Work Text:

Sherlock ran a hand through his hand and sighed. He really wanted to just take a break from  work and go on a vacation with Liam. With a heave he jostled the apartment door open and walked inside only to be greeted by his beloved husband William. He immediately threw his arms around William who was clad in pajamas befitting the time of night.

"My dearest Liam, please bestow upon me some love!" he griped ever-so dramatically.

William laughed heartily and snaked his arms behind his neck to entangle his fingers with Sherlock’s. He brought their hands down in between them and leaned in to peck Sherlock’s lips. Sherlock hummed into the kiss, pleased.

“Perhaps you should take a bath darling,” William murmured as he pulled away.

“Do I smell that awful?” Sherlock sniffed his collar

“No, you just seemed tired, warm water would do you some good.” William untangled their hands gently

“Mm I'll go, may I have another kiss first?” Sherlock leaned close with a loopy smile

illuminating his face and his eyes shut. William pressed a finger against his lips.

“I'll think about it after your bath.”

Sherlock huffed, his face twisted into a theatrical sulk. Then he went into the bathroom and closed the door. William chuckled, his husband was much too cute.

Sherlock exited the bathroom, releasing a bout of steam into the living room. He had a towel draped on his head, his hair trailing loosely down his nape.  Liam was right, the bath truly did wonders for the tension stored in his body. He headed to their bedroom thinking of turning in early that night.

William sat propped up on their bed, a book secured in his hands and reading glasses sitting low on his nose. He looked up at the door when he heard footsteps nearing the room. Sherlock entered in all his glory, another towel fastened at the waist. He grabbed some clothes from the wardrobe before slipping on a loose fitting shirt and a pair of boxers. Liam watched him all the while. He couldn't say he didn't enjoy the view.

Sherlock slipped into bed and laid his head on Williams lap. He grabbed the book from his hands and placed it on the bedside table. William took off glasses and set it down on top of the book. William carded his fingers gently through Sherlocks slightly dampened hair. Sherlock closed his eyes, enjoying the feeling. He hummed in content. William loved seeing his lover look so placid. Sherlock was easily stressed, he tended to overthink and stress over choices he had made long ago. He supposed that was the cost of being ‘London's Greatest Detective’. However fleeting moments like this when the two could live simply as a married couple and tune out the madness that was the ever-changing and ever-dangerous England were the moments William would always cherish.

“Can I claim that kiss now?” Sherlock opened one eye to peer at William.

William cupped his hands around Sherlock's face and bent down to place a spiderman kiss on his beloved’s lips.

“What did I do to deserve you Liam.” Sherlock murmured as he brought one of Liam's palms to his mouth and pecked it lovingly.

“You deserve so much more Sherlock but you choose me and I love you dearly for that.” William smiled warmly, his heart brimming with affection.

Sherlock's face mirrored Williams, genuine joy lightening his face.

That night they slept serenely, crime and mystery the farthest thing from their mind. Sherlock's arm draped over Liam's waist and their legs intertwined beneath the covers was enough to convince William to stay in bed when the sun arose the next morning. William would relish in this moment for as long as he could because who knew what the future had in mind for them.
