Work Text:
For Jean Gunnhildr-Minci, the Dandelion Knight, mornings began very early. Waking up around sunrise, she would wander around Mondstadt and watch the dark sky light up with the colors of dawn and listen to the sweet songs of daybreak carried by azure winds. But, this day was different. Opening her eyes to the sun already filtering through her windows, panic rose through her chest. How long was she sleeping? Glancing at the grand clock resting against their wall, the panic eased.
"Not too late to get things done. The sun probably only came up a bit ago, I'd assume... But..."
Jean gazed at the woman who she proudly called her wife who was sleeping by her side, Lisa.
"I need to break her habit of sleeping in so much... It isn't healthy."
Gently placing a hand on Lisa's shoulder, Jean spoke in a soft, loving voice.
"Lisa? My rose, we should be getting up soon... Klee has been wanting to travel around Mondstadt as a family, and there are many things to be done. Would you please wake up?" Jean only heard a mumble in response as her wife turned over in her sleep, pulling the blankets further over her, wrapped in a sort of cocoon of warmth that had slowly come unraveled.
"As beautiful as my dear wife is, she isn't what you would call a 'beautiful dreamer'." Jean thought with a quiet sigh, as she lightly shook Lisa.
"Lisa, are you awake?... Love?"
After much more prodding, Jean saw those gorgeous emerald eyes open, Lisa looking up at her with a loving gaze. Yet again, despite looking so beautiful, seeing her sprawled out on their bed with her hair disheveled and her golden nightgown bunched up against her legs was rather comedic.
"Oh, my... Good morning, my darling dandelion~ Did you need me?" Lisa smiled lovingly, tenderly placing a hand on Jean's cheek which she felt quickly burn up with heat at the words leaving Lisa's mouth.
"My... darling dandelion? I... Ah..." Jean stuttered, flustered.
"You'd think my Jean would get better about this after we were wed, and the fact that our cute little Klee is practically our child. But she never changes. How adorable!" Lisa simply giggled at her wife's embarrassment, kissing Jean on the cheek, further embarrassing the golden-haired knight.
"I... Um..." Jean cleared her throat, attempting to regain her composure. "I was hoping you would wake up earlier with me today. I was thinking we could, ah... Take Klee out to breakfast together? And spend an evening together as a couple... I've asked Amber to babysit already, and I double checked my list of tasks last night, and after we eat breakfast I'll check it again and do any tasks asked of m--" Lisa sighed with another small giggle, cutting off her wife's words with a sudden kiss.
"You worry too much, my dandelion. Please just let yourself relax for once, okay? We can spend a few hours doing everything you want-- and that includes doing nothing. Then we'll do what you've planned, alright?" Lisa could see the wheels turning in her wife's head at the mere thought of the Dandelion Knight simply 'doing nothing'. Such a hard worker, but sometimes too much of one. She had even grown ill from overworking herself before, which further convinced Lisa of the notion of her wife being too stubborn for her own good.
Jean's mind made even relaxing as a family a difficult task due to the burden that rested on her shoulders, but Lisa understood.
Lisa hugged her tightly with a gentle smile, kissing her on the forehead. It seems it was too early in the morning to protest, because Jean simply nodded and spoke.
"Mhm. So... we'll do nothing, for a bit." Lisa responded by lightly grabbing the blankets that had half-fallen off the bed and sitting down, wrapping the pair in the blankets. Jean had softened into the warmth of her wife's body, simply taking in the smell of her wife's rose-scented perfume and quietly gazing at her. Lisa raised a hand up to stroke Jean's hair, humming a small tune that Barbara had once taught her, saying that Jean enjoyed hearing it when wanting to feel calm.
Eventually, Jean's soft humming along faded out as she fell asleep against her wife's shoulder. Lisa planted a small kiss on her forehead with a loving smile.
"Guess this really is a morning of doing nothing, hm?... Sleep well, my darling dandelion. Today will be a beautiful day for the both of us."
