Chapter 1: Step 0: realisation
Chapter Text
If you asked Klee, Albedo is the best looking in the entire Mondstadt — no, the entire Teyvat!
He has very pretty eyes, they’re blue, like the lakes Klee enjoys bombing for fish! Unless Master Jean is around, then they’re just the lakes Klee likes to sit next to for no reason at all.
And his hair is so soft! Albedo likes to tie it into a little ponytail, but when Klee tries to help him, it never ends up as nice as when he does it himself… he says that he likes the hairstyle Klee gave him, but Klee likes his usual hairstyle more. Well, maybe Klee should work harder, so that Albedo gets a hairstyle that is fitting for him!
Of course, Albedo is also really smart! He’s always doing funny experiments, and although that means he can’t play with Klee, Klee doesn’t mind waiting when it’s for Albedo!
But recently, Klee has begun to notice that she’s not the only one who really likes Albedo. When Miss Mona comes over to talk about funny things again, she’s always very interested in what Albedo has to say. And Albedo is always drawing out cool scenes from that Liyue writer’s books.
But the person who seems to take the most interest in Albedo is Calvary Captain Kaeya. Klee thinks Kaeya is the best! He always helps her when she gets in trouble with Master Jean, and he even wrote the Favonius Survival Rulebook for her.
But sometimes Klee sees Kaeya talking to Albedo, and Albedo will turn red and walk away really fast. Of course, because it’s Albedo, the red isn’t very obvious, and his run is not actually very fast, because Albedo is very graceful and would never run away! It’s only because Klee knows Albedo the best that she knows that he is running away. Although, if Kaeya is being mean to Albedo, Klee will have no choice but to be on Albedo’s side, because Albedo is her big brother and is the best!
With her mind made up, Klee gets up to go to find Kaeya, before remembering that she’s currently in solitary confinement for bombing the lake again. It’s not her fault crabs have such complicated shells!
The next day, when Master Jean finally releases her with another warning, Klee decides not to work on making her next treasure, and instead goes to find Kaeya. He’s actually pretty easy to find, because he dresses very fancy, and he’s very tall. He’s sitting at a table at Good Hunter, and Klee belatedly releases that she hasn’t had lunch yet.
The tapping of her boots must make a lot of noise, because Kaeya is turning to face Klee before she reaches him. He’s very nice, though, because he helps her take her bag to put it on the seat next to him, and he even makes sure not to crush Dodoco!
“Klee? What’s up?” Kaeya smiles. At first, Klee wants to tell him about her new plan to bury her next treasure in Wolvendom, before she remembers her original plan. She has a job to do! No one is allowed to be mean to Albedo!
“Are you being mean to Albedo?” Klee demands. Kaeya’s eyes widen for a fraction of a second before he schools his face into a more comical version of shock, with a hand on his chest and everything.
“What makes you think that, Klee? I would never be mean to Albedo.” Kaeya says. He clearly senses that this is an important conversation, because he pulls out a chair for Klee to climb into, and hands her a plate so that she can share some of his Fisherman’s Toast. He refuses to let her share some of his drink, though, which is really sad because it has a leaf in it and looks so pretty!
Wait, Klee forgot the original intention of this conversation.
“But sometimes you make Albedo turn red and run away!” Klee complains. Kaeya is clearly trying to bribe her with food, and Klee will not let that happen! She is not so easily swayed! This toast is really good though…
“Oh? Do tell me more, Klee.” Kaeya’s smiling at her now. Klee doesn’t like it. It feels like he knows something she doesn’t. She takes a petulant bite of her slice of Fisherman’s Toast, but makes sure to swallow before she speaks. It’s good manners, Master Jean said so.
“Well, I see you talking to Albedo around Mondstadt sometimes! Then when you lean in really close, or say something weird, he will turn red, then run away! Then when he goes back to his lab he doesn’t have time to play with Klee, because he will be drawing pictures of you.”
Kaeya looks enthralled by this confession, muttering weird things like ‘that’s his version of blushing?’ and ‘I didn’t even know that counts as running away’. Klee doesn’t understand what that means, so she ignores it and focuses on eating. It’s clearly Kaeya being a weird adult.
“You said he draws pictures of me?” Kaeya questions again. It seems like instead of Klee questioning Kaeya, he’s questioning her instead. But Klee loves talking about Albedo, so it’s fine.
“Yes! He has a lot of tiny Kaeyas in his sketchbook. I can draw one for you right now!” When he hears Klee’s offer, Kaeya immediately reaches into her bag to pull out her sketchbook and some crayons, even though she didn’t ask him to yet. He’s oddly enthusiastic about seeing Albedo’s drawings. But Albedo’s drawings are the best, so Klee forgives him.
Since Albedo likes drawing so much, Klee decided she likes drawing too! And Albedo even got her a small sketchbook that can fit into her bag, because he’s the best!
“One for the head… one for the eyepatch string… one for the eyepatch…” Klee mutters to herself. That’s what Albedo said, right? Only three strokes!
Kaeya on the other hand, looks devastated by what Klee drew. Klee frowns. She knows Albedo is better at drawing than her, but he said that she was improving! He has some of her best drawings on the board in his lab! Why does Kaeya look so upset?
“This is how he sees me? Oh, I’m doomed.” Kaeya is whispering to himself. He takes a big gulp of the drink he won’t let Klee have, then plants his face into his hands. Klee is just confused. Kaeya wanted to see the drawing Albedo does of him! Klee recreated it perfectly! Grown ups are so weird.
