Welcome to the world, little one

Summary:

It was a normal afternoon, Saiki and his pregnant wife, Teruhashi, were buying some stuff for the house, but suddenly Teruhashi felt a little discomfort and now the floor was wet?
This story is centered on the birth of their first child and how they handle the whole procedure together.

Notes:

Hey! Once again, I present myself with a Terusai story, this time they're adults and they're expecting a child. How cute, but also, how scary. Pregnancy is really hard, not that I would know, but researching about it made me feel even more respect than I already felt for mothers in the world and women in general. I hope you like the chapter, enjoyyy!

Work Text:

Saiki and Teruhashi lived a happy life. After they started dating at the end of school, their relationship hardly got any trouble. Obviously, they had some arguments now and then, but in the end, they always resolved things peacefully.

A year into their relationship Saiki told Teruhashi about his powers, she was a little shocked but not that much. She told him that since they were a couple and got closer, she figured out he had some kind of intuitive power? Or something of the sort, and his confession only confirmed her suspicion.

He explained everything to her, though, the fact that he had been reading her mind from the beginning of their friendship clearly made her feel embarrassed and conflicted. She trusted him, but still felt as if her privacy was interrupted without her knowing.

She also knew it wasn’t his fault so she didn’t blame him, in the end, the fact that he decided to tell her really warmed her heart. They spent some days talking about the topic but after everything was cleared up, she felt excited. Her boyfriend had superpowers. That was cool.

The fact that she knew about his powers made him feel more relaxed around her, he didn’t like to spy on her thoughts without her knowing and usually tried to use a germanium ring around her. However, because he had lived with his superpowers all his life without a restriction, it was really really hard for him, and that also made him feel a little angry at himself.

The day he told her about his powers was also the day he gave her a germanium ring as a gift. He explained the properties of the ring and gave it to her to use it if she wanted to.

At the beginning they both agreed that she would use the ring so they could both date and have some privacy. However, it didn’t last long, sometimes when they had an argument, she didn’t wear the ring, it was easier for them to communicate that way. She used the ring but it didn’t happen every day, and they were both okay with that.

Four years later from the day he gave her the ring, they got married. From that point onward, she changed her surname to Saiki Kokomi and not Teruhashi Kokomi.

The pregnancy happened two years after they got married, they both were 24 years old and had stable jobs. Saiki took the news very well, but he was a very protective soon-to-be father.

No, really.

Too protective sometimes.

Kokomi loved him and she found it cute, at the beginning.

She had mood swings and having him continuously worry about her to the point that didn’t even let her make dinner because “pointy things near the baby are not allowed” was too much. They had a normal pregnancy, they were expecting a girl and they were very excited.

She was in her last month and the baby was due in two weeks, this afternoon they were grocery shopping when they suddenly saw a couple that was buying vegetables near them. The couple were their longtime friends Yumehara and Kaido. Apparently, the couple also realized the Saiki’s were here.

“Oh God, look at how big you are! You’re beautiful!”-Yumehara went to hug her longtime friend. She had seen Kokomi before but because she was a little busy with her job lately, she didn’t have time to actually see her in person.

The blue haired pregnant woman reciprocated the hug and closed her eyes, she really had missed her friend.

Kaidou greeted Saiki at the same time, he had actually seen the couple some days ago. Saiki and Kokomi’s friends came whenever it was possible and the baby news made them feel excited, they were finally going to be uncles and aunts. Out of the seven days of the week, four of them were taken by one or two members of the group. Kokomi didn’t really mind, she knew they did that because they were excited, Saiki on the other hand found it a little too overwhelming sometimes but endured it, his wife looked happy, hence the baby was happy too.

“What are you doing here? Baby shopping?”-Yumehara asked.

“No, we are just shopping for some gro-“-the soon to be mother stopped talking.

That sent an alert to Saiki.

He quickly supported her as she was standing. “Are you okay?” She had a frown on her face.

“Yes, I just felt a little pang.”-she actually felt the same half an hour ago but thought it was because she was hungry. They had eaten since then so, why did it came back?

“A pang? Maybe we should go to the doctor.”-Saiki was worried, well, he was always worried but it was better to be extra careful.

“No, it’s okay, hun, don’t worry.”-it wasn’t a kick from their baby, it felt different. But it didn’t last very long, in fact, it was starting to go away.

Maybe the food she ate before was in bad state.

He put his hand at the small of her back. “Don’t push yourself too far, I can come back alone to buy what we need, okay?”

Kaidou and Yumehara smiled at the sight, that baby was going to be very lucky. Maybe they could try having one soon.

