He picked A-Yuan up, balancing him carefully on his hip as he threw a bright smile in Lan Wangji’s direction. “Ah, A-Yuan, what are you doing to poor Lan Zhan?” He pressed a finger against the boy’s nose, pleased when the action drew a delighted laugh from him. Then his expression grew serious. “Now, A-Yuan, what have I told you about running off, eh? You had me so worried.” He sighed. “You’re lucky it was Hanguang Jun that you met. He’s an honorable alpha. But remember I told you that not everyone is, so now you have to promise me you won’t do that again?”
A-Yuan looked as contrite as such a young child could look, chewing on his finger as he nodded solemnly. Wei Wuxian was satisfied and turned back to Lan Wangji to see the alpha’s head tilted slightly in confusion, and he had to laugh at the picture he probably presented. He couldn’t help but tease Lan Wangji a little bit when he saw him looking at himself and A-Yuan, and he let the boy back down to the floor, proudly patted his own chest, and said, “Ah, Lan Zhan, I see you’ve met my child.”

“Lan Zhan, I…”
He was cut off when Lan Wangji lifted a shaky hand from the wall, trailing trembling fingers lightly down Wei Wuxian’s side only to hesitate at his waistline. It was then that the omega realized what it was that had made Lan Wangji pull away and, with a soft smile, he curled his own hand around Lan Wangji’s and guided the alpha to where he so very clearly wanted to touch.
Those same trembling fingers pressed gently against his abdomen, feeling the soft swell of his stomach where normally there would be flat planes.
“Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji spoke in a whisper, awe coating every syllable of Wei Wuxian’s name, as though even the very utterance was something precious to be savored. He looked up at Wei Wuxian, and the omega felt his smile widen at the look of pure, unbridled joy that had bloomed on the alpha’s face. His eyes were bright, almost sparkling with emotion, his smile, though small, was so radiant and bright. “Wei Ying, it’s…” His words died in his throat, and Wei Wuxian could have almost sworn that they’d been stoppered by the intense rush of feelings that soared through him.
He nodded and replied, “It’s real,” and then covered Lan Wangji’s hand with both of his own, holding him there, enjoying the heat that flowed from Lan Wangji’s palm through his body. “It’s real and they’re ours. This child… is ours.”

His eyes trailed down Wei Wuxian’s body. And there it was, the evidence that he’d wanted to find. The soft swell of the omega’s stomach was just starting to show from beneath his robes. The scent that emanated from him was a perfect blend of his own, and Lan Wangji’s.
The omega in question had apparently noticed the attention, and his hand quickly rose to cover it. His face ducking down as the to hide whatever emotion had flickered across his face. Lan Wangji was carefully still next to him. He knew that his brother was no threat, he needed Wei Wuxian to figure that out for himself.
“I – I supposed you’re here to berate me.” Wei Wuxian spoke sullenly, “You know, for corrupting your brother. For taking him away from the Cloud Recesses. For ruining his reputation…”
“Wei Wuxian.” Lan Xichen cut him off quickly, “I am not here to do any of that.” He took a tentative step forward, coming to stand just in front of the pair, before dropping into a low bow, “I would ask, instead, for your forgiveness.”

Wei Wuxian sucked in a breath. He hadn’t exactly expected Lan Qiren to welcome them in with open arms, but to hear himself spoken about in such a tone… He tried to control his own emotions. A tall order for someone over four months into pregnancy, but he could feel Lan Wangji next to him, slowly letting the instinctual anger of his alpha take over his usually stoic demeanor.
He placed a hand on Lan Wangji’s arm, taking a deep breath as he did so, and shook his head.
