Chapter Text
Shouto wasn’t really good with small talk. Of course, since his years in UA, he was more approachable, though it still was rare for him to start a conversation. This led to him just being in the lunchroom of his hero company, listening to others talk around him, and him being completely satisfied.
“WOW, HOW THE HELL DID YOU MANAGE TO GO ON A DATE WITH SOMEONE LIKE THAT!”
Shouto turned his head over to two of his employees. One of them was wearing shock all over his face while the other held his phone out for the other to see. He wore a nervous smile on his face. Shouto knew the latter one personally.
His name was Kayo Kagawa. He was a year older than Shouto, coming from the same high school. Even though he was older, Shouto topped him as a hero straight away. Even then, Kayo was still a great hero. It was clear how he acted with everyone. He didn’t really care about rank much.
“Ah, remember when I had to go to the hospital last mission? She was my nurse.”
Kayo felt eyes on him, spotting Shouto looking at him. In response, he smiled at his boss.
“Hello, Mr. Todoroki. You alright?”
Shouto nodded his head.
“Are you going on a date?”
“Yep! I’m kind of nervous. She could honestly do much better than me.”
Kayo pulled his phone away from his friend and went to show Shouto. When Shouto looked at the girl, his breath got caught.
You were beautiful.
You weren’t in daily clothing. It was clear that Kayo took a picture of you while working at the hospital. Your hair was in a ponytail with a few stray hairs sticking out. Your scrubs were blue, and you had a white undershirt scrunched to your elbows. You had your arms crossed, and you were looking at the surgical board. It was obvious that you didn’t know you just got your picture taken. Shouto cleared his throat, trying to think of something else.
“Does she know that you have a picture of her?”
Kayo chuckled nervously.
“Well, not at first, but I ended up telling her about it.”
Flashback
Kayo was about to be discharged and was relieved and sad about it. Relieve so that he could go back to the work that he loved so much. Sad because he knew that he wouldn’t see you as often. He took a peek out of his room and saw you standing right outside. You looked beautiful, so focused on your next task for the day. He couldn’t help himself. He took his phone and aimed the camera at you, taking a picture. He looked at the picture and felt the blood rush to his cheeks. Then Kayo realized what he did.
‘CRAP, I TOOK IT WITHOUT HER PERMISSION.’
He was going to delete it but was having a hard time doing so. He sighed and sat back down on his bed. His head perked up, though, when he heard a knock at his door, seeing you enter the room.
“Are you alright, Mr. Kagawa?”
Kayo’s cheeks started to burn, during dark red.
“Ah yeah, just going to miss being here.”
Kayo’s ears perked up when he heard you laugh. ‘
Wow, how the hell does her laugh sound like silk?’
He watched you calm down a little before responding.
“ I have a hard time believing that. No one likes staying in a hospital.”
He chuckled at what you said and decided to show you the photo he took while being smooth as fuck.
“ Well, I do. Especially with an angel taking care of me.”
You turned your head for him to elaborate but stopped when you saw the photo he took, implying that you were the angel. Your cheeks turned pink with his compliment, trying to bite back a smile from your lips. You looked at Kayo, seeing him smirk slightly before shaking his head and smiling.
“Don’t worry. I’ll delete it. In front of you if it makes you feel better.”
Kayo was finally about to push the delete button before you spoke out to him.
“ It’s okay.”
Kayo looked up from his phone, bewildered. He saw you smile before talking.
“Just don’t do something illegal with that picture.”
Kayo smiled at the memory.
“Anyway, she said she doesn’t date patients, so I had to wait a week to ask her out finally. I got so lucky that she remembered me.”
Shouto watched his coworker with interest and jealousy, though what could he do about it. He never met you, and it wasn’t like it was the end of the world. He gave Kayo back his phone before getting up to leave.
“Good luck on your date, Kawaga.”
