Work Text:
It’s not that Izuku wasn’t aware that he liked boys as well as girls. After all, Uraraka was adorable and Todoroki was just too pretty not to like. His crushes, though light and fleeting, simply solidified his thoughts on his fluctuating sexuality. However this new character in his life brought something to life in him that the other two never even got close to. He didn’t think that he had a type and yet here he was.
“So this is Class 1-A? I heard you guys were impressive, but you just sound like an ass.” said a smooth, stern voice.
Wow, that’s a hot voice. Izuku shook his head as a tall purple haired teen came into view, standing firmly in front of Bakugou. He felt something stir in his belly as he took in the other teen. He looked, for lack of a better term, exhausted. The bags under his eyes were worrying and despite his height he seemed almost lanky. Still, he held himself tall against that natural force that is Kacchan’s anger and seemed unfazed by the bravado.
Fuck, that is unnecessarily sexy. For the first time Izuku was grateful that his blazer was a bit large on him so he could hide his growing erection. God, being fifteen sucked so much. Bet All Might doesn’t get random erections.
Their interaction was brief, mostly because everyone was exasperated by Bakugou’s attitude and in a hurry to leave before other students decided to publicly declare their hatred of their class. Izuku, on the other hand, wanted to know more about the mysterious teen.
A little recon wouldn’t hurt? He might have to face him in the sports festival, so it’s better to be prepared. Iida and Uraraka would understand.
“This is an absolute waste of time, we should be honing our skills for the festival not searching for a student. Who, might I remind you, does not like us.” Iida reprimanded in a low whisper from their hiding place.
The three friends were currently doing their best to hide behind a trash can, awaiting the end of one of 1-C’s classes that were held during their lunch break.
“Come on Iida! Deku is in love, we gotta help him.” Uraraka spoke up from behind him, her voice bubbling over with amusement.
“Uraraka! I’m not in love! I’m just curious about the competition.” He tried explaining, but the blush on his cheeks wasn’t helping his case.
“Right, competition. Of course. Well, fun fact you might be interested in, but usually the tall and lanky ones have really big dic-” Iida quickly covered his friend’s mouth while Deku wished the ground would open up and swallow him whole.
“Uraraka, that is highly inappropriate!”
“It’s not like that!” This only served to make their floaty friend laugh, delight ringing in her voice. In the midst of her teasing class 1-C let out. Uraraka spotted the purple boy heading towards them and decided to greet him.
“Alrighty, mission ‘get Deku a boyfriend’ is a go.”
“Wait Uraraka!” Izuku pleaded, but the girl had already left, one goal in her mind.
They watched as she approached the student, a bounce in her step. Iida pat Izuku on the back as he mumbled anxiously to himself. He seemed a bit weary at first, but somehow Uraraka managed to make the other smile.
Izuku watched safely from behind the trash can, but Uraraka must have told the other boy that he was there because suddenly he locked eyes with him. Izuku yelped and flunk himself backwards into Iida. The smaller boy briefly wondered if he could fit inside the trash can. After a while Uraraka bounced back over a smile plastered on her face.
“So, I know the name of your dream boy!” She announced cheerfully.
“He’s not my dream boy!” He whined, head in his hands. Seriously, was it possible to give yourself heatstroke from embarrassment?
“Uraraka, please if you tease him anymore he’ll combust and Recovery Girl is on the other side of campus.” Iida was his favorite, he decided. He was going to get them best friends forever T-shirts and Uraraka would get nothing.
“Oh alright. Sorry, Deku.” Izuku didn’t think she sounded that apologetic, but as long as she stopped then perhaps he could forgive her. She still wasn’t getting a shirt though.
“Anyway, his name is Shinsou Hitoshi. Apparently he’s very adamant about getting into the hero course.” Wow, even his name was sexy. Izuku slammed his head into the side of the trash can. Neither of his friends blinked.
“Did you find out anything about their quirk?” Iida asked, adjusting his glasses. Uraraka shook her head.
“No, no quirk info. But I did get his twitter handle.” Izuku paused his self flagellation and looked at his friend, eyes shining with a familiar wetness.
“I love you.” He whimpered. She’s definitely getting a bestie shirt.
“Naturally, now both of you owe me lunch. And I am feeling expensive.” She said, reaching out both hands to help the boys rise from behind the trash can as they laughed at her enthusiasm.
Later that night Izuku was scrolling through twitter, when he decided to check out the purple menace that would soon be the star of many future (wet) dreams. He found him with relative ease.
Hitoshi is suffering was the display name and Izuku couldn’t help the giggle that escaped him when he saw his profile picture. A cute calico cat with a blushing filter. A little look couldn't hurt, right?
A few minutes turned into an hour into two and wow there were so many cat pics on his page. Izuku found him funny as well, a nice assortment of memes and deadpan humor had him giggling well into the early morning.
