he’s relieved of babysitting duties.

Jimin sighs once he gets into his bed.  Taehyung scoots in after him and wraps himself around Jimin, “You like him so much!”

“Ugh he’s so cute, Tae!  You see his smile?  It looks like a heart!  And he’s such a good dancer!  He’s so nice to me, too!  Even after I kicked him in the face!”

“You kicked him in the face?!”

“All Jihyuns fault!”

Taehyung laughs, “I can’t believe you have a crush on your babysitter.  That’s such a cliche.”

Jimin gasps, “He’s not my babysitter!  He’s Jihyun’s!”

But wait, he’s only been hanging out with Jimin because he’s here to babysit.  Yeah Hoseok’s best friends with Taehyung’s boyfriend, but Jimin and Hoseok are not exactly friends.  It’s not like Hoseok would go out of his way to hang out with Jimin alone.

Fuck.

“Tae….he only talks to me because of Jihyun, doesn’t he?  I mean he's only here because he's getting paid to be.”

Taehyung shrugs, “I don’t really know him much!  He’s always too busy to join me and Yoongi-hyung.”

Jimin leans closer to Taehyung, “This sucks.”

“Maybe you just gotta show interest?  I think he likes boys from what I gathered from Yoongi-hyung.  I can always ask to make sure?”

“If it’s not too imposing.  I would like to know before I do anything,” Jimin giggles at the thought of making a move on a very confused Hoseok.

“I believe in you Jiminie.  You're my tiny confident ball of fire.  Go get your man.”

During the week, Jimin is informed that Hoseok does indeed like boys.  Yoongi told Taehyung, “Do you think I'd surround myself with straight men?”  Taehyung had no clue what that meant, but that’s what he told Jimin his boyfriend said.

So Jimin had a plan.  Sort of.  He was going to be the confident person Taehyung believed he could be.  The only problem is he has no clue how to be that around Hoseok.  Hoseok brings out another side of Jimin nobody ever sees, his awkward side.

Jimin, Hoseok, and Jihyun are playing Dance Dance Revolution one evening.  Jimin keeps failing because he can’t stop laughing at Hoseok’s silly dance moves he adds while also flawlessly completing every song.

Jimin at first wanted to show Hoseok he can be a good dancer, and that he’s really good at the game.  Instead he keeps throwing himself on to the couch every time he starts laughing.

Jihyun is too invested in his handheld video game to play anymore, so it’s just Jimin and Hoseok for the next hour.  Hoseok’s laughing, too, which makes Jimin’s failed flirting still fun.

Then when they’re done, Jimin tries to pull his, Push-hair-out-of-face move that he does when flirting.  Except, he looks over to Hoseok who just did the same thing so effortlessly that Jimin can tell he wasn’t even trying to look hot on purpose.

Here’s Jimin, who made sure he looked cute today, and trying to pull his moves, but then you have Hoseok looking effortlessly beautiful, wearing what he always wears.  Not even trying yet somehow it’s working.  Jimin slumps.

Jihyun kicks him from the other end of the couch, “Are you pouting because you’re a bad dancer and lost?”

Jimin’s about to snap back until Hoseok speaks up, “Jihyunnie, that’s not nice.  Jimin’s really good at the game.”

Jimin’s eyes widen, “You really think so, hyung?!  Because like you’re amazing, and I’ve seen you dance at school too and I’m not part of a team like you and….” He trails off realizing how uncool he sounds.

Hoseok only laughs, but turns to Jihyun, who is just squinting at them and then goes back to his game, “Yeah whatever.”

His brother eventually goes to bed, and Jimin’s gotten used to spending the rest of the evenings alone with Hoseok.  Tonight he feels different.  He wants to ask if Hoseok considers them friends now, but he feels extremely shy.  Very unlike himself.

Jimin’s parents eventually get home easing Jimin from his weird vibe.  Even though his parents go on date nights when they can, they inform the boys that they want to do a weekend getaway for their anniversary coming up.  They wanted to know if Hoseok is fine staying the weekend since Jihyun has taken a liking to him, but if he has plans for next weekend, Jimin and his brother can go to their grandparents.

