Summary
Diluc watched Kaeya in silence. He was so used to the other man’s lies that it felt strangely relieving to hear him pouring out his heart for once.
“We are not brothers. Never were,” he agreed, his voice low, his arms again crossed in front of his chest, shirt still open.
“What,” Kaeya began again, stepping carefully closer, “do I have to do to earn your trust again?”
“I don’t know,” Diluc replied, closing his eyes for a moment.
“Will you ever stop hating me?” Kaeya held his breath after asking the question. He was ready to leave and never come back should the answer be no. Diluc opened first one eye, then the other, sighed, and nodded curtly, his scowl though staying in place.
“With time, I guess.”
Exhaling slowly, Kaeya turned to exit the room through the window he had come in.
“I guess you need to thaw my heart that you have frozen over in the first place.”
