“What else was on the list?” Midoriya asked adding a whole box of the instant ramen packets to the cart
“Bakugou said eggs but he didn’t put them on the list,” Todoroki said waving the paper slightly
“Maybe we shouldn’t bring them just so he learns to put them on the list from now on,” Midoriya teased but aimed the cart toward the eggs
“Where did he go anyway? He ditched us as soon as we entered the store,” Todoroki said peeking around the end cap like Bakugou would be standing there arms crossed with a scowl in wait
“No clue we will call him before we pay,” Midoriya stared at the eggs before him tapping his chin
Maybe to be spiteful he would get Bakugou least favorite brand. There were a lot of growing teens in the dorms and while most meals the school handled thanks to Lunch Rush there was a lot of cooking that went on in the dorms. Bakugou and Sato often controlled what ingredients were available. Not to mention Momo and her random requests.
Todoroki kept reading off the list that their classmates had scribbled requests on finally finishing with an embarrassingly almost overfull cart. Sure there were a lot of them in the dorms but still with how much they had it looked like they were feeding half the school not just a bunch of growing teens.
They pulled into line behind what seemed to be an ancient lady slowly hand counting everything while the poor checkout girl looked ready to just rip it out of her hand and count it herself. Todoroki pulled out his phone and hit Bakugou’s number only for it to be ignored.
“Maybe we should put back the eggs,” He muttered earning a chuckle from Midoriya
Midoriya pulled out his phone hitting the contact labeled Kacchan with the little explosion emoji beside it. It rang twice before a short and angry ‘What’ came across the phone. Midoriya covered the mouthpiece and turned to Todoroki.
“Go put the eggs back,” He muttered
Todoroki nodded picking up the eggs and handing Midoriya Endeavor’s card.
“Kacchan we are about to leave, where are you?”
“I’m talking. Did you get my eggs?”
“No Todoroki said they aren’t on the list,” The lady in front of him finally moving
“What? I told Icy Hot to get some!”
Midoriya smirked slightly. Bakugou wasn’t going to pull anything in public. Plus he had Todoroki as back up so he could tease him a little bit.
“Sorry Kacchan we are already checking out. Maybe if you hadn’t run off you could have gotten them yourself,” He handed the checkout girl the card with a small smile as soon as Todoroki returned
The girl blushed as the mutliquirk user reappeared and ran the card handing it back to Midoryia who passed it back to Todoroki. He could feel her eyes dart back and forth between them as Todoroki signed.
“We are almost out front. Meet us there will you,” Midoryia told Bakugou who seemed to be grumbling
“Well hold a damn second I’ve got to go back and get the eggs. I will meet you out front.” Bakugou ended the call and Midoryia felt a bit smug for all of five seconds about it
“Where’s Bakugou,” Todoroki asked grabbing some bags and lightly pushing the cart to where it belonged
“Getting eggs. Don’t tell him we had them in the cart,” Midoriya said grabbing the last of the bags
Todoroki lifted an eyebrow but nodded. They moved out of the store to stand in the front and wait for Bakugou. Conversation of the latest hero news the new topic as they waited. Todoroki’s gaze flickered from Midoryia to another group of kids hanging around the front as well.
“Do you know them? They have been whispering about you,” Todoroki asked tilting his head slightly
Midoriya blinked distracted by the way the conversation had turned. He tilted his head to see just past Todoroki to see Bakugou exit the store but also to see a slightly familiar group of old classmates.
A brief cold memory flashed through Midoriya’s brain as he recognized them. Often found behind Bakugou laughing or teasing him just as well. Occasionally being oh so kind enough to mention to Bakugou that he wasn’t worth the effort only for them to gladly assist in chasing him three blocks that one time because he accidentally bumped into one of them.
“Oh.. yeah they um… are some old classmates,” Midoriya whispered trying to avoid them noticing he noticed them
Todoroki moved his attention to Bakugou who was carrying his eggs with an annoyed look.
“Did you find your eggs?”
“You idiots could have just grabbed them the first time,” he spat slightly
“They weren’t on the list,” Todoroki said making Midoriya smirk a little
“I was busy playing catch up,” Bakugou jerked a thumb back to their old school mates
Well no hiding it now really as the group had obviously seen the gesture and Todoroki was again looking at the group. Midoriya also tilted his head again, seeing the group staring at them. He swallowed and gave a small wave a weak smile at the group.
And he was blessed by the most amusing sight
The group squeaked and scrambled slightly. Some ran into each other, accidentally setting off their quirks. Puffs of bubbles exited from one. Limbs did odd stretches and Midoriya was pretty sure he saw eyes bulge was too far from where they typically could go from in the past as the small group took off in the opposite direction.
Midoriya couldn’t stop the confusion from showing in his face. Mouth dropped slightly at the sight of his former bullies scattering as if someone just dumped water snakes onto them.
Bakugou's face seemed to mimic Midoriya for all over ten seconds before almost falling to his knees in laughter. Todoroki reeled back slightly from Bakugou staring at the blond causing a scene in front of the store.
“That has to be the best fuckin thing I’ve ever seen! The questions about Deku earlier,” he wheezed slightly laughing harder, “The idiots are afraid of him now.”
Midoriya’s mouth moved up and down slightly without purpose, staring in slight horror at Bakugou. Todoroki stared down at Bakugou, his phone sideways in his hands.
“What did you tell them?” Midoriya finally managed
Bakugou seemed to finally be catching his breath enough to answer, “They were asking about your stupid quirk and how come we never knew about yours as a kid. They said one wrong move you could have killed them. Cowards are chickens apparently.”
Todoroki carefully put back his phone before Bakugou noticed anything.
“So what do they think I’m going to kill them now?” Midoriya shrieked earning a glare from a couple walking past
“Probably. Would be worth seeing,” Bakugou smirked switching the bag of eggs to his other arm
“Should have sent them film of our first training exercise with All Might then,” Midoriya muttered under his breath turning on his heel to head back to UA
“So wait… Bakugou did Midoriya use to be a bully or something? Is that why the old classmates just ran?” Todoroki didn’t bother softening his voice to a whisper so Midoriya heard turned back to face him making a small squeak
Bakugou narrowed his eyes and blinked slowly at Todoroki as if the words were that confusing.
To Midoriya’s horror Bakugou started laughing once again. Todoroki glancing between Bakugou and Midoriya obviously confused on what was wrong with the question.
“Yeah. Deku the biggest bully around.”
“Kacchan!”