Oh god please no , Jimin thinks.  He looks at Hoseok with pleading eyes.

“We’ll of course pay you for your time, plus some.  If that’s alright, Hoseok-ssi?” his father asks.

Hoseok smiles, “You’re in luck!  My morning dance practice is canceled next week, so I should be good to stay!  I’ll just have to let my parents know.”

Jimin’s mom smiles, “Oh good!  If you can come an hour early, so I can show you everything for Jihyun?”

Hoseok nods, and then gathers more information for next weekend from Jimin's parents.

Jimin is screaming internally, JUNG HOSEOK IS SLEEPING AT MY HOUSE FOR TWO NIGHTS AAAAAAAA.

Jimin excuses himself for bed, needing to call Taehyung and scream in the privacy of his room.

“That’s when you should make your move!”

“Taehyungahhhh no.  I already failed today.  I was already so awkward.”

“Well Jiminie, stop trying so hard, and just be yourself!  That’s how I got a boyfriend.”

Jimin sighs, he guesses he can try that.

Flash forward to Friday afternoon.  Hoseok came over only an hour after Jimin got home from school.  He’s talking to Jimin’s parents about tonight’s dinner, which will just be take out they ordered ahead of time.  His mother left extra food that only needs to be reheated and pizza money for the rest of the weekend.

Jimin’s sitting on the couch when he hears, “Oh you can just sleep in Jimin’s room.  He has a huge bed.  Taehyungie sleeps in it anytime he’s over.  You and Jimin are friends, right?  Our couch is awfully uncomfortable for sleeping on.”

Jimin freezes and holds his breath, waiting for Hoseok’s answer.

“Y-yeah, that’s fine by me.”

Jimin lets out his breath, but now he just remembered what a disaster his room is.  He bolts up stairs and tries to tidy everything.

If this goes wrong, I can just pick the lock for eomma and appa’s room and sleep in there, he thinks.  Jimin’s parents lock their room up when they’re gone because his father has important things in there, but also because one time they came home to Jimin and Taehyung trying out drag in his mother's clothes at the age of 13.  How his parents still think he likes girls is beyond him.

He hears footsteps getting close to his room as he shoves the last sock underneath his bed.  It’ll do.

The door opens to his mother and Hoseok.  He notices Hoseok looking around, realizing he’s never been in here before.  There’s not much to look at that’s not normal for a teen boy.

“Hoseok-ssi, you can just put your bag in here.  I’m going to go talk to Jihyun.  Jimin can show you his room, and bathroom.”

Jimin spins around, “This is my room.  I have my own bathroom, which is that door with the Naruto poster, don’t judge.”

Hoseok lightly laughs, he glances at the bed, “And it’s fine I sleep in here?”

Jimin shrugs, “The couch sucks and my parents room is off limits.  I can always sleep on the floor if it’s a problem.”

“Oh okay.”

They stare at each other silently for a few seconds until they’re interrupted by the most annoying sound to Jimin’s ears.

“HOSEOK-HYUNG!”

They turn to the little boy standing in the doorway, “Yeah Jihyunnie?”

“I got that new game I was telling you about last week!”  Jihyun looks around Jimin’s room, “Oh wow Jimin-hyung actually cleaned his room?!  He’s so messy, hyung.  If it’s too smelly in here, you can sleep in my room!”

“GET OUT OF MY ROOM YOU BRAT!”

Jihyun runs out yelling, “EOMMAAAA HYUNG YELLED AT ME!”

Jimin sighs as he and Hoseok walk back downstairs to say goodbye to their parents.

“Hoseok-ssi, if you have any problems with the stuff in the kitchen, you can ask Jimin, he should know.  If not, you can always call us.  Just because we’re away doesn’t mean you can’t send us a message if you have any questions!”

Hoseok smiles at Jimin’s parents, “Oh I should be fine!  Jihyunnie is fun to take care of and Jimin is helpful enough!”