“Does he say anything about me?” Kaeya asks her a bit urgently. Klee thinks back to her last conversation with Albedo. It was before her great idea to bomb the fishes in the lake, and she got put into solitary confinement.
“He said you should cover up more!” Klee says cheerfully. She pokes the open hole in Kaeya’s shirt. Doesn’t he get cold? Why is he wearing a furry jacket over his shoulder if he could use it to cover the hole in his shirt?
Kaeya clearly doesn’t see the issue, because he looks offended at the suggestion. Albedo has the best fashion, though, so Klee thinks Kaeya should take his advice.
Wait! Kaeya wanted to see Albedo’s drawing of him, and wanted to know if Albedo said anything about him. Obviously there’s only one conclusion Klee can draw from this…
“Do you have a crush on Albedo?” Klee asks innocently. Kaeya looks at her, horrified.
“Where did you learn that?”
“Miss Lisa read a funny book to me once as a bedtime story! The prince had a crush on the princess, so he wanted to know more about her.” Klee says. Miss Lisa was the best! No one had read such an interesting book to her before. Kaeya is talking to himself again, saying things like ‘of course it was Lisa’, and ‘at least it was sfw’. Klee doesn’t know what ‘sfw’ stands for. Maybe she’ll ask Albedo later.
“I think Albedo has a crush on you too!” Klee says, because she knows Albedo best after all, and she’s always right about Albedo! Kaeya gives her a look that tells her that he doesn’t agree, but Kaeya doesn’t know Albedo as well as Klee.
“I can help you date him!” Klee is confident about her decision. It can’t be that difficult, right? In the story Miss Lisa read to her, all the prince had to do was give the princess a gift in a romantic location, and confess! Although, Kaeya and Albedo are both boys… maybe Albedo can be the princess, because he has blond hair like her! Or maybe they can both be princes, it doesn’t matter to Klee.
Now that Klee knows Kaeya wasn’t being mean to Albedo, he just made Albedo shy, she approves of Kaeya dating him. Albedo looks sad sometimes, and even though Klee tries her best to make him happy, she thinks it’ll be even better if he had someone else to make him happy too! And Kaeya definitely makes Albedo happy, which is all that Klee wants.
Kaeya is still cursing every known person under his breath, so Klee assumes he agrees. It’s a great plan! And, it won’t make Master Jean angry at her again, because she’s helping people!
Klee grabs her bag and leaves Kaeya at the table, because he’s ordering more of the funny drink with the leaf, and Klee isn’t allowed to drink that. That’s okay. She needs to go find Miss Sucrose for the first step of the plan, after all.
Chapter 2: Step 1: gifts
Summary:
The first step of Klee’s two-step plan to get Albedo to date Kaeya is to find a romantic gift that Kaeya can give Albedo! Gifts are super romantic, but Klee doesn’t know much about romance. Maybe Miss Sucrose can help her...

Chapter Text
Miss Sucrose screams when Klee calls her name from behind. Klee knows Miss Sucrose is very shy, so Klee usually tries to not to creep up on her, but this is important! When she saw Miss Sucrose exiting her lab, Klee knew she had to take the opportunity to talk to Miss Sucrose, because Miss Sucrose has very strict play times. If she doesn’t act now, Miss Sucrose’s play time will be up and she will have to go back to work.
“Klee? What are you doing here by yourself?” Miss Sucrose says, once she sees that it’s just Klee and not a monster. Not that she needs to be worried, because Miss Sucrose is very powerful, and with Klee’s bombs, they would have no trouble at all!
“What gift would Albedo like?” Klee asks curiously. Miss Sucrose looks a little confused.
“You want to give Mister Albedo a gift? But you know him very well, Klee, why would you ask me?” Miss Sucrose says, tilting her head. This is why Klee thinks Miss Sucrose is the best! Her ears are very cute, like Dodoco, and she knows that Klee knows Albedo very well and doesn’t need to be babied!
“But this time I want the gift to be romantic!” Klee explains. Miss Sucrose immediately squeaks and turns very red. Oh no, maybe Miss Sucrose doesn’t have a lot of experience in romance either…
“Why… do you need it to be romantic?” Miss Sucrose asks. Her face has become the same shade of red as Klee’s backpack. Well, Klee should have done more explaining, so that Miss Sucrose can help her with the plan!
“Kaeya has a crush on Albedo!” Klee announces. Miss Sucrose’s eyes grow so big Klee is a bit worried they will fall out of her face. Did Miss Sucrose not know about it? Klee does have the most knowledge about Albedo, but she knows that Albedo is also very close to Miss Sucrose. Miss Sucrose might not know much about Kaeya though, unlike Klee, who often has play dates with him.
“So the gift is for Captain Kaeya to give to Mister Albedo?” Miss Sucrose questions. Klee beams. Of course Miss Sucrose would understand! Miss Sucrose is the best, and knows what Klee is thinking without Klee having to explain much!
Klee nods enthusiastically, and Miss Sucrose’s face lights up in understanding. She pulls out her notebook, eyebrows furrowed in thought as she scans whatever she has written on the pages.
“Well, flowers are romantic… but for someone like Mister Albedo, they would have to be special…” Miss Sucrose is muttering to herself. Klee doesn’t know much about romance, but she can tell Miss Sucrose is taking this very seriously, which further proves that she is the best. Miss Sucrose goes back into her lab, and comes out with some Sweet Flowers.