“Sure, let’s hold a festival after a bunch of our students almost got their shit rocked by some d-list villains. Nothing suspicious there. Just gotta go Plus Ultra. ”
Izuku let out a giggle snort and before he could stop himself he had liked and retweeted his tweet. Well, it couldn’t be that bad right? He seemed pretty popular, a few liked posts from a new account wouldn’t be too weird. Besides, he was on his heroes appreciation page. A few likes, retweets and a follow wouldn’t be suspicious. Shrugging Izuku continued scrolling through his page before sleep took him.
When he woke in the morning he had two notifications, one being Hitoshi is suffering followed you.
He shot out of bed and felt his heart race as he saw that someone had also DM’d him. He took a deep breathe before opening Hitoshi is suffering’s message.
“Heroes Appreciation page? I’m not even in the hero course, so who are you? ”
Izuku cursed himself. He should know better than to trust his two in the morning judgement calls.
“Well, you seem to really want to be a hero, so I wanted to keep an eye out for when you get into the course. Plus I really like your cats. ”
“It was mostly the cats, wasn’t it?”
“What! No, no really! You’re really funny and I saw a lot of your posts, you really know your hero stuff! I don’t know why you aren’t in the hero course. It’s a shame really, I think you’d be amazing in it.”
“Do you go to UA? You seem to know a lot about the requirements.”
“Maybe.”
Shit. Izuku said too much, now he couldn’t pretend not to know who he was. Sometimes his inability to keep his word vomit to himself really bit him in the ass.
“Maybe? That’s not weird at all. Especially since you admitted to stalking my entire page.”
“Okay, yes I’m a UA student, but I just found your page by accident and you seemed to really know your stuff and you were funny, and you had so many cute cat pics I had to follow.”
“Sooooo it was the cats?”
“NO IT WASN'T I PROMISE!”
“Okay, okay, don’t have a meltdown.”
“No promises.”
“You really think I could be a hero?”
Izuku blinked at the message. Did he? He didn’t even know what his quirk was. Plus the first in real life meeting he had with the guy he seemed like a closed off jerk, albeit a really hot looking jerk but still. However looking at what the other boy wrote and his brief interaction with him, Izuku couldn’t help but feel certain. With a soft smile, he typed his answer.
“Yes, I really do think you can be a hero. In fact, I can’t wait for it. ”
“Well, um, thanks, I guess. ”
“You’re welcome. Now, about those cats. ”
“Haha, okay see I knew the cats were the selling point. They aren’t actually mine, my mom’s apartment complex doesn’t allow pets. However I do live near a cat cafe and I visit almost everyday when I get a chance. ”
“You’re so lucky!!!! I live too far away from a cat cafe!!! ”
“Sucks to suck. ”
“No! Don’t be mean, I’m emotional right now. ”
“Boo hoo, you’ll just have to live vicariously through me and my beautiful cat pics. ”
“I can accept that. Anything for a chance to see a cute kitty. ”
The conversation stalled for a bit as Izuku told the other he had to greet his mother before work and get ready for class. It wasn’t until he was sitting at his desk did his phone vibrate. He pulled it out and immediately went into the chat with his new friend.
“Hey, what can I call you? You have a name or are you officially mr/mrs. heroes’ appreciation page? Or should I call you mr. trash man? ”
Izuku groaned. Of course he’d put it together, new follower after a weird encounter with him flinging himself behind a trash can. Very discreet, truly you are the definition of stealth.
“I was hoping you wouldn’t put those pieces together.”
“It’s not everyday I have a stalker. Now, are you the tall one with glasses? Or are you the one who yelped like a chihuahua?”
“I AM NOT A STALKER!”
“Sounds like something a stalker would say.”
“Oh my god.”
“So? Are you glasses or greenie?”
Izuku sighed. It was either now or never, and he didn’t seem to be mad about his apparent stalker tendencies. Besides, maybe he could play around too.
“I’m greenie. My name is Midoriya Izuku. It’s a pleasure to meet you, mr. future hero.”
“Mr. future hero? I like that. Your friend already told you my name, I assume?”
“NO! Well, yes actually, but you should still introduce yourself.”
“Why? I quite like mr. future hero. Has a ring to it.”
“THAT’S NOT THE SAME!!”
“Fine, fine. Well, Midoriya, my name is Shinsou Hitoshi and the pleasure is all mine.”
Izuku couldn’t help the blush that engulfed his face at that. An image of the purple teen saying that with his deep voice and a smug look popped up in his head. I’m doomed, was his only thought as he groaned and sunk into his seat.
In another classroom a few doors down, sat another teen staring fondly at his phone. Midoriya Izuku, huh? Shinsou bit his thumb as he reread the other boy’s message. Cute name for a cute guy. He blinked when he realized what he had just thought and quickly put his phone away, a small blush dusting his cheeks. Still, he thought with a smile, it’s nice having someone believe in him.