Jimin’s mom raises her eyebrows, but doesn’t question anything and says goodbye.

"Jimin-ah, you be good to your brother, and help Hoseok-ssi okay?"

"Yeaaaahhhh I promise. Bye, love you guys."

An hour after the parents leave, their food is delivered for the evening.  Jimin sits on the couch as he eats his noodles and watches Jihyun show Hoseok his new game for a while.

He needs to figure out his plan to woo Hoseok without Jihyun detecting anything weird because he will definitely call out Jimin for being weird.

Taehyung's advice was for Jimin to be himself, which should be easy!  But Hoseok makes him really nervous, which is so unlike him.  A compliment should be the way to go.  Nothing too weird to throw off Jihyun.  Maybe throw in a nickname to show he's casual...yeah.

"Hey Hobi-hyung!"

Hoseok turns around facing Jimin with a huge smile, "Yeah?"

Jimin swoons and feels his brain melting, "You…..your hair…..it's brown."

Hoseok lightly laughs,"Thank you for your observation?"

Jihyun pauses his game and turns to Jimin, "Hyung, why are you being weird?"

Fuck.

"AM NOT!"

“Yuhuh!  You just told hyung his hair is brown for no reason.”

Jimin sighs, “It’s a nice brown.  That’s why.”  He turns to Hoseok, “You have nice hair and it compliments your face nicely.”

There’s a hint of pink to Hoseok’s cheeks, “Thank you, Jimin.  You have nice hair, too. I like the orange.”

Jimin subconsciously smooths his hand through his hair as he smiles back at Hoseok.  Jimin feels his heart pound a little harder as they stare at each other.  He wonders what the other is thinking, but the silent moment is ruined by Jimin’s little brother as usual.

“Ew, you guys are gross.  Jimin-hyung’s hair looks like a moldy pumpkin.”

“Shut up, brat.  Isn’t it almost your bedtime anyways?”

As Jihyun starts to protest he yawns at the same time.  Hoseok gets up from his spot on the floor, nudging the youngest, “He’s right, Jihyunnie.  I let you stay up past your normal weekend time anyways.”

As Hoseok brings Jihyun upstairs, Jimin tries to go over his next plan.  Watching a movie has been their go-to, so Jimin has to choose the best movie.  They watch enough comedies, and he’s not in the mood for action.  He’s not even sure if Hoseok likes romance.  There’s always horror.  Horror would give him an excuse to hold onto Hoseok if it gets scary.  Yeah….that can work.

He sets up whatever horror movie has the highest ratings on Netflix and waits for Hoseok.  He tries to make the other side of the couch look inviting, so Hoseok sits next to him.  He grabs some chips and a drink to snack on as he waits.

“Hey sorry, I went to change so I can get comfortable.”

Jimin looks over to the stairs and freezes as he sees Hoseok traded his baggy t-shirt and baggy pants, to a more fitted t-shirt and shorts that stop above his knees.  Jimin has to look away before he says anything inappropriate about the amount of leg is showing.  He’s trying to woo the man, not seduce.  He's only 16 and has no idea how to even go about doing that.

Jimin’s couch plan works as Hoseok sits on the other side, but closer to the middle than Jimin expected which makes this even better.

“I..is this what we’re watching tonight?”  Hoseok’s eyes are wide and looking at the television.

“Uh yeah?  I was in the mood for something scary, is that fine?”

“Y-yeah.  N-no problem.  All good and dandy.”

Hoseok seems a bit off, but Jimin tries to not overthink it.  He’s still getting to know the guy no matter how huge his crush is.  And yes, he’s finally admitted that his crush on Hoseok is obnoxiously huge.

It takes the movie 20 minutes to start getting scary, and before Jimin can use the jump scare as an excuse to hold on to Hoseok’s hand, he has a full grown hyung hiding in his lap.

Jimin’s only reaction is to start laughing, “Hobi-hyung, do you not like scary movies?”

“I-I’m fine.”

