Touya sets the box down. He ignores the scratching. This is day 3 of trying to get Shouto to hunt. So far he's been unsuccessful. The little brat completely refuses to hunt like a real alpha. Some leader. How is the pack suppose to survive if they can't eat? How is he supposed to lead a hunt if he can't even kill a simple hare? Spoiled child.
Every day Touya leads the hunt in his father's absence. Every day Touya brings back food that fills even Shouto's stomach. The skin from Touya's catch makes Shouto's clothes and bed. That won't go on forever. If Shouto is going to steal the roll of head alpha then he'll have to fend for himself and stop mooching off others!
Touya ponts at the box "When I let it go you'll catch it and snap it's neck. Understood?" Shouto looks at the box with sad eyes. It isn't hard. This is what they teach pups with "Can't we just.....let it go? It isn't even big enough to feed us anyway...."
"Would you rather track a bear?"
"Can't we just not? You and the hunting team are doing just fine without me!"
"I'm not some errand boy! You are our future leader! You will lead the hunt! Take responsibility for once! Our most powerful think you weak and unfit - wich you are - if you wish to avoid being overthrown then I suggest you grow a pair!"
"I AM NOT WEAK! "
"PROVE IT!" Shouto realized he backed himself into a corner and his face fills with panic "Remember, if you want to participate in the run you'll have to show your ready. An alpha must provide for their pack. What omega would want a faulty alpha?" He was being harsh. He knew that. But he hopes to at least appeal to his brothers horny, prideful, alpha side.
It works.
Shouto puffed up his chest and snarls at his brother "I am NOT faulty!"
"Prove it." Touya let the hare out of the wooden box. It sets of at break neck speed. Shouto follows it disappearing into the distance. Touya smiles. Mabey there's hope for him after all?
Touya is still better though.
Touya is older, more experienced. He can hunt, fish, make traps. He can dig a den, scout good places to camp. He knows the poisonous berries and safe ones. He can make a fire. The pack respect him, the pups aim to be like him. He's strong. He should be the the next leader. Not Shouto. But he messed up. Just once was all it took to lose everything. One failed catch and Enji takes away his birth right.
When Shouto comes back the hare is limp in his hands. It looks a little battered and bruised but Touya will take it "Congrats sho! Father will be so proud! You did well." Shouto stares at the dead animal sightly green in the face "....It's always hard the first time, trust me I know, but it'll get easier. I promise." Shouto nods and they make their way back.

