Sieun is nineteen, hell, she'll be twenty this year. Which means she should really stop this childish act of hers and she should really try to be more mature. But she looks twelve anyways and nobody in this neighborhood except her friends, Sumin and Seeun, know her actual age.
Sieun manages to climb up on the orange tree. "Unnie try going all the way to the top." Seeun tells her so she does. Sumin and Seeun clap for her. She smiles proudly.
The moment passes and there's a beat of silence until Sieun starts panicking. "I don't know how to get down!" She yells. "Just jump! It's only like sixteen feet!"
Sumin raises her brow and leans close to Seeun's ear to whisper "Didn't you break your leg after jumping from a fifteen foot tree?" "Well yeah but I was like nine." "What are you two whispering about!" Sieun whines from the top of the tree.
"You were her height when you were nine though." Sumin whispers, Seeun shrugs "She'll be fine." she turns to Sieun "Just jump!" Sieun looks down. It's a long drop from the top.
"Seeun unnie, Sumin unnie?" a stranger joins her two friends under the tree. "Hey Yoon." Seeun and Sumin greet her. "Hey, what's up?" "Our friend is stuck."
The stranger looks up at Sieun, Sieun waves shyly. "Sieun-ah! Meet Jayoon!" Sumin yells.
"Now jump!" Seeun yells and Yoon turns to her surprised. She hits the older girl's shoulder "Unnie are you insane? She'll break a leg!" "I'll what!" Sieun yells from the top, shaking in fear. "Well think of something else then..." Seeun mutters, Yoon looks up at the horrified Sieun.
"What did you say her name was?" Yoon asks Sumin "It's Sieun." "Okay, okay... Sieun-ssi! I'm Yoon! Jump!" "What!" Sieun and Sumin gape at her, Seeun's face scrunches up in confusion. "Jump! I'll catch you!"
Sieun looks down at Yoon, her arms are open wide and she looks reliable enough. She braces herself and counts to three.
One, two, three. She screams her lungs out as she jumps.
She lands on top of Yoon. The younger girl groans under her.
"Sieun!" "Sieun unnie!" Sumin and Seeun immediately check on her and help her up, she looks down at Yoon who slowly clutches on to her left arm. Her bangs are a mess and her sleeves are dirty, and "My arm..."
Sumin helps her up. "Omo! Your arm!" Sieun gasps as she looks at Yoon's fractured left arm. Yoon looks at it too and she chuckles. "It hurts..." she looks up at Sieun "but I'm fine. You're okay, right? You didn't get hurt?" Sieun's heart skips a beat under Yoon's gaze. She feels her cheeks heating up.
Seeun looks between the two, she suddenly gasps and grasps at her heart "Oh! My heart! My heart!" Yoon stops looking at Sieun and checks on Seeun instead "Eh? What's wrong?" "My heart! It's bursting at how cute you two are!" Seeun suddenly squeals and Sumin slaps the side of her head. "Pabo."
"Yoon, let's get you to a hospital." Sumin grabs Yoon's right arm "Sieun-ah, you're still okay right?" she asks, Sieun nods.
Sumin leaves with Yoon.
Sieun watches. Her heart skipping a beat when Yoon waves a goodbye at her before wincing in pain since she had done it with her left arm.
Seeun smirks. She grabs a leaf that had fallen from the tree and she grabs a pen from her pocket.
"Here." she hands the leaf to Sieun "This is Yoon's number. Call her after April 14 though, when she's already seventeen."
Sieun looks at the leaf with digits written on them. She smiles and places it close to her heart.