Jimin stops the movie, and pats the head in his lap, “Hyung, you’re literally facing the opposite way of the tv wrapped around me.  Why did you say this was fine?”

Hoseok sits up, pouting, “I’m your hyung.  Didn’t….. want you to think I was a baby.”

Jimin coos, “Aw you’re the cutest!”  The compliment coming out of him so naturally.

Hoseok looks fake disgusted, unable to hide his blush, “Aish!  Don’t say such nonsense!”

Jimin giggles as they stare at each other.  Now would be the perfect time to kiss him if Jimin was aiming for seducing, but no, like he said, he’s focusing on wooing, as much as he’d love to make out with the guy.

He clears his throat, “Want to just watch a comedy?”

Hoseok sits back on the couch properly, but this time with their thighs touching, “Please!”

They end up watching a funny movie sitting next to each other the entire time.  Jimin can’t even focus on the movie because Hoseok throws himself just as much as Jimin does when he laughs.  They could be laughing into a cuddle pile if Jimin was aiming for that, but he doesn’t know Hoseok’s intentions.

Should he make a move?  No… not the time.  Does Hoseok even like him?  Even as a friend?  Fuck.  He doesn’t even know that.

The movie ends and Hoseok interrupts Jimin’s thoughts by standing and stretching, “I think I’m ready to sleep? Can you show me where to plug my phone in?”

Jimin zones back in, oh shit, right, Hoseok is sleeping in his room… in his bed .  Great. Nice. Cool.

“Uh yeah, let’s go to my room.”

Jimin decides tonight he’ll skip his long skincare routine, so he doesn’t come off as high maintenance—that’s something you find out later when you date Jimin.  He shows Hoseok everything in the bathroom and where to charge his phone.

He stares at his full-sized bed, hoping Hoseok doesn’t move a lot.  Taehyung is the only one that sleeps over and he’s a cuddler.  Oh god, is Jimin a cuddler without Taehyung?  Fuck, he never thought about that.  Why did his mom offer this?!  He should’ve just came out to his parents, so then he wouldn’t be tortured with the hot boy he has a huge crush on laying in his bed.

“Which side do you sleep on?”

Jimin stares at Hoseok, “Usually when Tae is here, we just kinda blob together.  When it’s just me, I’m in the middle.”

“Ah, well, I don’t know how to blob.”

Jimin laughs, “I can take the side next to the wall.”  That way Jimin has something to hold on to as he tries to sleep as far as he can away from Hoseok.

“Works for me.”

They’re settled in bed and the lights are off.  The only thing illuminating the room is the streetlight across the street from Jimin’s window.  He forgot to shut the curtains, but at least this gives him some light to see Hoseok’s pretty face.

“Hey hyung, are you sleeping?”

“Mm?”

“I have a question.”

Hoseok turns his head towards Jimin.  There’s enough space between them to not touch, but he does pull on the blanket a bit, “Yeah?”

“Would you consider us friends?”

There’s a moment of silence before an answer, “Oh...yeah, I’d say so.”

“Would you ever hang out with me if you weren’t being paid to babysit my brother?”

“Yeah, of course, we have mutual friends. It’s bound to happen.”

Not satisfying Jimin enough with the answer, “No, I mean, alone.  Just me and you.  Would you consider us friendly enough to hang out just as us two?”

“Oh.”

Still not the answer Jimin wants, but he guesses that’s enough, “I get it. I’m a bit much.  I’m not exactly the best—“

There’s a hand on his shoulder stopping him from talking, “No no no no, Jimin-ah, I didn’t mean it like that.”

Now it’s his turn, “Oh?”

“I just wasn’t expecting that.  I really didn’t think you wanted to hang out just us?”

So he’s definitely oblivious to Jimin’s crush.  Maybe Jimin can confess now, but fuck, it would be weird if Hoseok only saw him as a friend and they’re currently lying in Jimin’s bed.  Super awkward situation to be in.

Jimin laughs, “Of course, hyung!  You’re so cool and I admire you a lot.  Before we really met, I admired your dancing, but now I’m glad to befriend you.”

