fire

Summary:

It is strange to leave the comfort zone, and to understand that the zone wasn't even comfortable is scary.

Fortunately, Bakugou isn't afraid.

Work Text:

Bakugou isn't used to physical manifestations of love - hugs, holding hands, kissing - it's not about him.

Kaminari though is completely opposite. He always hugs Kirishima, throws his legs over Sero and hold hands with Mina.

People say opposites attract.

For the first time Bakugou thinks about it when Kaminari grabs his hand during recess, using Katsuki as a human shield against angry Ashido. Bakugou quickly shakes off the his hands and leaves the classroom.

For the first time, emptiness and coldness become unfamiliar.

When they all ride the subway together a little later, Kaminari sits next to him. Sero, standing over him, is actively telling something, and Denki leans back in the seat, accidentally touching Bakugou with his shoulder. It's fleeting, literally second contact. But Bakugou seems to burn.

Every accidental touch is a small fire inside Bakugou.

He is warm, he is hot, it burns him. It's not the fire that Bakugou has learned to control all his life. This fire makes the heart jump involuntarily. Katsuki sincerely doesn't understand what is happening to him.

Every Tuesday they occupy a common living room, including different films. Kaminari sits next to Bakugou again, not too close, not encroaching on his space.

At some point, he changes the position of his hand, accidentally touching Bakugou with his fingers. Denki pulls his hand away too quickly.

Katsuki sits quietly for the first time and doesn't react. Kirishima sitting on the floor with Mina and loudly commenting on the movie, while Sero ran away to the kitchen at some point too long ago to get some popcorn.

Bakugou holds his breath and gently moves his hand closer to Kaminary. It's just millimeters.

Katsuki ignores Denki's surprised gaze, focusing as much as possible on the screen. Bakugou has to restrain himself not to twitch when Kaminari gently touches his little finger with his own.

Bakugou doesn't make the first movements. It burns him. But he allows.

Denki turns to the screen, but Bakugou still feels a sidelong glance. And then he feels Kaminari's hand slowly moving even closer, covering his fingers with his palm.

Bakugo doesn't understand. Bakugo isn't hurt anymore.

But it burns all inside him.

One small movement of the hand - its turn with the palm up - becomes the point of no return. Bakugou for the first time allows, for the first time silently offers himself. Kaminari places his hand in Katsuki's, slowly intertwining their fingers, one by one. Bakugou grips even tighter.

Bakugou wasn't used to public displays of love - he rarely hugged people, only held his mother's hand in childhood and never kissed.

It is strange to leave the comfort zone, and to understand that the zone wasn't even comfortable is scary. Fortunately, Bakugou isn't afraid.

Fortunately, Kaminari is a great teacher. Slowly, carefully, gently - there is no other way with Bakugou, otherwise Denki will break him, because Katsuki is much more fragile than he tries to appear on the outside.

But one day Bakugou will open his arms for the first time.

One day, Bakugo will subdue this fire.