“Yes, let’s continue, we’re almost finished, what about you guys?”-Teruhashi asked their friends as she put a hand over her baby bum.

“We just came here because Kaidou forgot to buy carrots for our dinner.”-Yumehara stated as she looked at her husband a little annoyed.

“Heh, yeah.”-Kaidou didn’t look at her and just laughed it off.

“Even though you just had to buy that…”

“I got distracted, babe”

“Yeah, the comics you came home with already told me that.”-she smiled at him and closed her eyes a little. She wasn’t mad, though, she knew him for years so she was already used to him.

“They were in discount, you didn’t expect me to NOT buy it, right?”

“But you had one job, besides it’s not the first time you forget to buy the food we-”

Suddenly something wet fell at their feet.

“Kokomi?”-Yumehara asked her dear friend, however, the one who wet the floor was as shocked as her friends.

She peed herself?

But she didn’t wanna go pee before, so why?

Unless.

Her husband was a little faster than her as he took her by the hand and told her they had to go to the hospital.

It was complete chaos. Kaidou and Yumehara both panicked and started saying things about breathing techniques and being calm in hard times.

They were a great example of that, obviously.

Kokomi was very confused and scared. The only one calm at the moment was Saiki.

Well, not calm calm but as calm as he could be. Teruhashi noticed his hands were shaking a little.

Saiki and Teruhashi went inside their car and their friends followed them, Yumehara was holding Teruhashi’s hand as they were sitting in the backseat.

“Are you in pain now?”- Kaidou asked looking back from the passenger seat.

“My back hurts a little and the random pang or pressure I felt before is coming back. Maybe I’m going into labor?”-thinking about it made her feel more stressed and scared.

“Don’t worry, Saiki is driving as fast as-“

“We’re here.”

Wait. But we just left, how did we-?

Yumehara and Kaidou both looked at each other confused.

The psychic pulled over and quickly helped his wife get outside the car. The other couple followed them inside the hospital, they could ask about Saiki’s super-fast driving skills later.

“Hi, my wife’s water just broke and she’s in pain.”-Saiki said this as fast as he could to the nurse.

“Yes, what´s her complete name?”

“Saiki Kokomi”

They put her in a wheel chair and directed her inside the hospital.

Kaidou and Yumehara couldn’t go with them, the nurses didn’t let them but they understood, besides Saiki was with her.

Saiki was holding his wife’s hand as she was put in a separate bed and the nurse asked her to remove her leggings she had on. Saiki helped her with that and their usual doctor appeared next to them.

“Hey, I didn’t expect to see you so soon, you broke your water?”-Kokomi’s doctor was a friend of her family and she really trusted her. Saiki also knew she was a good professional so he relaxed a little when she came.

The nurse gave the doctor Kokomi’s file. “Yeah, we didn’t expect it either. Now we can’t go back to our usual grocery store.”

Saiki knew his wife got embarrassed easily so he supposed she was talking seriously.

Yare yare.

It wasn’t their fault though, but right now that was beside the point.

“Ah yes, you were due in two weeks, it seems your little one can’t wait to come out huh.”-the doctor put some gloves on and moved to see Kokomi better.

She checked and confirmed it.

Kokomi was 3 cm. dilated.

“You’re 3 cm. dilated, congratulations, can you tell me the symptoms you’ve had prior to coming here?”

Kokomi explained everything she felt before to which the doctor started to write in her file.

“The good news is that your baby is in the way, but the bad news is that you need to be more dilated in order to start the procedure.”

“How much time will it take?”-this time Saiki was the one who asked.

“It depends, since she’s a primiparous mother, it will take longer for her to dilate. It could be eight hours or eighteen, there’s no way to know for sure, but as time will pass by, her contractions will be more painful so she has to be prepared for that.”-the doctor stood up.

“You have handled the pain very well until now, yes? Give it your all, I’ll come back to check on you.”-with that the doctor went to talk with a nurse.

“Hey, are you okay? Does it hurt much?”-she wasn’t wearing the germanium ring so he could talk to her through telepathy, however, he decided not to. There were too many people there.

Teruhashi smiled at her husband and took his hand. “It’s okay, I can endure the pain, she’s finally coming to us. How exciting!”

Saiki really hoped she could maintain that energy through the whole process. He knew going into labor was a very hard thing to do and he had nothing but respect to his wife.

A true warrior.

“Where are the guys though, they weren’t with us when we came here?”

Crap. He forgot about them.

“Yeah, I will go down to talk to them and also call your family and mine.”-Saiki gave her a peck on the lips.