Touya is always amazed by abundance of air when he leaves the mountains. He's so used to the thin air at home that when he comes down he feels as though he'll never lose his breath. Really the mountain dwelling packs have a definite unfair advantage when it comes to the run.
Right, the run. The whole reason he and the rest (well actually just the single alpha's and omega's 16 and over plus Enji) of his pack are in neutral ground and away from the fridge cold, harsh winds and thin air. Instead they're in a rather idyllic Woodlands area. Touya would normally stay home to protect the people left at home but this year he is being forced to participate. Apparently 24 is to old to still be a bachelor and he needs to settle down and pup a bitch. How fun!
The rules are simple. In 3 days heated omega's and ruting alpha's will be let loose in the forest. Omega's will try to evade capture and try to only allow the best alpha's to mount them. While the alpha's try to catch the omega's. Simple. It's spring time to so all the omega's will be going into heat around the same time wich will set of the alpha's placebo rut (wich also has the great effect of forcing the few omega's not in heat to enter it).
Except Touya couldn't care less about omega's or "settling down". He's only participateing because of his terrible need for approval from Enji. Oh well, at least he's self-aware. Also his balls ache. They get like that in spring and autumn (that's when ruts happen) because his body is trying to make enough to satisfy an omega. Fucking asshole of a body. His body is a dick.
This whole thing is even worse because fuyumi and Shouto are also participating. Like gross. He really doesn't want there to even be a POSSIBILITY of seeing his little siblings have sex in the woods. Nasty. He's just glad Nat is a beta. He couldn't take seeing his favorite being defiled like that. Nope. He would have to get a whole new brother. And that whent soooooo well last time!
Ha! He might of just reached a new level of sarcastic.
The pack start setting up camp on Enji's command. Touya digs a den quickly while the omegas gather water and fire wood. Shouto and Enji go and play nice with the other pack leaders. This is the biggest run in Japan filled with the best of the best. This is where all the other lesser packs dream of coming. Most of the packs are 10000s of years old but there are a few new faces.
Like the Usagiyama pack. They have risen to a point where they can come only this year. Mostly because of their powerful and very desirable omega's. Unlike most packs they train their omegas just like regular warriors these omega's can easily fight, hunt and whatever else along side with an alpha. They find ways to compensate for their lesser strength. It helps that they are always underestimated. It remarkable.
Touya would like to see how frustrated the alpha's will become when they have so much trouble catching. It makes Touya's sadistic side happy.
"Todoroki." Touya's head snapped up and he grinned when a familiar face came into view. "Shimura, it's been a while. I see your eyes finally aren't too big for you head! Loving the new look by the way. Sheep wool suits you."
"I couldn't say the same for you and whatever the hell is around you waist."
"Aww, you don't like it? I'm quite proud of this baby. Black bear by the way, was terrorising our poor omega's while they scavenged."
"So you, the knight in shining armour, got rid of the problem?"
"Exactly!" Shimura Rolls his eyes "So, you gonna be running this year?"
"Yes, you?"
"Unfortunately. Who knows maybe I'll steal the one you want~"
"I'd like to see you try."
"OooOh~ so terrifying! Please don't hurt me alpha."
"You're so childish."
"I'm fun!"
"If that's what let's you sleep at night."
"Aww! Are you worried about me not sleeping enough? So sweet. I'm swooning!"
"Whatever Todoroki." grins brightly. He and Tenko have known echother for years. The Shimura pack are his pack's neighbours. He and Tenko got a long well even if Enji hated it. They were both future leaders and had a lot in common. Tenko was at the hunt that he lost everything at. Tenko started talking pulling Touya from his thoughts "I thought you should know, Kai has already layed his clam on an omega. So if you get challenged to a race by a blond omega don't even think about going after him."
"Fucking Kai." Touya said on instinct, then "Why the fuck is an omega challenging people to races?"
"I don't fucking know. It's weird."
Touya hummed "Thanks for the heads up!"
"No problem. See you Todoroki."
"See you!"

The woods are quiet and completely still. Touya's keen eyes scan his surroundings carefully. He waits patiently for any movement and eventually he's rewarded with a rustle of leaves and snaping sticks. He knows his team are becoming inpatient but they can't move yet. He raised his hand as a warning, they all know better than to attack without his order.

The unknowing stag walks on. Closer, closer and closer still. Then it stops to right where Touya wants. He signals for the others to box it in. This is Shouto's first time hunting with them and he doesn't get the signal right away and has to be dragged into position. The stag looks up when Shouto steps on a branch.
It runs straight for Shouto. Ready to skewer a him on it's antlers.
Touya was the only one that reacts on time. He changes forward and grabs it's antlers in a iron grip. He brings it to the ground before it can change targets. The speed and force that it was grabed and brought down with snaps it's neck with a sickening crack.

Touya grunts. He'll have to work on the others reaction time. Standing up he looks over at Shouto. It is at times like this when he can only think of Shouto as a pup. He's so young, he still has baby fat for god's sake! His different colored eyes are wide with shock and he's so pale "A stag will attack when it's ruting. Be more careful whear you step. Don't let it get you" Shouto nods. Touya hums "Let's get this back yeah?"
"Yes sir!"
"Good. And extra reflex training when he get back!" the team grons "don't worry, I'll let you have some time with you sweethearts." They wine embarrassed.

