Chapter Text
Izuku Bakugou had been through a lot. Like, a lot. From being targeted at the USJ, to the first year Sports Festival, and then learning the truth about what happened to his parents. The truth about the Pro Hero Massacre. All within a month. Stuff like that is kind of traumatizing to a teenager.
Despite Sumire Kuri using her quirk on Midoryia negatively, she had managed to fix it. For the most part. Maybe. He definitely wasn't back to himself, and probably would never be the same ever again. Getting back into therapy definitely helped, but it wasn't really going to change the physical damage done. It was barely helping the mental and emotional damage, honestly.
Although it seemed like Midoriya was getting better within the first month, he had just been in... denial. He thought he could just jump back into everything, get back to normal. Just after they came back from their extended summer break, his own facade of normality faded.
He never really got to process his trauma. He was just kind of rushed through it all. It wasn't until he was left alone in his dorm room for a few minutes when everything crashed down on him. Those memories he had tried to hard to repress so he could just get back to his life came flooding back to him.
After only being back on campus for less than a week, Todoroki returned to the room to find Midoriya on the phone, telling Mitsuki that he couldn't do it. Not yet, at least.
He ended up not showing up to class for at least a month while he processed his trauma with his therapist. And although it was going to take a long time to process it all, as Midoriya returned to classes slowly, his new self started to solidify itself. He began to finally settle down, in a sense. He became louder than he used to be, more blunt, and had those bouts of anger at times. He held aspects of his old self, though.
The second half of their first year was easy going, but once second year came around, that's when more opportunities came up for all of them. First of all, Shinsou, Toga, and Monoma advanced from their special program. Shinsou was placed into 2-A, and Toga and Monoma were placed in 2-B.
While their first year at UA seemed to go by so slowly, the last two years went by quickly. Too quickly. From internships, to work studies, to actually being able to finish the Sports Festival, things went by fast.
It was terrifying to be accepted as a sidekick at a large agency. Well, not so much when your boyfriend and brother were going to be working at the same agency. Still terrifying, nonetheless. The idea of hero work was no longer a far away, horrifying dream; it was now reality and extremely thrilling.
Midoriya had a four year streak of peace since everything last went down with the League.
But it was inevitable that it would end.
