Work Text:

Bruno had planned to wake before Leone's morning run, but his love had snuck out of bed and out of his arms. Bruno was going to surprise Leone with breakfast in bed, but now it would be to be a post-run breakfast.

It was Valentine's Day and Bruno had requested the day off months ago, but he never told Leone. He wanted to surprise him.

Bruno was in and out of the shower quickly and headed downstairs. He prepared bread dough last night so he could make fresh crescent rolls. As soon as they were in the oven, Bruno tossed some prosciutto in a pan on the stove. Leone liked meat with his breakfast. To finish it off, Bruno heated water for coffee.

It was early, but he called to make sure his food delivery was still going to show up on time. He'd ordered a special lunch for their date from Libeccio, picking Leone's favorite dishes. Bruno was going to lavish him with food.

Bruno heard the door open and close. He peeked through the door of the kitchen. There in all his sweaty glory, was Leone. His hair was pulled back and had his tight running gear on. It didn't leave much to the imagination and Bruno loved every bit of it.

Leone was panting heavily and headed straight upstairs. Bruno was a bit surprised he couldn't smell the food cooking. Usually, he had a good nose for that. He watched Leone disappear and ran back to the oven. The timer beeped just in time. Bruno slid on the oven mitts and pulled out the golden-brown rolls.

Bruno's mouth watered at the sight.

He grabbed the butter and spread it over the rolls. While they cooled, he grabbed a tray and set everything on it. He snagged the peach jam from the refrigerator and a small thing of milk for Leone's coffee. He took the small sugar container for his. He put two crescent rolls and a piece of prosciutto on a plate and made it into a smiley face.

With everything set, he scooped up the tray and ran upstairs. Bruno heard Narancia playing music in his room, but he seemed to be the only other one awake in the house.

In his and Leone's room, only the shower could be heard. Bruno made quick work of making their bed and setting the tray on top. He stripped off the clothes he'd cooked in and put on the outfit he'd set aside for today.

The last thing he did was pull out the gift he'd wrapped. He was excited for Leone to open it. He also liked the sparkly purple wrapping paper that he found for it.

The shower turned off and Bruno crawled onto the bed, setting the present next to the food. Leone walked out of the bathroom, whistling some song. His hair was still dripping down his toned back and his towel was wrapped dangerously low. Bruno waited for him to turn and see—but Leone went straight to the walk-in closet. He didn't even notice Bruno.

Bruno stared blankly after him. He hadn't even noticed the smell of food.

The whistling stopped and Leone peeked out of the closet.

"Buongiorno," he said nonchalantly. He sniffed the air. "Did you make breakfast?"

"Yes I did, would you care to join me?"

"Yeah—let me put on some pants."

Bruno would have preferred if Leone stayed in what he was—his boxers. "I'd put on something warm."

"Why?"

Bruno bit his lip to try and suppress his smile more. "Oh, for reasons." Bruno had on a new long-sleeved shirt with his signature design on it.

There was a sigh and then Leone came dressed in all black. His familiar belt buckle twinkling in the light. "This good?"

Bruno smiled and nodded.

"So, what's with the food and wardrobe?"

"Do you know what today is?"

Leone suddenly looked panicked. "Um…it's not our anniversary and I know it's not your birthday—wait is it? No, no it's not. It's not mine. I'm sorry, caro, I don't know."

Bruno smiled, delighted by Leone trying so hard. "It's Valentine's Day, amore mio."

"Oh," Leone sighed in relief. "I'm really glad it wasn't your birthday."

With a chuckle, Bruno asked, "Do you think I would make breakfast for my own birthday?"

Leone crawled on the bed and kissed Bruno. "I think you'd try, but I wouldn't let you."

Bruno ran his hands down Leone's arms. "Oh, you think you could stop me?"

"Yes, I know a very good method to keep you in bed while the others cook for you."

"Oh, I look forward to that…" Bruno leaned in for a kiss but stopped when Leone's stomach growled. "We should eat before anything else."

"Did you make this all this morning?"

Bruno handed him the plate with smiling prosciutto. "Yes, while you were on your run."