Jimin ends it with a big smile, hoping Hoseok can see it in the dark.  Jimin’s lucky he can still see up close without his contacts or glasses because if not, he’d miss the heart shaped smile Hoseok is directing at him.

Hoseok turns away, still smiling, “Go to sleep.  I heard your brother is a morning person.”

Jimin groans, “This is what I mean why we gotta hang out with only us.  No dumb brothers waking us up at 8am.”

Hoseok sighs, “You know he really looks up to you?”

Jimin scoffs, “That’s such a lie.  He’s 75% why I’m always grounded.”

Hoseok laughs, “Maybe, but he’s just looking out for you when he tattles.”

Jimin rolls his eyes, “I guess... I don’t know.”  He curls up even more into the blankets and presses closer to the wall, “Good night, Hobi-hyung.”

“Good night Jiminie~”

The next morning Jimin wakes up with Hoseok's hand on his face.  He tries to slowly move his hand off, without waking Hoseok since he's unsure what time it is.  He's gently setting Hoseok's hand down when the door of his room is bursting open and Jihyun is launching himself on top of the boys.

"HYUNGS, CAN WE GO TO THE PARK?!"

Hoseok sits up and Jimin has to stop himself from cooing at his bedhead.  Hoseok stares at Jihyun then glances down to…. their hands.  Oh.  Jimin is currently holding Hoseok's hand.  He must've grabbed it when Jihyun scared him.

Jihyun notices too, "Why are you guys holding hands?"

Hoseok perks an eyebrow, so Jimin lets go of his hold.

"Uh...hyung's hand was by me and I was moving it before you jumped on us."

It's the actual truth but neither of them look like they believe him.  Jimin falls back and pulls the blankets back over his head groaning about it being too early.

Hoseok and Jihyun get up to go eat some breakfast seeing as it's 8am, and Jihyun is promised they can go to the park at 10am.

By the time the two are heading out, Jimin gets himself out of bed and chooses to stay in.  Last time he was at the park with his brother he got rocks in his cute boots courtesy of said brother.  No thank you.

Jimin just sits on his phone and flips through the television and waits for Hoseok and Jihyun to return for lunch.

The two get back from the park a little after noon and they all eat.  Afterwards, Jihyun gets invested in his handheld game, so Hoseok and Jimin are just sitting there doing nothing.

"Hey Jiminie?"

Jimin's weak and blushes immediately when he hears Hoseok call him cutely, "Huh?"

"Wanna learn one of my dance routines?"

"Right now?"

Hoseok shrugs, "Yeah we're not doing anything?"

Jihyun scoffs, "Jimin-hyung can't dance.  You've seen him with DDR."

Hoseok laughs, "He's pretty good at DDR and real dancing. I've seen him goofing around with Taehyung and Jungkook at school recently."

Jimin blushes again.  He's always kept the dancing a secret since it's nothing serious.  He didn't think his parents would support it even if it's the one thing besides clothes that he's interested in.  But if his crush is willing to teach him AND compliment him, he might as well try.

"Fuck off, Jihyun."  Jimin stands up, "Let's do this hyung!"

They arrange the living room by pushing the furniture to the side to make space, and Hoseok hooks up his phone to the sound system.  Jihyun perches himself on one the couches pushed to the side, still with his game in his hand.

Hoseok teaches Jimin proper stretching for dance, and is impressed with how flexible Jimin is.  After a bit, they’re finally warmed up, and Hoseok is ready to show him the dance.

“Hyung, be easy on me.  I've seen how intimidating you look when you practice.”

Hoseok laughs, “I can’t promise anything.”

And like that, the boy who has been occupying Jimin’s thoughts as of recently is dancing in front of him.  No longer from a distance across the school gym, or just by glance as he walks past a classroom.

Hoseok ends the quick routine which has Jimin and Jihyun clapping and cheering.

“Wow Hoseok-hyung, you’re really good at dancing that isn't DDR,” says Jihyun.

