Flakes of silver and pearl

Work Text:

Snow fell from the dark afternoon sky, a gray silk sheet covered the sky as white flecks flitted down onto the snow-packed ground. White ribbons and wreaths decorated the trees in white as flakes made out of pearl and silver fell down, landing on people’s hats, hair, and hoods like glitter. Izuku loved watching the snow fall. So much so that he didn’t even mind the cold, especially when his fiance held his hand, her auburn hair so covered in snow that it looked as if she was wearing a crown out of agate and diamond.

The couple walked through the snow covered park, paper cups of hot chocolate warmed their hands, both of them watching the park, their gloved hands holding each other as they watched the specks of white fall. Ochako then picked out a nice spot where they could rest, a snow-covered bench that overlooked the park and an ice-covered pond. Izuku nodded, agreeing that he could use a break before they both sat down, their hands still held.

Watching the snow fall, Izuku then turned his attention towards the people in the park. Several of them were families, parents taking their children to play in the snow, building snow forts, snowmen, throwing snowballs at each other, or giggling as they skidded down their plastic sleds. Others were just pedestrians who walked around to enjoy the snow as they did, a fair number of them were couples enjoying the snow and whatever hot treats they had in their bags or in hand. It prided Izuku to know that his work would carry on to this, a society where a doom-filled anvil didn’t hang above the heads of the people. He rested his head on Ochako’s shoulder, his hot red cheeks pressed against the snow on her shoulder, but he could care less for the cold.

Ochako held Izuku’s hand, feeling his snow covered hat tickle her neck, letting in bits of snow slip down her scarf. Ochako then finished her cocoa, leaving the empty cup under her bench as she listened to people laugh, talk, and play. As the air grew more frigid, the snowflakes began getting larger as they fell.

“Izuku, look!” Ochako gently slipped her hand out of his grip, taking off the glove on her right hand, revealing the ring that Izuku gave her. The silver ring glimmered in the winter light, the white gem sparkling as she held it up to the snow. Izuku opened his eyes, catching eye of the ring being held up to the sky. “The ring looks like the snow, doesn’t it?”

“Yeah, it sure does.” Izuku said, holding her hand as he stared at the ring, showing how it glistened like the snow. He then took her hand in his, her fingers going pink and cold, hoping to warm her up. Izuku turned, Ochako looking down at the ring and back to the snow, Izuku then lifted her hand, kissing it. Their hands still warm, Ochako rested her head against Izuku’s cheek, both of them cuddling as they watched the snow.
