"Please...", you gasped out. You had no idea who you were talking to, and had many doubts anyone was even listening, yet you continued to speak, "I need someone, anyone, to need me. I want to feel wanted instead of feeling broken and isolated." you felt another sob rip through your chest and tried to muffle your cries, even though you doubted anyone could hear you over the noise of the city. "I'm begging and pleading, please. I just want to be needed."
You're not sure how much longer you were out there. Time didn't seem to exist, nor matter anymore. You stayed until your nose and fingertips were numb from the cold, and cried until your nose and throat were sore. Cried until the heavy weight that had seemed to suffocate you, started to ease.
You climbed into bed that night, cold and tired and numb, willing your thoughts and feelings away and prayed for the world of your dreams, where you were no longer so alone.
