Work Text:
Touya breathed steady, the pillow soft under his head, dreams incoherent and full of baby laughter.
He was roused awake by the feeling of lips on his face. Hawks was pecking kisses on his face, forehead, cheek, and hair. He waved his hand in the general direction of the kisses and heard a warm chuckle. “Wake up sleeping beauty.”
"Not all of us are the literal sun, 5 more minutes." He grumbled, burying his face into the pillow.
He squawked when hawks shaped him on the ass. "Fuck you!"
Hawks ran out the room while laughing. He dodged the pillow Touya threw after him. With a huff he got up.
He stretched away the last bits of sleep and left their room, tossing his pillow back onto the messy bed.
He passed into the bathroom and made quick work of brushing his teeth and washing his face.
In the next room he could hear movement and smiled slightly. So the baby was up.
He quickly went to her room. Turning on the light there she was sitting up in her crib looking around, when she saw him she blew bubbles with her mouth and started bouncing, arms raised. He smiled, heart warm. He felt lucky she was as much an early bird as her Dad.
He cooed as he lifted her out of the elephant themed crib and set her on his hip.
"Good morning baby, someone is up early this morning." He kissed her head. Her bright red wisps of hair were messy from sleep, as she grabbed at him.
He laided her down on her back, carful of her wing nubs for a quick diaper change and they left
her jungle themed room.
Hawks was placing some eggs and toast down on the table, coffee, well more creamer than coffee, already sat next his seat at the table.
Hawks face light up at the sight of the baby and he took her from Touya.
"Good morning Homura, baby flame," he lifted her and blew a raspberry on her stomach, causing the infant to giggle.
Touya watched the scene play out as he looked through the kitchen. His husband had already soaked some cheerios and readied the bottle. He felt that familiar little spark of gratitude as he scooped some cheerios into a pink plastic bowl.
Hawks had placed the baby in her highchair.
They moved like clockwork, wordlessly passing around the food and settling in to eat.
Touya munched on his food, enjoying watching Hawks eat his seed bar and place soggy cheerios on Homura's feeding tray. She made the cutest little noises as she grabbed at the food with chubby hands and stuffed her face, chewing with her one tooth.
He watched Hawks make ridiculous over-exaggerated eating faces at her and watched her giggle and try to grab at his face with her little wet hands.
Touya chuckled. He loves mornings like this, slow and quiet. With the recent uptick in major Hawks would already be gone by the time he woke up. Touya knew how busy a hero was, his father also being a hero, but before having their little girl Touya and Hawks agreed that time with the family would take president over regular patrol hours. Sure enough, bearing an emergency his husband had held firm to his word and was very active in their girl's life.
Hawks' phone buzzed and he slipped it out of his pocket to peek at the message.
He frowned as he wiped at Homura's face. And she grabbed onto his hand, giggling.
"They're calling you in," Touya said.
"Ya, it's about time I head out, " he said sadly.
Touya noticed Hawk's eyes not leaving the baby and smiled a bit. "How about you wash her while I put your lunch together and she can have her bottle after that."
Hawks light up and Touya chuckled. He scooped her up and took her to the sink to wash her in the little bath they have set up in it.
Touya goes through the cabinets, placing Hawks' usual lunch into a bag to take to work.
He watched out of the corner of his eye as his ridiculous husband blew a raspberry on Homoras stomach and promptly got slashed in the face from her wagging arms.
He went to her room. He opened her closet door to reveal the horde of baby clothes they had amassed from family and friends. It was an obscene amount of clothes. Touya grabbed the closest onesie, this one with a unicorn pattern, her diapers, and wipes, and went back to the living room, Hawks was already drying her off, babbling at her.
"K babe, you'll be home for dinner?" Touya asked.
"Definitely," he went to hand her over to Touya but Homura could tell her dad was leaving as she started getting fussy, leaning back toward Hawks. "Aw baby, daddy will miss you too." He cooed and she replied with a sad coo of her own.
Touya took Homura over to the livingroom changing mat, his best friend, and got her changed, tisking at her squiggles.
He heard the door open and popped his head up. "Hawks wait."
He stood at the open front door, coat on and bags in hand.
"You're forgetting something," Touya said, taking Homura in his arms he went to Hawks and gave him a quick peck.
"Have a good day, hero. Be careful ok?" He said voice low he held Homura tight. As much as he tried he was always a little anxious seeing Hawks leave, knowing how dangerous his job was.
The man gave him his signature cocky smile. "I'm always careful. I'll always come back to you both. I promise." And with that, he left.
Touya smiled and walked back into the living room turned baby play cage. He placed her on the floor in front of the TV and got her bottle from the kitchen. He watched her carefully as she drank, already starting to fall back asleep.
"Morning nap time already? You get so lazy after you eat, just like your daddy." Touya said, gently pushing back Homura's hair as she finished her bottle, eyelids