“I’ll come back as soon as I can.”-his wife nodded and he went downstairs.

“How did it go? Is she okay?”-Yumehara was worried to the bones and Kaido too.

“Yes, we’ll have to stay here for a long time, though, they don’t know how long it will take for her to be ready to start the baby delivery.”

Kaidou had a troubled expression on his face. “But, how do they know when she is ready?”

Saiki and Yumehara looked at each other.

Well.

They weren’t going to explain it to him NOW. At least not Saiki, he had to go to be with his wife.

“Why don’t you leave that to the experts?”-Yumehara took Kaido’s hand and looked at Saiki.

“Saiki, do you want us to bring your baby stuff? The bag you had prepared for the day and maybe something else?”

Now, Saiki could teleport into their house and take the stuff they needed but doing that would mean he would take longer to go to Kokomi’s side and he already had to call their parents.

He took the offer.

“Yes, that would be very helpful. Thank you.”-Saiki took his keys and gave it to his friends.

“Don’t worry about it.”

He called both families and sent a text in the group chat the gang (as they decided to call it) had together announcing they were in the hospital waiting.

When he went back to Kokomi she was calm and collected, she explained to him she didn’t feel exactly pain but tension and she was already getting used to it. Saiki offered his hand to her so she could squeeze it when she was in pain. She reassured him he didn’t need to do that but he insisted.

Now, seven hours after, his hand was suffering because of it.

At the beginning it was fine, their friends bought them the stuff they needed and Kokomi was distracted, however, now she was 6 cm. dilated, the contractions lasted longer and were more and more painful.

“Just breathe.”-Saiki was directing her as better as he could but he knew it was going to hurt no matter what he did.

“I’m trying! It hurts.”

“Okay, I know, it will pass soon, you can do it.”

She hadn’t gotten an epidural because she wanted to have a natural labor without analgesics and she was enduring it pretty well.

However.

He couldn’t ask her to be in a good mood if she had to endure this pain for hours and, even more, if she didn’t take any analgesics, could he?

“After all of this, I’m going to sleep ten hours straight.”-he could see she was starting to sweat and get tired.

“Yes ma’am.”

One hour passed and the doctor told them she was already at 7 cm.

The baby delivery could start one hour from now, presumably.

“Oh F*ck”

Saiki could swear on his life he had never heard her swear (at least not out loud). She wasn’t used to it and even though she sometimes said it in her mind, she didn’t actually say it to other people or in public.

“Breath.”-Saiki reminded her.

“I’m trying but it hurts too much! This baby is trying to rip me open!”

Saiki was in a little dilema, if he talked, she would probably get angry at him but if he didn’t, she wouldn’t feel his support.

Well, his wife was suffering a lot already, he couldn’t really ask anything of her.

She already gave him all he needed every day of his life.

“I know, you’re doing amazing, you ARE amazing. Just a little more.”

Kokomi’s expression relaxed a little at his words.

I love you, sorry for yelling at you, hun.

Saiki heard her thoughts directed at him.

“I love you too, don’t worry, I’m staying right beside you.”

It was time.

Finally, it was time.

Saiki didn’t know how Kokomi had the strength to go on. The contractions just got worse and now she was evidently in a lot of pain.

She didn’t faint once and Saiki was inside the room when the doctor started the baby delivery.

She took Saiki’s (very red) hand in her hand and started to try to breath at a steadier pace.

“Kokomi, all you have to do now is push, however, you will do it when you feel like it. When your body feels it’s right to push, do it and stop when I tell you.”

Kokomi just nodded with her head.

This was it.

She felt a contraction, closed her eyes tightly and, finally pushed.

As the procedure went by, Saiki encouraged her through it. She was swearing and screaming but she was doing an excellent job. He was very worried because it seemed like she was going to pass out at any second but she continued pushing and breathing.

“Kokomi, this is it, she’s almost out, just one last push, give it all the strength you have left. Come on.”

She screamed and pushed as hard as she could.

Suddenly the room went silent, just to be interrupted with the cry of their newborn.

The baby was red and tiny, Saiki swore he saw the most perfect thing on earth in that baby.

Their baby.

He loved her since the moment they knew they were going to be parents and now he could finally see her.

The nurses were cleaning the baby, Saiki gave his wife a kiss on the top of her head.

They gave them their baby and Kokomi held her, she started to cry and Saiki too, his family was all he could have ever asked for.

He loved them so much.

“Do you want to hold her?”-his wife asked him.

He nodded at her, took his daughter in his arms and smiled.

“Welcome to the world, little one.”
