Tenko had a lot of time when he was under house arrest, it wasn’t like he could spend all of his time streaming. Sure he had to do that, and edit some videos, but that only took so long. There was a lot of downtime between finishing his work and when Natsuo got home. That time was spent either mindlessly scrolling through Youtube or stuck in existential thought.
Which brought Tenko to where he (?) was now.
He had fallen into a rabbit hole on the internet, something that wasn’t unheard of, but this time it was a lot different than all the other holes he had fallen down. It started off rather normal, he clicked through a few streamers that re-uploaded some content, then he was just picking random videos that were on the recommended page. That was where Tenko took a turn for the worse, or maybe it was for the better, that was still up in the air.
One video had let him to a video titled “The ABC’s of LGBT”, he clicked on it for some background noise if Tenko was being completely honest. But after a while, after quite a few videos, he started to pay more attention to what the person on the screen was saying. Another questionable decision.
All of those things led to where Tenko was now, scrolling through Tumblr trying to figure out what in the hell was going on in his mind. The scrolling led him to the word nonbinary, which felt… different to say the least.
It felt right, which scared him a bit. Tenko always thought he was a guy, he him, a cis guy (he learned that recently), but apparently all of that was falling apart around him. He had seen some stuff about using gender-neutral pronouns, only they them. Those also felt nice, imagining someone calling them, well a them, felt really nice.
Now after a week or so of sitting on it, Tenko realized that they should probably tell Natsuo. Which was going to be hard. He was curled up on the couch next to Natsuo, finally being able to relax, well as much as they could relax when Tenko was about to come out.
Tenko didn’t really have to come out before, at least now officially. The League didn’t really care about any of that stuff, they accepted literally anyone and didn’t have a problem with the LGBTQ+ community. So having to do this was something that they weren’t used to.
Natsuo noticed that Tenko was a bit nervous, shaking a bit and scratching at his neck, something that he only did when he was nervous now. “Okay Ten, what’s up?”
Tenko looked up at Natsuo, leaning off of their boyfriend’s shoulder for a second. “What are you talking about?” He knew how stupid that was to say.
Natsuo gave them a bored expression, “Nope something’s up. So what is it?”
Tenko thought to himself, he could just do it now, they might as well. He took a deep breath, “Okay, you love me right? Like nothing gonna change that?”
Natsuo wrapped his arm around the smaller person’s shoulder, “Of course, that’s not gonna change any time soon. Why are you questioning that?”
Tenko looked down at his hands, “Alright, so I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. About a week ago I found these videos, and they helped out a lot.” They took another deep breath, “What I’m trying to say is that I’m nonbinary!” There was a pause, Tenko looked up to see his boyfriend’s reaction. Natsuo was smiling and took the other into his arms, they weren’t really expecting that. “Wait so you’re alright with it?”
Natsuo pulled back a little, a confused look on his face, “As long as you’re happy then I’m happy. So I’m not the best with this so can you explain a bit. I know that its like not male or female, right?”
Tenko nodded, “Uh yeah. I still sorta feel like a guy, not completely but a little bit? I like he him pronouns still, but could you try to use they them too? I learned about them so now I want to try them out.”
Natsuo pulled his partner into his lap, completely flustering the other, “I’ll do whatever you need Ten. Anything else I should know, do you want me to still call you my boyfriend or something else?”
Tenko thought about it for a moment, it wasn’t something that they had been thinking about. He was mostly focused on the fact that they were going to come out to their boyfriend. “I guess for now I just want to be called your partner, it would get the point across to other people a bit quicker I think.”
Natsuo pulled his partner into a tender kiss, “Okay Tenko, I love you no matter what alright?”
Tenko smiled, happy that they were being accepted, “I love you too Nat.”
