Work Text:

Xiao was very familiar with Venti’s antics. In fact, he was so familiar that when Venti gets serious, he was starting to wonder if he was dreaming. Currently, the said roommate was pouting because he had mentioned that he wanted to get a pet. Xiao had brushed it off, thinking that he was joking, and kept on watching his movie that was showing on the television. It wasn’t until the English major threw himself over the couch, making the other flinch, and turned towards him.

“Come on now! My course doesn’t have as many classes as yours, I get bored so very often~!” Venti said in a sing-songy tune, and it made Xiao look at him and feigned his disgust. The shorter of the two stuck his tongue out and ran into their bedroom, making the psych major sit up in wonder. After hearing what was going on in the room, Xiao felt shivers going down his spine, the bad type of shivers.

Just as he predicted, Venti ran out the room wearing his hoodie, meaning Xiao’s hoodie (which was obviously oversized for someone as small as Venti), a pair of pants, and his beanie. Not forgetting his backpack as well, he was dressed ready to head out.

Compared to the other, Xiao was wearing a simple black sleeveless shirt and skinny jeans which he was too lazy to change out of after his classes. He sighed, turning off the television, and got up from his seat. “You could’ve asked me before you stole another one of my hoodies.”

“It’s not stealing if I asked! Come on let’s go!!” Before Xiao could even react, Venti had already finished tying his own shoelaces. Twirling on his heels, he flashed the other a huge smile. Knowing that he had already lost the fight before he even began, Xiao ruffled his own hair and grunted before he made his way to the door.

“Fine… We’re only there to see which one we’re choosing.”

-

And that’s what he said an hour ago.

Xiao might’ve been enamored by the sight of Venti being surrounded by- How many was that? At least six rabbits. He was leaning against a wall with his hands crossed, as he looked at Venti playing with the rabbits. It was as if he went to heaven, and went to another heaven. The sight of Venti giggling when one of the rabbits rubbed its head against his hand made the edge of Xiao’s lips lift up.

Yes, he was crushing over said roommate. But is he ever going to admit it? Hell no.

His ears might’ve also picked up some girls fangirling over his tattoos, in which he just sighed and walked over to Venti. Ruffling the other’s hair, he gave him a hint about the amount of time they have spent on the rabbits. Venti gave him a sad pout, which had potentially made him stepped back in defense.

Not sure if it was his imagination, or if the rabbits were pouting as well.

“...You want the rabbits?”

“Yes!! They’re so adorable!!”

Xiao only gave a soft sigh and a nod, giving in to Venti’s wishes. But before the other could cheer in happiness, Xiao put one finger up.

“One.”

“Eh?!”

“We can only get one. Just… Choose your favorite and we can go home with it.” Venti kept his pout as he picked up one of the rabbits and had a staredown with it. This made the other sigh in endearment as he squatted down and touched the rabbit’s nose. “...This one?”

“Can’t we get m-”

“We are living in an apartment. You work part-time in Barbarabucks, I work part-time in Adepti topic, it all comes down to us both not having enough time to take care six rabbits at a time.”

Crap. He has a point.

“Fine... “ Venti said as he put down the rabbit that was already on his hand, and picked up another. “Then… This one! I want to name them… Choco!”

Xiao stared at the other extremely unamused.

“Venti, remind me if you take creative writing?”

“Yeah?”

“You… You just named a rabbit based on its color.”

“Well creative writing doesn't affect how I name my rabbit now, does it?”

Unfortunately, Venti does have a point. Xiao only sighed as he moved towards the cashier as he paid for the rabbit and the pieces of equipment needed for the best environment possible for it. Turning towards Venti, the guy was having fun with the rabbit that he had bought. Xiao only felt a twitch on the edge of his lips, making him smile unconsciously.

Maybe the rabbit would be an adorable addition to the somehow-quiet, yet exciting lifestyle that the two already have.