It's on the walk back when Touya meets him. He stood at the front his catch thrown over his shoulder, only half listening to the others rambling about how many cute omega's there are and how their "totally gonna catch the hottest one!" when a omega steps in his way.
He's typically petite with blonde, hair honey gold eyes and a grin that put the sun to shame. His hands rest on each of his wide hips. He has on red fox fur and a leather vest, Bracer And he has on a necklace made of little bird skulls "Wanna race?"
Touya opened his mouth, then closed it when he couldn't think of anything to say. There is just too much to unpack. First, why is this omega alone smelling like that? Second why would he walk up to a group of alpha's? Third then why would he ask to race? Also why dose he smells so fucking good? Vinila and cocoa? Fucking intoxicating!
Touya trys again "....no?......"
He pouts "Aww, come on! It'll be fun!"
"No." Touya repeats much more sure of himself now. His soft cheeks puff. 'Well that's adorable' Touya thinks "Please? I bet I could out run you!" Touya huffs "Well that's rude."
"Your rude."
"What are you 5?"
"Hmpf, just race me!"
"No." he bats his stupidly long, thick and dark lashes. Well that's just not fair! Those puppy eyes are cheating! "Fine! But I bet you're just scared of losing!"
For some reason Touya was mad "I'm not! I've gotta get my catch back."
"Sureeeeee."
The bitch. Who the fuck did he think he was?! Touya's pride came to the forefront "I'm not scared!"
"oh really?" he had a smug smirk on his face. Touya wanted to wipe it off "Really!"
"Prove it! Try and catch me in the run."
"Fine!"
"Fine."
"OK!"
"Ok."
The omega looked even more smug ".......Wait-"
"K, see you in the run Mr alpha! Bye!"
"No wait-.... Aaaaand he's gone......."
"Your a fucking dumbass."
"...."
"Yeah that was a little dumb sir."
"......"

Touya still didn't quite know what happened. He usually is pretty sharp but apparently you put a cute omega in front of him and he has a single brain cell and it's on holiday. What's even worse is that Touya only realized that he was the one Kai wanted when he got back. Fucking Kai. Well at least Touya doesn't mind upsetting that son of a bitch. Touya really hates him.

The days till the run pass quickly. During the few days free most everyone of the alpha's get into little scuffles to show off and prove just how strong they are. Touya and Shouto win every time they get into these little fights.
On the 3rd day Touya wakes up extra early, just like everyone else, so he can get ready. He scrub himself extra clean so his sent was clear and strong. Then he mixed up some blue, red and orange body paint. He applied it to his jaw, around his eyes, across his shoulders then down onto his pecks then between them till it reaches his belly button and lastly around his wrists he swirls and drag the paint out so they look like flame. He has a big breakfast makeing sure he's filled up because he won't have time to stop while running. He stretched and sharpened his claws and fangs.
Touya wasn't stupid. He knew that the likely hood of him not getting into at least one fight is low. Extremely low. Like 1%. Kai will definitely wanna fight. Good. Touya is always ready to fight him. Some people would make traps but Touya wanted a specific omega and there was no guarantee that the one specific would run into the trap he made. Touya was a good runner he was good at tracking too. It shouldn't be too hard.
Well that's what he thinks until he catches a glimpse of the omega during the line up. The cheeky fucker has a yellow crescent moon in the middle of his chest! Of fucking COURSE he had to be Usagiyama. Why the fuck wouldn't he?
It's ok, he's got this! Sure Usagiyama omega's are different but Touya is sure he could beat him in an arm wrestling match. Noodle Arms. Cute noodle arms but noodle arms all the same. Judging from his confidence in his running skills Touya would say his special thing is that he's fast. Ok, Touya can compete with fast. Down here especially. Usagiyama are from the grasslands so they're use to this much air. Not to mention this run gose on for how ever long is needed unlike all others. Touya doesn't need to out run him but outlast. AND the omega is in heat. After a while even the most skilled omega's will have to stop because of the pain, even if only for an hour. Ruts don't do that, in fact they strengthen the natural Instinct to chase. Touya's biggest issue is other alpha's. Lucky his reputation precedes him and most wouldn't be so stupid as to try and fight him in a feral state. Those who do will learn their place.
each of the elders give a long winded speech and by the time they're done it's midday. Alpha's go first so they can find a den and gather nesting maritals. The signal for the count down is given.