“I just finished my latest batch of Extra-Sweet Sweet Flowers… Mister Albedo has seen them before, when I asked him to help monitor my experiment. Though, I have yet to show him the various products I was able to produce from their nectar…” Miss Sucrose says, inspecting the batch of flowers she brought out. Klee doesn’t really understand the science talk, so she waits patiently for Miss Sucrose to finish thinking to explain it to her.
“Here, these are special Sweet Flowers. I also have a jar of syrup I made from the Sweet Flowers.” Miss Sucrose finally says, and hands Klee the bunch of flowers and a small glass jar. Miss Sucrose is amazing! Albedo deserves nothing but the best, so of course normal Sweet Flowers that Klee can find anywhere aren’t going to be good enough. Miss Sucrose thought of that, and made them extra-extra-special!
“Oh, but you should find some pretty ribbons to tie them together, so they’ll look nicer.” Miss Sucrose says. Klee’s eyes widen. She hadn’t thought of that! Miss Sucrose doesn’t seem to have any ribbons, so Klee will have to look elsewhere for some, but that’s okay! Klee is nothing but hardworking after all!
“Thank you so much, Miss Sucrose!” Klee bows, not forgetting her manners. Miss Sucrose turns red and quickly waves her away. Miss Sucrose is so humble! Klee will definitely go to her for her next treasure projects in the future.
“Why does the cloud of despair hang over Thou so, humble subject? Does Thou require assistance from the Prinzessin der Verurteilung?” Klee hears a grand voice from behind her. She quickly turns around to see Miss Fischl from the Adventurers’ Guild standing behind her.
Klee hasn’t talked to Miss Fischl often, because she’s usually in solitary confinement, and Miss Fischl is too busy completing commissions from the Adventurers’ Guild, but it seems like this is one of the rare times their schedules are aligned.
“Mein Fräulein means to ask if there is anything she can help with.” The purple bird beside her explains. Klee gasps in shock. Her bird speaks! That is so cool! Imagine if she was able to build a treasure that looked like Dodoco and could speak… and he worked as her translator!
Miss Fischl is clearly from a faraway land, because she is dressed funny and she speaks funny. Maybe she is a princess! A real life princess! Klee needs to talk to her more often.
“Thank you for offering, Miss Fischl! Do you have any pretty ribbons?” Klee asks, not forgetting her manners. Since Miss Fischl offered to help, Klee will take the opportunity.
Miss Fischl strikes a funny pose, all dramatic with her hands flying everywhere. Her eye even glows purple! Because she only has one eye exposed like Kaeya, it makes her look very cool! Klee has never met anyone like Miss Fischl before. It’s amazing!
“Oz, inform the little one about the mountain of riches back in our homeland!” Miss Fischl declares. Klee doesn’t understand what she is saying at all, and it’s making her head hurt, so she turns to the bird — Mister Oz? — for translation.
“Klee, she has many different ribbons for you to choose from at her house. You may pick any one you like.” Mister Oz says. Miss Fischl is the best! Even though she says funny things that Klee doesn’t understand, she is clearly a very nice person. Klee will send her a Jumpy Dumpty as a present! Master Jean says it’s good to give a thank-you present to people who help her.
Klee happily follows Miss Fischl to her house, which looks very normal for a princess from a faraway land. Maybe she has a castle in her real home! Klee would love to follow her back home, but Miss Fischl doesn’t seem to want to talk about her homeland much. Maybe she’s homesick… oh no, that makes Klee sad. Klee should befriend her, so that Miss Fischl will have friends in Mondstadt too!
“You can pick a ribbon, Klee.” Mister Oz says kindly as Miss Fischl dramatically throws open her bedside drawer. It looks similar to the ones Klee has at home, and she feels sorry for Miss Fischl to have to live with simple drawers when she could have much cooler ones in her real home!
Inside the drawer are a bunch of different ribbons carefully rolled up next to each other. Every ribbon has a different colour and pattern, and some of them even have sparkles, which makes them look like Klee’s treasures right before they explode!
Klee really wants to pick one of those pretty red ones to match Dodoco… but the present is for Albedo, so Klee chooses a pretty blue one with snowflakes, because Kaeya has a cryo vision, and he wears blue! That way, Albedo will definitely know that the present came from Kaeya, even though Klee is helping him pick it out.
“Thank you very much, Miss Fischl!” Klee yells, and bows, the ribbon gripped tightly in her hands. Miss Fischl goes red all over before she dramatically flips her hair to cover her face. Mister Oz sighs beside her.
“She says that you’re welcome, Klee. Have a safe journey home.” Mister Oz says, because Miss Fischl is suddenly very shy and doesn’t want to face Klee, which is alright! Klee appreciates her help today, and will definitely send her a gift later!
As Klee is walking from Miss Fischl’s house to the Knights of Favonius headquarters, she sees Bennett and Razor walking together. Oh! Bennett and Razor are the best! Klee didn’t know that they knew each other, but Klee knows both of them, so she quickly runs over to say hello.
“Klee!” Bennett shouts excitedly. He runs over to give her a hug, but almost trips down the stairs before Razor shoots a hand out to stable him. Klee runs over to hug him instead, because Bennett is very nice to Klee and he deserves all the hugs in the world! She doesn’t forget to hug Razor afterwards though, because Razor is one of her best friends, and he deserves all the hugs in the world too!
