"This is frankly unfair, you look handsome in all of them" Jugyeong pouted as she watched Suho emerge with the newest suit. She knew letting him go first was a huge mistake because he looked so good in everything, it was definitely unfair.
He laughed as he watched her, knowing that he would be all the more mesmerized when it was her turn to model dresses. He had one suit that he liked, but of course he wanted her opinion. "Do you have a favorite, hmm?"
She deliberated for a moment as she thought back, he’d modeled five suits, per the recommendation of the sales person. If anything she knew that she was partial to the two black suits he had modeled. After all she found him to look especially good when he wore black, but this was more of what he felt comfortable in as well. "I liked the black ones"
"Which one, there were two?" the amusement was clear in his eyes as he locked gazes with her. Definitely unfair, how was it possible for him to still this heart fluttering effect on her, even after all of this time.
"Whichever one you like" she countered, knowing she wouldn't be able to pick one anyway. She would probably overthink it, but by helping him narrow it down, if he was okay with what she said, he could still pick what HE wanted. After all this was his wedding too, he needed to have as much input.
"What if I say I liked the navy one"
"That one was really nice too"
She knew he was teasing her now, she could hear it in his tone. Her reply was still sincere, so she knew he wouldn't mind it. She would be happy with whatever he chose, after all in the end she'd think he looked amazing in anything.
"I think, the second black suit. The one I tried on third" he said after a moment, she knew which one too. It had been black with very light stripes, honestly it had made the black color pop all the more. So she could definitely understand why he’d chosen it.
She nodded, "Perfect", she gave him a bright smile as he disappeared back to change back into his clothes. She was slightly nervous at the idea of putting on a wedding dress, she knew the very nice sales lady would help her, but it was slightly nerve wracking. She had a mental image of what her perfect dress looked like, she would have been lying to herself if she didn't admit that. She'd looked through bridal magazines multiple times through the years, and she knew what she liked.
Her worry now was that she was too fixated on her mental image and she wouldn't be able to find the right dress. She felt a soft tap on her nose and she realized that Suho had rejoined her, she gave him a look as he motioned to the waiting sales lady, it was her turn. Suho gave her hand a light squeeze as she stood and moved towards the changing room. She'd picked three different styles, the woman had picked two others based on her choices. They were all hanging in front of her now, and she felt an indescribable feeling in the pit of her stomach. A mixture of nerves and excitement maybe.
She grabbed the first dress and moved to the dressing room, the sales lady telling her that she would be right outside to help her with any zippers or buttons that needed doing. She did her best to quickly change, ensuring none of the material caught itself on anything. She did as many of the buttons as she could herself, before she carefully gathered the skirt to exit the dressing room. There was a little noise of approval from the sales lady as she helped with the remaining buttons. She showed her where to walk, and the nerves started up again.
She carefully moved, vowing to not fall especially because the skirt was fuller than she had expected. The detail was beautiful, but it definitely didn't feel like THE dress. When the curtains moved, she locked gazes with Suho as she saw his eyes widen slightly. She couldn't readily identify the look he was giving her, which was strange to her. "You look beautiful" his voice was barely audible, but it made her face warm up.
She was led back to the changing room, and she went through the process three more times. The second dress was definitely more her style, but she felt like it had too much detailing. The third dress was comfortable but it didn't feel right, and the fourth was more like the first and it definitely had the wrong feel to it. Each dress was beautiful and the look Suho seemed to get whenever the curtains revealed the next dress seemed so full of marvel that it made the fact she hadn't felt right in any dress all the worse.
The last dress was beautiful too, it definitely felt closer to what she wanted, but it wasn't exactly what she envisioned. She'd loved the off the shoulder feel of the first one, but maybe with the long flowing sleeves, she'd have to pick a dress that had full shoulder coverage. After she returned to the dressing room for the final time, the sales lady approached her with one more dress. It hadn't been in the choices, and she explained it had just come in. It fit what she had been looking for, and maybe Jugyeong would like it.
When the curtain pulled back for what was the final time, she knew this was the one. But she also knew that Suho's opinion would matter. So as he stood and approached her once she emerged, she felt the nerves from earlier bloom into excitement. "You're practically glowing"
"I think this is the dress" she smiled as she looked at him happily. The look on his face alone made her realize that it really was, his eyes were teary, a feeling she could relate to because she felt like she herself was about to cry, he reached for her for a moment before stopping realizing that they weren’t alone.
“Then it’s the dress” he said as he moved back to sit in his designated spot, as Jugyeong nodded. She brushed away the few tears that did manage to escape as she moved back to change into her clothes. Feeling much lighter than when she’d entered the dressing room originally. Maybe it was because out of everything they still had to do, she’d expected this to take the longest.
The sales lady spoke to them about alteration appointments in accordance to when their wedding date was, just to ensure that they were happy with what they chose, and they were sent on their way. “Should I tell everyone I made you cry with the dress?” she teased him lightly as they walked towards the car.
Suho chuckled as he gave her fingers a squeeze, “If I remember correctly, you weren’t very straight faced yourself”
He had a point, she was sure she was switching off between being starry eyed at how handsome he looked and almost crying because they were picking their clothes for their wedding. They were going to be married. Even though they’d been planning for two months now, it still seemed like something out of this world. Something she’d never even believed would happen when she first saw him walk into the office after she’d transferred schools.
“Suah was very adamant that we join her and Taehoon for drinks tonight” she told him as they reached the car. Suho laughed, knowing that her friend could be very pushy when she wanted to be, and she’d been hounding her for weeks, ever since he’d proposed at Namsan Peak. “I’m guessing we can’t go hide at Prince Comics for the rest of the afternoon, then?” Suho asked as he opened the car door for her to get into the car.
Jugyeong shook her head as she slid into her seat, she just hoped that they wouldn’t be privy to one more of Suah and Taehoon’s fights tonight. They’d been going strong for over a year now, but there was always that fear, especially when alcohol was involved. She had a thought to invite Seojun, but they weren’t sure if he’d have the time, and where they’d be. The last thing he needed was to end up on the cover of some gossip page that he was out getting drunk with friends. As she deliberated this, a text message came in, and she smiled as she turned to look at Suho who was pulling into the street.
“Sujin is back, maybe we should invite her to come along too” Suho nodded as he drove back to the apartment. She sent a quick text to Sujin to ask her to join them for drinks, and when she replied in the affirmative, she quickly sent another text to Suah letting her know about the addition to their group. It would be a fun little get together.