Touya takes off.
The cold air slices his face and fills his ears. Running is easy down here. Touya follows the river. While the others split up and go deeper into the forest and away from the river Touya follows it. He wouldn't want to leave his new mate alone for too long so staying close to food and water is a must. Something everyone seems to forget, including Shouto if that red and white blur is him. Dumbass.
Touya finds the entrance to a pre-made den close to the water but not so much that there's risks of floods. It's also higher up but not on a full blown mountain. Inside there's even a hot spring! Touya is quick to mark this one as his. After makeing sure it is completely covered in his sent inside and out Touya sets of looking for nesting stuff. Touya has obviously never built a nest but he's pretty sure he got some good stuff. Well he supposed he'd find out. When he was finished Touya took a seat on top of the den. After adjusting his aching balls Touya focused on his nose. Closeing his eyes and takeing a deep breath in through his nose.
Alpha.
Alpha.
Alpha.
Alpha.
Omega!
Touya grined "vanilla and cocoa." he breathd. He took off once again.

Keigo was 23 and has been running since he was 16. 7 years and there hasn't been one worthy alpha. He was too fast, too smart for them. He always ran circles around those prideful alpha's. He'd run across tree branches, hide in bushes and literaly run circles around alph's.
It had been fun at first. Something to be proud of. But now it just made him lonely. Of course he has his pack but an omega will always want a mate. His pack just aren't the same. He'd thought about slowing down a few times but Rumi's disappointed face would flash in his mind and all of those thoughts would be gone as soon as they came. Anyway, he wants himself a strong alpha who can put strong pups in him! He definitely wouldn't just give in.
He'd been so excited when the elders invited his pack to the run. He and Rumi had spent hours gossiping about the other pack that would participate. She'd calmed that she was gonna make the strongest alpha her bitch, keigo had giggled at that. He had not doubt she would do just that. He however was looking forward to mabey being breed. He was hoping to get pregnant this run.When he arrived he just knew he was gonna leave with a mark on his neck and a pup in his womb.
All of the alpha's here smell like pure power. They looked like it too! His omega cheered. All of them where covered in muscle. They were all so big! He had looked over at Rumi only to find she was already walking off. She was gonna get herself killed one of these days, she had no sense of direction.
He knew he wasn't supposed to leave the den - too many omega's lured away and taken before the run even started - but he always sized up the alpha's. He wasn't about to stop now. So he whent to the woods, climbed the trees and watched them hunt.
He only found 3 alpha's he was interested in.
The first was blonde and had a scar down his four head. His name was Jin and he was very friendly. [He'd taken out two does. His technique was sloppy and the fragile creatures had been bruised up but still it was a good catch.] Keigo had challenged him to a race (he had seed it was for fun but it was actually a test). He'd said yes and lost but wasn't better about it, he congratulated keigo told him to be safe then whent about his day.
The second had been more precise in his hunting but his pack had helped too much for keigo's Likeing. Still he challenged him only for him to reply with "Why the fuck would I waste my time on some misbehaving omega bitch?" Keigo spent a whole 25 minutes chewing him out. The guy and his pack was stuned. Keigo stomped off angrily. What a dick.
The third had his pack with him too. [He and the alpha's he was leading boxed in a strong stag almost perfectly until clearly the most inexperienced alpha alerted the deer of his hiding place. Nobody moved fast enough. Well nobody but the leader. He'd rushed to the young alpha's rescue at speeds that could rival keigo. He's eyes had only just managed to keep up. The simple snap of it's neck wasn't unnecessarily cruel and cause the last amount of damage.] Keigo's omega was swooning. Then he opened his mouth and the most heavenly voice come out. It was deep, velvety and dripping with honey. When keigo got down to challenge him he was sure that he'd actually died and gone to heaven. He was so fucking tall 6'2 at least! He was built sturdy with impressive muscle but not overly so. And his sent! FUCK his sent, it was otherworldy. Like rose wood, roasted nuts and something earthy and spicy. Whatever it was keigo wanted to drown in it. As if keigo needed to be sold even more his face could rival a goods. He had such a sharp jaw, the prettiest blue eyes and just over all he screamed "PERFECT MATE". He'd refused keigo's challenge but with the help of good old-fashioned "I bet you're just scared" he agreed to chase keigo in the run.
The omega was very pleased with himself!
He proceeded to tell Rumi that he found the best alpha and he was gonna be chased by him.
Him and Rumi spent the rest of the free time sneaking out even though they aren't supposed to. On the 3rd day keigo took his time getting ready. After bathing he had Rumi paint red wings on his back (the design of the pack he was born into) and he put a yellow crescent moon in his chest to honer the Usagiyamas.
catching a glimpse of the alpha he wanted his jaw dropped when he saw he was from the Todoroki pack. No wonder he was so perfect! The current leader took over his birth pack a 18 then at 21 he took over a strong pack in the mountains that was called Himura. Due to the prominents of the markings he was probably a direct relative. Keigo was even more excited than before (and no, it wasn't just because his heat started this morning shut up).
He decided to stretch while the alphas fought over supplies and dens. Most of the other omega's were chatting amongst themselves. Keigo paid them no mind. He had to focus. And then they where told to run.

