Chapter 1: Taken

Chapter Text

Todoroki reached his hand out and tried to grab the marble that held one of his classmates. As he closed his hand he was shocked to feel the cool marble against his skin, he did it! Before he could retreat someone had grabbed his wrist, he looked up to see the scarred man grinning back at him.

“Not so fast... Shouto Todoroki.”

Something about the way the villain said his name stirred something in Todoroki that had long been buried. He was familiar in a way Todoroki couldn’t figure out. The grip on his wrist was gentle despite the situation, it pulled him forward into the villains chest as he stepped back through the portal. The soft grass beneath his shoes was replaced with a sturdy floor and the smell of burning trees was replaced with the smell of liquor.

As Todoroki tried to regain his bearings his tight grip on the marble was forgotten and the marble was slipped out by the man who chest he was leaning on while two of the villains grabbed Todoroki’s arms and dragged him to a chair which straps and a metal box in front of it. He was too shocked to struggle, which is probably for the best since he was greatly outnumbered and his only hope for backup was still trapped in a marble.

After todoroki was strapped to the chair and his hands locked in the box there was another chair brought over and the marble was opened to reveal a barely conscious Bakugou. As the villains began to strap Bakugou into his chair the villain covered with hands began speaking.

“Looks like we grabbed the right target after all. And an extra one too, the son of the number two hero this should be good.” He turned and pointed to another door, “Magne, Twice put the brats in the other room for a moment so we can debrief on how the mission went” he waved at them dismissively and sat at the bar.

They were dragged through the door and into a supply closet, Bakugou drowsily muttering threats and insults and kicking out every so often. The villains left and locked the door, leaving them in silence.

“We are so screwed” todoroki muttered

“Wow icy hot that’s some colourful language coming from you, besides I think we can take them” replied Bakugou, more awake then before.

“Bakugou I appreciate you attempt at reassuring me but now is not the time to go in guns blazing” he said.

“Well if you’ve got any bright ideas you wanna share with the rest of the class I’m all ears.” Bakugou said, less defensive than usual, he was letting his guard down a little.

“I-... I think we should get the villain with the scars alone... to talk to him” Todoroki supplied.

Bakugou turned to him and gave a confused expression.

“Why scar face? And why would he help us?”

Todoroki looked down for a moment, contemplating his next words carefully. The reality of the situation was delicate and even though Bakugou was a hero in training and an ally this was not a matter of heroes vs villains. He looked up finally and looked Bakugou in the eyes.

“Bakugou, I need to be able to trust you with what I’m going to tell you. I don’t know if I’m going to tell the heroes when we get back, and I’m asking you to let me choose if they ever find out. Can I have your word that you’ll leave that decision to me?” He waited for Bakugou’s response unable to read what Bakugo was thinking.

Bakugou thought back to the conversation he overheard at the sports festival between Deku and Todoroki. It made sense that Todoroki might lack trust in heroes after the way his dad treated him and his mom. And Todoroki was a very logical person if he felt the need to withhold information it was probably for a good reason, right?

Bakugou took a deep breath and met Todoroki’s gaze. “Ok. I trust your judgment, you have my word. So what dirt do you have in this guy that’s gonna get us out of here?” He asked.

“He’s my brother.”
