Work Text:
It was simple, really. Lana had shifted her legs so her knees brushed against Mia’s and her computer slid until it precariously laid on both of their laps, wobbling with every movement and fidget. It was harder to type that way, Mia guessed, and the report was due tomorrow, but Lana made no move to scoop up her computer, only huddling closer to Mia and resting her wrists on the computer as she typed.
Mia watched as she did, finding the fact that her girlfriend never looked away from her essay strange, but endearing in some uncanny way. She let her notes fall beside her on her bed, and chose to watch Lana’s hands go over the keyboard, almost in perfect time with Melissa Etheridge’s voice on her radio. Her Yes I Am CD spun within the machine, and, in an example of serendipity, Come To My Window filled the room with song.
Mia’s lips turned up in a fond smile as she watched letters press onto the screen. Maya had joked that she and Lana were a “coming - of - age movie about finding love” - she swooned dramatically - “where you least expected it.” Letting herself settle against Lana’s side, she supposes that they do fit a certain trope, and was surprised at how little the thought bothered her. She took one of Lana’s wrists, the one not currently employed on the keyboard, and pulled it over her shoulders, bringing the embrace to its full capacity.
Lana’s eyes met her cheek for a moment.
She set her bangs out of her eye with the hand Mia had pulled around herself.
The night went on.
