Work Text:
Maya and Ema walked beside each other, a hot chocolate in Maya’s hand, and a black coffee in Ema’s. Both of them giggled and walked with a bunce in their step, any attempt to be quiet completely destroyed by Kay’s excited yelling from Ema’s phone, congratulating her girlfriend and Maya on their deft detective work, then joking that she was hurt that they left her out. A bit of cocoa dripped onto Maya’s hand.
“ It was a sister’s intuition type thing, we barely even had time to tell you before we started!”
Call it sister’s intuition, but it was pretty obvious. Unfocused was not in Mia nor Lana’s vocabulary, yet, Ema could peek into her sister’s office and find her eyes drifting to her phone, stifling giggles with her hand about whatever she found. Mia, on the other hand, seemed more far - off and dreamy, cloud - nine contentment dancing in her eyes. Something was up with both of them, and the younger sister was designed to never relent. Maya managed to stay quiet while Ema had to slam a hand over her mouth as they watched their elder sisters from around the corner. They were in Lana’s office, laughing and making directionless jokes while Lana did some paperwork. Mia had bent down to Lana’s level and pressed a chaste kiss to her lips, and, after a moment of lazy eye - opening, went back to aimless chatting like nothing had happened at all.
“ Well, if they deny it, I hope you have enough evidence to make a better case than Edgeworth did today”, Kay said casually, snickering when a asservate “Hey!” was heard in the distance.
“Give him a break”, Ema chuckled.
“ I wouldn’t be able to focus either if I was daydreaming about Phoenix as much as he was.”
Before Edgeworth could make another indignant - and, honestly, unconvincing - comment, Maya raised her styrofoam cup into the night air, Ema quickly seeing and mimicking her as Kay grabbed her gatorade to do the same.
“To Childish Mettling - it’s never failed me once!”, Maya joked.
“ To Meddling!”