Keigo was a good runner. But damn! These alpha's where fast. He hadn't even gotten the chance to climb trees yet because he was too busy avoiding trap after trap and trying to ditch persistent alpha's. This would usualy make him happy but keigo had his eye on some else. That said someone was always close to, but keigo could never tell wear. He couldn't pinpoint his sent or see him bit he was there.
It was kinda frustrating but also exciting. He'd stayed true to his word! 'He wants us!' keigo's omega cooed.
Keigo jumped over another trap, this one triggered by tripwire. Then he slid out of the way of a brut of an alpha that tried to tackle him. The asshole, keigo would have been crushed!
After an hour of running keigo spotted the same dick of an alpha chasing him. The audacity! "Your majesty, are you sure you wanna chase a misbehaved omega bitch that isn't worth your time?!" keigo yells over his shoulder "Or perhaps you'll get someone else to do it!" the alpha growls but it's drowned out by a deep, velvety laugh. Keigo's heart flutters, he made his alpha laugh!
"Shut up bitch!"
"Wow, your such a gentleman! Really, I'm just soo taken with you!" more annoyed growls and laughter.
"Stop laughing Touya or I'll rip your throat out."
"It's funny how you say that Kai. I seem to remember you never being able to land a hit on me." the alph's - Touya's? - voice rings in keigo's ears and seems to be coming from all angles. How is he doing that? Dick alpha or Kai (keigo is gonna keep calling him dick alpha because it's funny) growls again. He's very growly. Keigo keeps running neither alpha's can quite catch up.
Touya doesn't say anything else and neither do the other two. They just keep running keigo just bearly avoiding capture. And before he knows it the sky is painted pink and orange.
Keigo is so out of breath by then. So fucking tired. He couldn't get one break! Not one because those alpha's just wouldn't give up! It was admirable really but also fucking exhausting. He'd never actually ran for this long without a break. And on top of that his heat is getting worse! Weakening and slowing him down while only motivateing the alpha's more.
Keigo still couldn't figure out were Touya is. Or why he isn't panting as hard as him and Kai. Then it hits him "This fucker was raised in the mountains!" Touya laugh filled keigo's ears once more "Stop fucking laughing you dick! That's so unfair!"
"Life isn't fair sunflower." the nickname makes keigo blush. What an ass.
Keigo's throat was burning, he shouldn't have yelled that only made it worse. His feet hurt so bad from running this long in the woods. He was panting, sweating and burning up. He kept having to power through his cramps and pretend he wasn't dripping slick. Was also attracting more alpha's. He's sent was progressively getting stronger and sweeter as time went on, he was like a bacon.
Keigo wimperd when an alpha appeared directly in front of him. 'Soo big!' his omega wines as fresh slick rolls down his thighs. He tries to steer out of the way but he trips on a wire and the next thing he knows he's trapped.
Keigo wines and paws at the net only succeeding in tangling himself more. Another alpha appears presumably the owner of the net.