“What is… Klee doing?” Razor says, tilting his head to the side. He looks like the puppies Klee sometimes sees around Mondstadt! Razor may be older than her, but he’s very cute!
“I was looking for a gift for Albedo! But Miss Sucrose and Miss Fischl helped me, so now I’m going back to the Knights of Favonius headquarters.” Klee explains. When Klee mentions Albedo, Bennett lights up.
“Oh! If you’re giving stuff to Albedo, can you help deliver this artifact?” Bennett pulls a sparkly thing out of his pocket, and hands it over to Klee. It sparkles in Klee’s hand, and it looks very important, so she quickly puts it into her bag where it will be safe. “We found it while adventuring in Wolvendom the other day, and wanted to know if it was anything interesting.”
“Bennett… fell into hole. Razor helped. Found this.” Razor says slowly. At the mention of him falling, Bennett groans and stretches his arm, where Klee can see he has a bunch of bruises. Bennett is always falling into places, which makes Klee worried for him. But Bennett is a great adventurer! He never gives up, and he’s very fun to explore with!
“I’ll give it to Albedo for you! But it has to be after Miss Sucrose’s gift, or Albedo will ignore the flowers to look at this instead.” Klee says. She knows Albedo the best, and Albedo is much more interested in sparkly complicated things than flowers and ribbons. But flowers are much more romantic! So Klee can’t give this to him until he agrees to date Kaeya!
“Alright! Thanks, Klee!” Bennett cheers. He looks so happy jumping up and down that Klee has to join in, the two of them jumping up and down together while Razor watches in confusion. They only stop when Bennett’s shoelaces suddenly come undone and he almost trips and falls again, but Razor saves him.
Klee really doesn’t understand why the universe seems to hate Bennett so much. She’ll just have to keep making treasures to blow his bad luck up! Maybe one day she’ll make a Jumpy Dumpty big enough that Bennett won’t be unlucky anymore, and then he’ll be able to find more treasures with her!
Klee waves goodbye to Bennett and Razor, who are going back to their adventure in Wolvendom. Then, she continues her trek up to the Knights of Favonius headquarters. She has to meet with Miss Lisa for a very important mission — the second step of her plan!

Chapter 3: Step 1.5: permission

Chapter Text
When Klee finally reaches the outside of the Knights of Favonius headquarters, she sees a familiar figure exiting the doors.
“Hello, Klee.” Miss Noelle says. She’s carrying a bunch of heavy-looking boxes, but she’s not even sweating! Klee doesn’t talk to Miss Noelle much, but she seems to be very nice. Miss Noelle always works hard as a maid, and she always treats Klee kindly, even when Klee is put into solitary confinement! Plus, the outside of her dress has armour! That’s really cool!
“Hello, Miss Noelle!” Klee yells back, and bows in greeting. Miss Noelle smiles at her and carefully sets the boxes down so she can talk to Klee properly.
“What are you doing here, Klee? You don’t have to be in solitary confinement today.” Miss Noelle says. Miss Noelle is so cool! She even remembers when Klee has to be in solitary confinement. Although, that may just be because Klee landed the both of them in solitary confinement together once…
But Klee knows that Miss Noelle’s dream is to be part of the Knights! Since Miss Noelle works so hard, she’ll definitely become a knight in no time! Klee will throw a giant party to congratulate her when that happens!
“I’m here to talk to Miss Lisa. I need her help!” Klee explains. Miss Noelle makes an 'oh' sound and nods in understanding.
“I see! Have fun, Klee.” Miss Noelle says, but just as she starts to pick up the boxes, they both hear someone scream from above.
“Look out!”
Leaping into action, Miss Noelle quickly jumps in front of Klee just in time to catch Amber, who crash lands into Miss Noelle. Wow! Miss Noelle’s reaction time was amazing! If it weren’t for her, Amber would have fallen straight onto Klee!
“I’m so sorry! Oh, Noelle, Klee, are you guys alright?” Amber says frantically, but it’s a bit difficult to take her seriously when Miss Noelle is carrying her like she weighs nothing. Klee thinks Amber is the best! Baron Bunny is super cute, and it even explodes! Anything that explodes is the best in Klee’s books.
But Klee has to admit that Amber has many, many, many flying accidents. Amber is great at flying, but she always flies too fast, and then Master Jean has to scold her and take away her flying license. Maybe one day Amber will fly so fast that Master Jean will put her in solitary confinement alongside Klee! Then they can make exploding Jumpy Dumptys together!
“I’m okay!” Klee says, because she is, thanks to Miss Noelle. Amber looks super relieved, and quickly jumps out of Miss Noelle's hold to dust herself off and pull off her flying goggles.
"Thank goodness! I should stop flying over the city." Amber groans, fixing her hair. Amber is so funny! This is the sixth time she's said that around Klee, but she hasn't stopped gliding over Mondstadt yet! Amber gives Klee a pat on the head, which Klee absolutely loves, and turns back to Miss Noelle.
"Let me help you with those boxes, as an apology for almost killing you." Amber offers and picks up some boxes. Miss Noelle agrees and lifts up the rest.
"If you're looking for Miss Lisa, she should probably be in the library. Good luck, Klee!" Miss Noelle says, and Klee happily waves to them as they start down the stairs before making her way into the building.
Klee carefully pushes open the door to the library, taking care not to dirty Miss Lisa's welcome mat. Miss Lisa has a lot of rules for being in the library, and Klee wrote them down so that she wouldn't accidentally make Miss Lisa upset! Even though Klee doesn't come to the library often, Klee knows Miss Lisa appreciates it when people follow her rules.