Leone took the plate with a chuckle. "It smells divine. Thank you." He popped off the lid of the peach jam and dipped the roll directly into the jar. He shoved the whole thing in his mouth.

"Leone."

"Wha—?" he tried to speak around the bread.

"You spread the jam on the roll and eat it in many bites, not one," he chided.

Leone shrugged and continued to eat. "What's this?" he asked once he'd swallowed. He held the purple box in his hands.

"It's a gift for you if you'll be my valentine?"

"Was it ever a question that I wasn't? Okay," he said at Bruno's pout. "Yes, I will be your valentine."

"Open it," Bruno excitedly said. He'd spent a long time putting this together with Trish's help.

Leone tore into the box, obviously excited to receive a gift from Bruno. He pulled out a dark purple scarf. 'Leone Abbacchio' was sewn into it in gold, with the 'A' matching his favorite belt. The outer edges were trimmed with a simple zipper pattern.

"I know your other one was ruined during a mission recently, so I ordered you another one."

Leone smiled at the scarf. "Who knew a sharp stand would shred a scarf? Thank you, Bruno. I really like this…and the personal touches of your insignia."

Bruno smirked. "I won't allow you to forget about me while you're out."

"I could never forget you."

"I sure hope not," Bruno teased.

"I um—I don't have anything for you," he said sheepishly.

Bruno waved his hand. "I surprised you with this, I wasn't expecting anything but you."

"I can fulfill that expectation." Leone tossed the scarf around Bruno and pulled him in for another kiss.

Bruno's hands were on Leone's face in an instant, running along his jaw. His lips tasted like butter and peaches and it made him ravenous, but it was still too early for that. Bruno still had many plans for the day, that could come later.

"Let's finish breakfast, I have other things planned for today." Bruno gave Leone's lips a gentle nip.

Leone groaned. "Are you sure I can't finish you, then breakfast?"

"That's for later," Bruno chuckled lightly.

"I should have known you'd choose to spend the day on a boat," Leone teased with his arms wrapped around Bruno who was steering the boat.

It was a small fishing boat, but it was one of Bruno's favorite things. It reminded him of his father's. It was easy to make a little escape to see when Bruno needed to clear his head or if he wanted a moment with only Leone.

"I had to make sure that I had you all to myself…that can be difficult at the villa." Bruno could imagine trying to steal alone time with Narancia barging into every room without knocking or Giorno coming in needing something. These things had happened too many times before and changed the mood of the night.

This was why he and Leone had bought a lock for their door.

Leone tightened his grip on Bruno and nuzzled his head. "Having you all to myself is the greatest gift I could have ever asked for."

Bruno chuckled and snuggled against Leone. "Flatterer."

"What?" Leone jokingly gasped. "I would never."

"Of course you wouldn't." Bruno slowed the boat down, feeling like they were far enough out that they shouldn't be disturbed. He dropped the anchor so they wouldn't float too far away. He grabbed Leone's hand and gently pulled him to the deck with him.

The breeze was chilly in the middle of the sea. Bruno almost wished he'd worn a warmer coat, but he pulled the large fuzzy blanket out of the floor compartment. That's also where he stored lunch and many bottles of wine. He grabbed one of those bottles before closing the lid.

"It's chilly out today," Leone also noted. He was staring out at the sea with his arms wrapped around himself. The breeze gently blew his hair and at his new scarf.

Bruno pulled the blankets around his own shoulders and sat on the deck. He opened a spot for Leone to join. "Come here then."

Leone saw the open blanket and dove in and Bruno closed the blanket around them. Leone wiggled around as he snuggled into Bruno's warmth.

"Better, amore mio?"

"This is much better."

Bruno kissed Leone's head and rested against it. "As soon as you've warmed up, I've brought wine."

Leone hummed in Bruno's hold. "Wine too? You really are treating me today. I feel like I'm gonna have to plan Valentine's Day Part Two to make up for having nothing."

Bruno shook his head. "As long as you're happy, that's all I need."

Leone's hand grasped Bruno's face and angled it down towards him. His cool lips captured Bruno's in a warm kiss.