“I told you!  He’s amazing.”

Hoseok’s smiling, “Oh shhshhh, it’s not that hard.  I chose a simple one.”

Jimin gets up to stand next to him, “Then let's begin!”

For the next couple hours, with small water breaks—courtesy of water boy Jihyun—they dance.  Hoseok even shows Jimin the hip hop freestyle he’s into.  Jimin is entranced.

He and Hoseok twirl around pretending to be ballerinos at one point, which causes Jimin to laugh really hard when Hoseok trips after doing a dramatic twirl.  Jimin embarrassingly snorts as he laughs, and feels absolutely mortified when Hoseok looks over at him.

“Pretend you didn’t hear that.”

Hoseok is smiling widely, cheeks puffing up, “No, it’s really cute that you snort when you laugh!”

Jimin looks away smiling and tries to go back to learning the original routine.  He notices his brother staring at them with a questionable look on his face, but doesn’t make a comment pointing out Jimin’s weird behavior for once.

They continue dancing and end up goofing off more than actually practicing, but in the end Jimin gets the dance down.

Hoseok runs over congratulating him with a hug, “YOU DID IT!”

Jimin freezes when Hoseok makes contact, and tries to contain his excitement, “I just had an amazing teacher!”

Hoseok lets go of Jimin, but doesn’t leave his side, “You should think about joining my summer dance group.”

“Really?!”

“Yeah I think you’re good enough,” Hoseok turns to Jimin’s brother, “Right Jihyunnie?”

Jihyun nods, looking amazed, “Yeah, Jimin-hyung, you’re actually good!  You should ask our parents to let you join!”

“Wow that might’ve been the first nice thing I’ve ever heard you say to me.”

After they push the furniture back, Jimin decides to go shower as Hoseok orders their pizza.  Then once he’s out he shows Hoseok how to use the shower for his turn.

It’s just Jimin and Jihyun in the living room as they wait for the pizza delivery. It might be the first time since Jihyun was an infant that they're by themselves and not fighting.

Jimin goes back to texting Taehyung about today, and Taehyung makes some crude comment about Hoseok using Jimin’s shower.

“Why are you and Taehyung-hyung talking about Hoseok-hyung naked in the shower?”

Jimin jumps as he feels Jihyun leaning over his shoulder and quickly closes his phone, “Fuck off.”

“What about me in the shower,” asks Hoseok, walking down the stairs.

“Uh…” DING !  Jimin is saved by the doorbell. “I’LL GRAB IT!”

They sit around the tv and eat their late dinner.  After they’re done, Jihyun has time left for one more episode of his cartoon before he has to go to bed.

After the youngest goes to sleep, it’s just the two teenagers.  On the same couch.  Sitting very closely.  Watching some random thing that was left on the television.  Jimin can’t concentrate because he feels Hoseok move closer to him.  Jimin turns to the boy next to him, and maybe this is a sign to confess…

“Jimin..”

“Yeah?”

“Y-you did really good earlier.”

Jimin turns away, shyly smiling, “I’m not as great as you, hyung.”

He feels a delicate hand on his cheek, turning his face, “No, really.  You have a lot of potential.”

Jimin feels his chest pounding because Hoseok hasn’t moved his hand from Jimin’s face and their mouths are within whispering distance.  He focuses on the freckle above Hoseok's top lip.  Jimin can’t think of the right words to say, so he acts on impulse and leans forward to press his lips against Hoseok’s.  There’s a pause, but then he feels a pressure being pushed back to his lips.

Hoseok leans back after a few chaste seconds, “I...I’ve been wanting to figure out how to do that all day.  Well more so after our talk when you asked if I considered us friends.”

Jimin freezes, “What?!  Do...do you like me more than a friend, hyung?”

Hoseok laughs, “Yeah.”

Jimin launches forward to plant another kiss on Hoseok.  This one is a lot sillier as Hoseok starts laughing under the kiss.  Jimin leans back, himself joining in the laughter.

“I’m taking this as you like me, too?”