But Miss Lisa isn't in the library. The only person there is Miss Mona. She's sitting at one of the tables further into the library, close to the restricted section. Klee thinks Miss Mona is the best! Her hat is super fancy, and her clothes are very pretty! Miss Mona is probably here to do more research on her stars, so Klee shouldn't bother her.
"Klee!" Miss Mona calls. Oh, it seems like Miss Mona wants to talk to her anyway. That's great! Klee doesn't understand most of what Miss Mona says, about being the 'heir' or about the 'sea of stars', but she still loves to listen to Miss Mona talk! It does make her feel like eating fish, though…
"Klee, could you pass this to Albedo? I want a second opinion on my latest research. I would have worked on it more, but I have found myself rather preoccupied with… worldly affairs.” Miss Mona says. That’s Miss Mona’s secret code for ‘I’m hungry’! Maybe Klee should bring her to Good Hunter for some Fisherman’s Toast soon.
Miss Mona picks up a few sheets of paper and hands them to Klee, and Klee carefully puts them into her bag, in between plans for her next treasure so that she doesn't crumple them. Klee knows how much Albedo loves to work on research with Miss Mona! He'll be so happy to have new things to look at.
"Do you know where Miss Lisa is?" Klee asks. Miss Mona nods.
"I heard her say she was going to visit the Acting Grand Master in her office." Miss Mona says. That makes sense! Miss Lisa and Master Jean are super, super close! Maybe Miss Lisa is there to make sure Master Jean isn't working too hard, or to check on the small collection of books in Master Jean's office.
"Thank you so much, Miss Mona!" Klee whispers loudly. She would shout, but Miss Lisa says the library should be quiet, so Klee will have to whisper.
"By the way, Klee, you should pass my research to Albedo after he accepts Kaeya's confession. Or he might get too distracted by it." Miss Mona advises. Klee blinks in surprise. Wow! Miss Mona somehow knew that she was planning to make Kaeya confess to Albedo! Miss Mona is so smart, she must have found out from her star powers!
But Klee remembers Miss Mona saying that she only uses her star powers to find out very important things. Things about the universe! So how would she know?
Miss Mona turns red when Klee asks her, and hides her face under her big hat.
"You see, Klee, sometimes… drastic times call for drastic measures! Love is one of the major factors of the universe! So it's alright for me to use astrology in this case." Miss Mona chokes out. Klee understands! Miss Mona was worried about Albedo! Klee doesn't know why she tried so hard to hide it, Klee cares about Albedo too! It's nice that Albedo has so many friends. But Klee doesn’t say that out loud, because Miss Mona gets embarrassed when Klee says things like that.
Klee thanks Miss Mona again and moves to Master Jean's office. When she walks in, she sees both Master Jean and Miss Lisa discussing something around her desk. Finally! Now Klee can put step 1.5 into motion!
"Miss Lisa, please help me find a romantic location!" Klee announces. Master Jean looks very confused, but Miss Lisa is smiling.
"Of course, little Klee. I've heard all about your plan already. I think it's a great idea! You have my full approval." Miss Lisa says. Oh! Klee was going to ask Master Jean for approval for the final step of her plan, but it seems like she's already gotten approval! Yes!
"Wait, what plan? I didn't approve any plan. Lisa, what is this?" Master Jean asks. She looks more confused the more Miss Lisa speaks. Miss Lisa chuckles and pats Master Jean on the shoulder. Master Jean doesn’t look any more reassured.
“I want to make Kaeya confess to Albedo!” Klee explains. Master Jean goes very red, then white. Oh no, Klee broke her.
“Think about it, Jean, darling.” Miss Lisa says. It’s so nice to have Miss Lisa on her side! Miss Lisa is so good at talking! “You won’t have to put up with Kaeya’s pining anymore. Not to mention the sexual tension… actually, I might miss that part.”
“Lisa!” Master Jean scolds. Klee doesn’t know what ‘sexual tension’ means. But Master Jean looks seconds away from exploding, like a bomb, so Klee doesn’t dare ask her.
“Haha… kidding, I’m kidding.” Miss Lisa says. Master Jean gives her an angry face. Miss Lisa is so brave! Master Jean is so scary when she’s angry, but Miss Lisa is still laughing! Klee would have sent herself to solitary confinement a long time ago if she were Miss Lisa!
“Klee was thinking of a pretty location with many flowers and a nice view!” Klee interjects before Master Jean can really attack Miss Lisa. Klee is saving her life! Miss Lisa nods at Klee’s suggestion, but then holds up a finger.
“Little Klee, how about Angel’s Share instead?” Miss Lisa suggests. Klee tilts her head in confusion. Angel’s Share?
“You mean… Master Diluc’s tavern?” Master Jean says. She doesn’t look angry anymore, she just looks confused again. Klee agrees. Why would a tavern be a good place for a confession? That’s not romantic at all!
“Well you see… Kaeya loves wine. Angel’s Share has wine. Kaeya will love Angel’s Share!” Miss Lisa grandly explains. Wow! That makes a lot of sense! Klee knows that Kaeya really, really likes wine and alcohol. Besides, they had Master Jean’s birthday party there once, so it’s a good place for decoration!
Master Jean makes a funny expression and puts her head in her hands. Klee can hear her sigh really loudly, but she doesn’t say anything. Master Jean probably agrees!