Bruno deepened the kiss by leaning in. His arms wrapped tighter around Leone's torso, feeling like he couldn't hold him close enough. Leone's hands were in his hair. His nails gently scraped against Bruno's skin, making Bruno shiver.

Without thinking about it, Bruno's hand moved on its own. Bruno was drunk on Leone without taking a single sip of wine. His hand slowly trailed down Leone's torso, feeling every dip and change. His hand dipped a little under Leone's waistband.

"Whoa—Bruno, I know you're eager, but shouldn't we have a drink first?" He teased Bruno again, knowing that Bruno tended to act without thought.

Bruno blushed and retracted his hand. "A drink might help."

"Will it? Or will you get more grabby?"

"Depends," Bruno whispered into Leone's ear. "Do you want me too?"

Leone shivered against him and leaned forward to grab the wine. Bruno could see the tinge of red sneaking up his neck, signaling a blush.

"Do you want some too?"

"Please."

Leone grabbed the bottle and looked at the label. He smiled and Bruno knew he'd grabbed the right one. Leone popped the cork and poured two generous glasses. He relaxed back into Bruno's hold once again and held Bruno's glass out to him.

Bruno leaned his head forward expectantly.

"Are you gonna—oh. The things I do for you." Leone lifted the glass to Bruno's lips and tipped it for him. And kept tipping. Bruno made a noise of surprise and tried to give Leone the signal to stop. "Oh no, you're going to drink all of this, so I don't have to hold your glass for you. That's right…keep drinking…there you go." Leone pulled the glass away.

Bruno took a deep breath and frowned at Leone. He'd just drank an entire glass of wine and Leone was innocently sipping his full glass. "Do you really want me drunk this early?"

"You had breakfast with me, I don't think it'll be that bad."

"You mean the one crescent roll I had while you ate everything else?"

"…I was hungry."

"So was I…still am, but now for something else."

Leone held up his glass. "You'll have to wine and dine me. And you seem to be missing the dine part."

Bruno shook his head. He was starting to feel a warm feeling in his gut. "I have the dine part too. I had food from Libeccio delivered."

"When did that happen?"

Bruno nuzzled Leone's head. "While you were doing dishes."

"You're sneaky…you did think of everything. How did I get so lucky to snag you?"

Bruno pressed a kiss against Leone's temple. "You walked into my life and made me feel things I'd never felt before…and you stayed with me despite everything that happened in the last few years. You're the most amazing man I've ever met."

"Bruno…"

"It's true. You're my heart and soul."

"Damn it." Leone set the glass of wine on the ground a safe distance away and turned in Bruno's hold. He straddled Bruno and pulled the tipsy man's lips to his.

Leone tasted like bitter wine; Bruno knew the taste but couldn't bring himself to care to remember. He was very busy with the lips on his. His thoughts were hazy and very focused on Leone. Bruno pulled Leone tightly against him.

Bruno's hands slowly ran up and down Leone's back as they kissed. Leone's hands were lost in Bruno's hair again, slowly turning Bruno's head to the side.

Leone moved from Bruno's mouth and slowly peppered warm kisses on his cold neck. It made Bruno shiver and Leone grew more confident. His light kisses turned to sucking, causing a small gasp to leave Bruno's lips.

"L—leone."

"Yes?"

Bruno lost his focus for a moment as Leone continued his assault. "We shouldn't go too far…cold outside."

Leone chuckled into his neck. "What, you don't want to freeze with me? Don't worry, I'll keep all the important parts warm. Think of it as my Valentine's gift to you."

Bruno couldn't resist that promise. He loved when Leone was feeling bold. "Ti amo, Leone."

"Ti amo anch'io, Bruno."

Bruno let Leone take care of him. He kept his word; Bruno never felt the cold. Leone's hands were warm and confident. Praises fell from Bruno's lips, some he meant, others slipped out, but Leone's reaction to each one made it worth it. Leone was always worth it.

After, Leone still made sure to keep Bruno warm as he cleaned up. He also brought the food out as Bruno was sobering up and they both were ready for a real meal. They finished off the bottle of wine and daring Leone brought out the next.

The rest of the afternoon was spent in a half-drunken bliss. Bruno couldn't have asked for a better day or a better Valentine.