“Yeah!  I always thought you were hot, but then I got to know you and the infatuation grew to an actual crush.”

Hoseok looks away, face bright red, “Ahh stop it .”

Jimin giggles and leans into Hoseok, finding something for them to watch until they go to sleep.  They end up cuddling on the couch until Jimin starts to doze off, and he feels Hoseok nudging him.

When Hoseok is in the bathroom, washing up, Jimin texts Taehyung to inform him briefly of what happened tonight.  Only to get the response, “ Now u got him in ur bed ;)

Jimin mumbles, “Perv,” as he types that out to his friend.

He didn’t notice the bathroom door opening, “Who’s a perv?”

Jimin shuts his phone and throws it onto his dresser, “Taehyungie.”

Hoseok doesn’t question any further and just laughs, “Then he’s the perfect fit for Yoongi-hyung.”

Jimin scoots to his far side of the bed, but not hugging the wall this time.  Hoseok comes in right after him.  Jimin can sense Hoseok doesn’t know what to do after everything has been aired out earlier, so he holds the boy’s hand and whispers, “Night Hobi-hyung.”

“Night Jiminie~”

He wakes up the next morning sharing the same pillow as Hoseok.  He takes the opportunity to stare at the boy next to him, wondering what’s next.  He hears the front door opening and Jihyun yelling down the hall, “EOMMA AND APPA ARE HOMEE!”

Hoseok stirs awake, but then looks at Jimin and smiles.  Jimin giggles, “My parents are home.”

Hoseok laughs, “I can hear that.”

Jimin leans over and kisses Hoseok’s cheek and gets himself out of bed to change.

About 10 minutes later, Jimin, Hoseok, Jihyun, and their parents are all sitting in the kitchen as the 3 boys eat cereal before Hoseok leaves to go home.

Jimin's parents tell them about the trip and the great food they had.  Jihyun is actually the one that brought up Jimin dancing, even praising his brother’s talent.  Shockingly, his mother agrees that Jimin can join Hoseok’s class next semester as long as his grades are good enough.

Saying good-bye to Hoseok is a little awkward because Jimin wants to kiss him, but everyone else is by the front door.  Luckily, he was able to after they brushed their teeth earlier.

Once again, a rare moment where it’s just Jimin and Jihyun as their parents go unpack.

“Thanks for convincing eomma and appa for letting me join a dance class.”

Jihyun nods, and then pauses his game.  He turns to Jimin, “Do you like Hoseok-hyung?”

“Uh… yeah, he's my friend.”

Jihyun rolls his eyes, so dramatic for an 11 year old, “No, I mean, do you like him?  I saw you two on the couch last night cuddling when I had to use the bathroom.”

Jimin’s surprised to hear this coming from his little brother, not realizing Jihyun even understood the concept of liking someone more than a friend, let alone the same gender.  Jihyun looks serious, so Jimin decides maybe it’s time he treats his brother older than a toddler.

He smiles gently, “Yeah, yeah I do, and….” He giggles because he still can’t believe it, “He likes me too.”

“Okay, just let him know I’ll kick him in the stomach if he hurts you,” then Jihyun goes back to his game.  Jimin ruffles his brother’s head and goes back into his room, smiling to himself.

Jimin had just finished applying his lip balm when he hears the doorbell.  He grabs his boots and runs downstairs to answer, but his mother is already at the door.

“Oh Hoseok-ah, we don’t need you until tomorrow?”

Hoseok scratches his head and adjusts his hat, “Oh, uh, I’m here for Jiminie.”

Jimin rushes over and slips his boots on, “Eomma, I told you I was going to the movies with a friend!”

“Oh, I thought you meant with Taehyungie,” his mother pauses, “Why do you look so dressed up?  Is that my eyeshadow?”

Jimin rushes over and grabs Hoseok’s arm, “We’re gonna be late!  Bye Eomma! Love you~!”

When they’re a block away from his house, Jimin feels a hand intertwining with his and a kiss on the cheek from his boyfriend.