“Lisa… I hope you know what you’re doing.” Master Jean mumbles. Klee doesn’t really know why Master Jean seems so worried about Kaeya confessing in Angel’s Share. Miss Lisa had some really good points! It must be a weird grown-up problem, to have to worry about everything.
“Thank you, Miss Lisa! I’ll go talk to Mister Diluc!” Klee says excitedly. She quickly turns to exit the office. The last thing she hears before the doors to Master Jean’s office closes is Miss Lisa reassuring Master Jean about the plan.
“Just think about the mental image of Klee asking Diluc if Kaeya can confess in his tavern… oh, to be a fly on the wall for that conversation.”
Klee doesn’t know why Miss Lisa would want to be a fly when she’s already so pretty the way she is, but that doesn’t matter! She has to quickly go to Angel’s Share before all the drunk people go there at night, or Mister Diluc might not have time to talk to her!
When she exits the Knights of Favonius headquarters, Klee sees a familiar face pacing back and forth outside.
“Miss Barbara?”
Miss Barbara jumps almost as high as a whole hilichurl into the air and screams loudly. Klee didn’t mean to scare her! Miss Barbara just looked really deep in thought, and Klee wanted to greet her!
Miss Barbara is the best! She’s a super famous idol, so she’s super pretty, and she sings very well! Sometimes Klee tries to practice her singing when she’s adventuring, but she can only sing ‘da da da’ at best. Miss Barbara can sing a whole tune!
Miss Barbara’s hydro vision is also really cool! Whenever Barbara uses it around Mondstadt, people will clap for her! Sometimes, a rainbow will appear! The only time rainbows appear when Klee uses her vision is when she blows up a particularly colourful building.
“What are you doing, Miss Barbara?” Klee asks. Miss Barbara turns pink and rubs the back of her neck sheepishly. She’s holding one of the fancy new objects from Liyue, the Kamera! Klee heard all about them from Albedo!
“If you want to visit Master Jean, you can just go inside! She’s in her office right now.” Klee says. Miss Barbara becomes even more red.
“Uh! No, it’s okay! I’m just… walking! Just stretching my legs!” Miss Barbara says frantically. She starts doing some funny exercises, jogging on the stop and twisting her hips. Klee really doesn’t understand grown-ups!
“It’s okay, Miss Barbara. If you’re scared to talk to Master Jean, you can just hug her! I hug Albedo all the time, and it’s really nice! I’m sure Master Jean would love it if you hug her!” Klee says. Miss Barbara freezes and turns towards Klee.
“You… really think so?” Miss Barbara asks. She sounds very scared. Oh no… Klee doesn’t know what she would do if she couldn’t hug Albedo, she can’t even imagine how Miss Barbara must feel. Miss Barbara must not have had many hugs. Klee will have to change that!
“I’ll hug you, so you can practice!” Klee announces, and wraps her arms around Miss Barbara’s waist. Miss Barbara is actually quite tall compared to Klee, so Klee is on her tiptoes, but it’s worth it! Klee’s arms can’t reach all the way around Miss Barbara, even though Miss Barbara is so thin, but Master Jean has longer arms so she probably can!
Miss Barbara was frozen for the first few seconds, but then she reaches down and hugs Klee back. Yes! Hugs are the best, and Miss Barbara definitely deserves all of them! Someone as cute and kind as Miss Barbara should be hugged all the time!
“Thank you, Klee.” Miss Barbara says. Her eyes are shiny. Klee really hopes she didn’t make Miss Barbara cry, but Miss Barbara is smiling, so it must be fine. Miss Barbara pulls out a picture of her and Master Jean in the cathedral and looks at it with sad eyes.
“I was hoping we could take a new one, maybe near Windrise.” Miss Barbara whispers. She must be talking about Master Jean. Klee doesn’t think for a second that Master Jean would ever say no to Miss Barbara, and she tells her so. Miss Barbara smiles.
“I’ll go ask her now!” Miss Barbara says confidently. She quickly runs up the stairs and pushes open the doors to the Knights of Favonius headquarters. Right before she goes in, Miss Barbara turns and waves to Klee. When Klee waves back, Miss Barbara turns pink and slams the door shut. Miss Barbara really is the cutest! Klee wishes both her and Master Jean the best. One day, the two of them might be able to join Klee on her picnics with Albedo!
If the confession goes well, maybe Kaeya might come along too...
Right! Klee has a mission! Now fully motivated, Klee turns and runs down the stairs, heading towards Angel’s Share. She has to convince Mister Diluc for the final step of her plan!
Notes:
Technically a tavern isn’t a really good place for a confession lmao but like just imagine,,, diluc’s face >:o
Venti is seriously adorable and he’s so convenient for exploration? I thought since I had albedo I was already great at getting places, but now with venti and albedo the places I can get are so high I don’t even need to climb its amazing
The windblume events look super fun to play too even though I suck at aiming and gliding,,, I only just recently realised that gyro aiming on mobile doesn’t have that sensitivity problem but it’s too late,,, I spent 50 ARs not aiming my aim is trash. I have no excuse for gliding though I just really suck at it
Thank you for reading <3 Comments and kudos are always appreciated!!
Chapter 4: Step 2: location
Summary:
Miss Lisa has given Klee a great idea for a romantic location! But in order for the plan to work, she will first have to convince Mister Diluc...
Notes:
Hello it’s me again! Thank so all so much for the amazing comments last chapter I laughed a lot skshdgdhdh we’re almost at 50 comments now :o (not including my replies because that’s cheating!!)