So Touya's plan didn't quite go how he wanted. He had intended to just keep chasing till he took a break, he hadn't planned for so many others to want this omega too. Either way it didn't matter because he was gonna win. The omega was setting off all his protective instincts.
There are 5 alpha's not including him. They all take a defensive or offensive stance Touya opted for defensive. Bending his knees slightly and keeping his feet shoulder width apart, like this he won't be easy moved. He extends his sharpened claws and fangs. He's ready to use them at a moment's notice. He grows low and dangerous.
The guy that made the net moved first. He made a run for the net. What a coward trying to grab the omega and leave without even earning it. The buff man that appeared just before the coward tackled him to the ground. He then proceeds to beat the shit out of him. The only girl charges at Touya who slashes her across the face with his claw. She raws in pain before lunging again. Touya catches the punch she throws but then she returns the favour. It's then a game of push and shove. Next to them the buff alpha and Kai attack one another.
Touya growls and snarls as he fights to over power the woman. She's strong mabey even stronger than Touya but rut is taking bigger tole on Touya then her. He's full of adrenaline and less winded. Slowly oh so slowly Touya overpowers her. He pushes her onto her back with a growl. She bucks her hips almost succeeded in makeing Touya lose his balance but Touya snaps one of her wrists stopping her atemps to free her. Touya dislocates her shoulder for good measure before getting up. And turning his attention to the other fight ignoring keigo's whimpers and pleas.
Kai has his claws deep in the buff alpha's stomach. He grows and pulls his bloody claw out "Disgusting, I hate getting my hands dirty." he grumbled as his opponent drops to the ground "Why can't you just kill normally? Why must it be in the most painful way possible?"
"Shut up, unless you wish to surrender."
"Bring it on!" Touya moves first only because Kai will never do that. Touya faints a punch and instead lands a heavy kick to the side. Kai's counter misses Touya by an inch. Touya grabs his wrist and forces him to spin and turn his back on Touya. Touya twists his arm up he back it'll it popped out of its socket. He let's out a pained hiss when Kai's elbow hits him in the face. Out of spite Touya then he kicked Kai in the lower back and let's go. He fell face first into the ground. Touya breaks his ankle to make sure he can't get up.
Huffing, out of breath not Touya makes his way over to the net. Only to find it empty. Touya raws frustrated. Fucking really?! After all that?! REALLY?!?
He's still close but Touya can't see him. Where the fuck is he?!!! It's really getting dark now but Touya can still see fine so where is the fucking omega!? Out of frustration Touya punches the tree in front of him takeing off a good chunk of wood.
Someone squeaks.
Touya freezes. He can't be. He can't! There is no way he climbed this tree while so out of it and full of heat. He couldn't have. Slowly Touya's eyes trail up the tree until they meet a pear of familiar gold eyes "....son of a BITCH! HOW THE FUCK DID- GET- MOTHERFUCKING-" Touya takes a deep breath. This is fine. Except it's not. It's not because this is bullshit! Complete and utter bullshit!
Ok think Touya. What do you do?
And then it hits him.......beat the shit out of the tree! So that's what he does. He punches the tree over and over until it breaks. The omega makes a jump just as it falls, he tries to reach the other tree but missed it. Touya has to dive on to the ground to break his fall. Touya grunts in pain.
~♥~Of course the omega tries to run but Touya isn't having it. He grabs hold of the omega's thick thighs and pulls him to the ground roughly. Touya pins his wrists and snarls. He isn't going anywhere after Touya literaly punched a tree to the ground for him! No. Nope. Touya doesn't move even when he bucks his hips, squirms and does his best to wiggle free. Touya holds his wrists with one hand and the other pushed the fox pelts out of his way. He then moves his own bear skin as well. He's been hard this whole time so this part is easy. Fuck, he smells delicious! Kai calls out for him to stop and Touya ignores him. Instead he pushes into the omega in one fluid motion and moans at how tight he is. The omega screams from the stretch. Touya thrust forward once and growls. 'Mine' Touya's alpha demands. ~♥~
Tears welled in his beautiful eyes and Touya softens. He cooed softly at him and let's go of his wrists. Opting to instead cup his cheeks. He's so soft! Touya feels like he shouldn't be allowed to touch someone so soft and precious. His hands are to ruff, he might scratch him "It's ok, shh shh I've got you omega. It's alright."
"K-keigo."
"Hmm?"
"My, my name is keigo."
"Hello keigo" he pauses to appreciate the way the name rolls off his tongue and the omegas sent brightens with happiness "I'm Touya, it's nice to meet you."
keigo purrs when Touya pulls out and lifts him up easily do he can begin to cary him to the den.
