Summary
A visitor comes to Button House: his grandmother has passed away, and in her attic, he has found an old diary of hers spanning years. In it, he has found that her brother, a Captain, was posted here during WW2.
Meanwhile, the Captain is left reeling. His sister is dead. Her diary has been examined by a boy who has already drawn his own conclusions about what he has read, and is sitting in their kitchen revealing them to Alison.
Having certain details of his life disclosed to the people who don’t even know his name, but also know him so well, might just give him the opportunity to bare his soul a bit more, on his own terms. -