How’s everyone enjoying the windblume event?? because I absolutely love it it’s adorable <3 I’m taking bets on who you guys think bennett is writing a love letter to (fishnet anyone?)
The shooting event is hell on mobile,,, I’ve resigned myself to losing out on a few tickets in exchange for my sanity (shooting tips are welcomed but honestly I’m about as lazy as lisa so I probably won’t follow them ehe I’d rather have comments about how cute venti was!!) I can somehow do the other two events!! (Not the wonderland thing though that’s impossible I hate it stupid bubbles)
This chapter is full of people I don’t know that well,,, SPOILER diona (don’t use her), diluc (don’t have him unfortunately D:), rosaria (not even out yet) and venti (friendship level 3) so I hope I did them justice!! Maybe diluc will finally come home now so that my team of supports will have someone to support
Enjoy!!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
“Klee!” Diona calls from the entrance of Cat’s Tail. Klee immediately turns from her original route and runs towards Cat’s Tail to greet her. She loves playing with Diona! There aren’t many people her age in Mondstadt with visions, so Klee was super happy when she got to know Diona and they could play together! Maybe Diona wants to go on an adventure together today? Oh wait...
“We can’t hang out today, Diona.” Klee says apologetically. Diona’s excited face immediately falls into a pout, her cat ears dropping. Diona is the cutest! She’s the same age as Klee but her cat ears and tail are so cute, even though Klee privately thinks her own ears are pretty cute too. At least, Albedo says so! And Albedo is always right!
“But why? If we go hang out, I have an excuse to give to Margaret about why I can’t be the bartender today! My latest drink was too well-received, I need a break.” Diona complains. Honestly, Klee is pretty confused by why Diona’s disgusting drinks never seem to do their job of making people disgusted. Do drunk people have no taste buds?
Klee was the one who went with Diona to collect some slime condensate, because Diona only had a cryo vision, and she wanted someone to help her collect geo and cryo slimes’ condensate as well! Klee can’t imagine putting that thing in her mouth! Drunk people are so weird.
“I need to go to Angel’s Share to talk to Mister Diluc! It’s to make Kaeya confess to Albedo!” Klee explains. Diona’s face lights up in understanding and she nods vigorously. It seems like everyone already knew that Kaeya liked Albedo! Klee thought Kaeya was supposed to be good at keeping secrets, but it seems like this is the one secret he can’t keep.
“But, Klee! Why are you going to Angel’s Share? You should come to Cat’s Tail!” Diona yells, her tail swishing angrily. Oh right… Diona doesn’t like Mister Diluc at all! She always lamented that if Diluc didn’t exist, the wine industry wouldn’t exist. Klee would gladly help her get rid of the wine industry! But Diona says that it’s not something that Klee can bomb up, so Klee doesn’t really have a second plan.
“Sorry, Diona! I need to find a place that has alcohol for Kaeya!” Klee apologises. Diona stomps her foot on the ground a few times and huffs, crossing her arms. Her cat ears twitch in annoyance as she turns away from Klee. Klee really does feel bad! Diona absolutely hates alcohol, and everyone who drinks alcohol, but unfortunately for her, Mondstadt is full of drunks!
“Fine! But make sure the confession goes well! Then maybe I’ll finally get the chance to ask Mister Albedo how to make a drink so disgusting no one will drink it…” Diona muses. Of course Albedo would know how to do that! If anyone could solve a problem that seems to be impossible to solve, it would be Albedo! He is the smartest, after all!
Although, if drunk people are willing to drink slime condensate, it might be a pretty tough challenge… Klee will have to help him!
Having gotten Diona’s blessing, Klee quickly runs down the stairs, past the Adventurers’ Guild, and turns left to take a slightly longer route to Angel’s Share, having been detoured by Diona. She really hopes she can beat the late night crowd! In Mondstadt, people drink at all hours of the day, but the taverns get especially crowded at night!
Luckily, Angel’s Share is completely empty save for two people lounging at the bar when Klee bursts in.
Sister Rosaria only glances over her shoulder and huffs when she sees Klee hurry over to the bar. Klee doesn’t say this often, but she’s a little bit scared of Sister Rosaria. She’s like Master Jean when Master Jean is angry, except Sister Rosaria is like that all the time! Does she ever smile? When Klee goes to the cathedral to get patched up after an adventure, Sister Rosaria has never once smiled at her! She’s as cold as her cryo vision!
The other person turns out to be Venti, the green bard that likes to play pretty songs around Mondstadt! Klee isn't really good at playing songs and stuff, but the songs he plays sound really nice! She’s actually hoping that he’ll offer to teach Klee how to play better, then she can show off her skills to Albedo! His two little braids are also super cute, and Klee is pretty sure she's seen them glow sometimes, especially when he uses his anemo vision! Klee doesn't talk to Venti often, but she wants to.
Mister Diluc doesn't seem to be at the counter, so Klee pulls out a seat at the bar to wait for him. She goes to sit on it, but quickly realises that bar stools are not made with people her age in mind. It's way too tall!
Venti giggles at Klee's failed attempt to climb the bar stool and gently lifts her up by creating a wind current with his anemo vision. She's quickly seated onto the stool in no time. Wow! Venti is so cool and powerful!
"Hi, Klee!" Venti says cheerfully. He's sipping from a wine glass, which means that Mister Diluc, or at least a bartender, should be around here somewhere. "What is someone your age doing in a tavern?"
Sister Rosaria is nursing a half full bottle of dandelion wine and shows no sign of stopping, so Klee takes this opportunity to talk to Venti for a while.
"I'm looking for Mister Diluc! I need to ask him if I can use Angel's Share to let Kaeya confess to Albedo!" Klee announces. Come to think of it, Venti doesn't look that old either. But he's always drinking, so maybe he just has a baby face!
Venti immediately bursts out laughing at Klee's sentence, slamming his wine glass onto the table hard enough that Klee is surprised it didn’t explode like one of her bombs.
"Using Diluc's tavern—! I would pay actual mora to watch that!" Venti bursts out, almost falling off his stool with how hard he was laughing. Klee still doesn't see what's so funny. Is this what Miss Lisa was laughing about as well?
"Good luck with that." Sister Rosaria mutters, throwing back the rest of her drink. She promptly steals Venti's glass, who's too busy trying to pull himself off the floor, and starts sipping on it.
Mister Diluc must be a selfish person, if everyone thinks that he wouldn’t want to lend his tavern to Klee for such an important event! Klee will have to properly scold him! You're not supposed to be selfish, you have to share things, that's what Master Jean said.
Kaeya taught her something completely different, but he also told her not to tell Master Jean, and Klee is good at keeping secrets. So she'll secretly bomb anyone who tries to take her stuff without her permission under the guise of 'borrowing' out of Mondstadt!
Just then, the door to the backroom of the tavern opens and Mister Diluc walks out. Klee… doesn’t think Mister Diluc is the best. In fact, he’s one of the weird grown ups! He’s always so grumpy, and he never smiles! Kaeya likes to tell her funny stories of Mister Diluc when they were young, which makes Klee laugh. Klee knows a lot about Mister Diluc thanks to Kaeya.
"Mister Diluc! May I please use Angel's Share as the location for Kaeya to confess to Albedo? It's important!" Klee says politely. She can see Sister Rosaria watching them while sipping her drink, and even Venti has gotten up from the floor and was quietly staring at the scene from the other end of the bar.
“...what.” Mister Diluc says flatly. He doesn’t sound very happy, but he never sounds happy, so Klee repeats her question in case he didn’t hear her.
Mister Diluc's face somehow goes through all the five stages of grief in three seconds, before his face turns as red as his hair and he gives the floor the most incredulous look Klee has ever seen on a person, like it has personally offended him. Then he schools his face into an impassive expression and turns to face Klee, and it would be impressive if it wasn't ruined by his red ears.
"No. Why would I do that? They can find somewhere else to… confess." Mister Diluc spits out the word 'confess' like it'll infect him if he said it normally. Oh no! Mister Diluc doesn't want to share. But Klee isn't willing to give up so easily!
"Miss Lisa told me to ask you for help!" Klee says firmly. She stands up on the bar stool, which is mysteriously being held steady by a block of ice at the bottom, so she can be slightly taller than Mister Diluc. Kaeya says height gives you an advantage! Now she has the high ground!
It reminds her a lot of standing in Albedo's Solar Isotoma. She's definitely going to win this fight!
"Lisa? So this is where her expertise is being put to use… don’t the Knights have anything better to do?” Mister Diluc scoffs. Klee thinks her ‘intimidation tactics’, as Kaeya called them, are working! She got Mister Diluc to bring up the Knights of Favonius, which Kaeya says is a sign that Mister Diluc is getting annoyed.
Maybe it should be a bit weird how Kaeya has taught her so much about how to fight Mister Diluc properly, but this information is being put to good use now! After all, Kaeya is very good at everything and Klee trusts him.
“Mister Diluc! Kaeya and Albedo really like each other, and I will not allow you to stand in their way! It would make Kaeya very happy if you could help him by lending us your tavern. Please!” Klee says, then bows. She doesn’t really know why Kaeya and Mister Diluc seem to fight with each other so often, but it makes her sad to see Kaeya sad. If she can help them reconcile while also getting Albedo a boyfriend, then so be it!
Mister Diluc freezes when Klee finishes her short speech. He crosses his arms and seems to be studying the back of his bar table intensely. Klee waits patiently. Kaeya says the key to getting Mister Diluc to agree to things is to bring up feelings and then let him marinate in his mistakes. He’s what Kaeya calls a ‘tsundere’, which Klee is pretty sure is a word from Inazuma, but she doesn’t know what it means. It’s fine, as long as it works.
“I’m sure your Cavalry Captain will be much less insufferable if he finally gets together with that alchemist.” Mister Diluc finally says. Sister Rosaria raises an eyebrow at Klee, quietly impressed. Venti makes a fist pumping gesture at Klee and nods. That must mean Klee succeeded! Mister Diluc really does have a heart under all his layers of clothes!
“I’ll… cover your shift in the city tonight. Have fun preparing for the confession.” Sister Rosaria says, downing the rest of her drink. Mister Diluc nods curtly at her and Sister Rosaria leaves the tavern, polearm manifesting in her hand. Mister Diluc isn’t a part of the Knights, and neither is Sister Rosaria, so Klee doesn’t understand why they have shifts! Besides, it’s nighttime, so wouldn’t Mister Diluc be tending to his bar?
“I can’t believe you lost an argument to a five year old! Master Diluc, you’re getting soft!” Venti chuckles. Mister Diluc shoots him a warning glare, and Venti cheekily holds his bottle of wine closer to himself and sticks out his tongue.
“You can add this to your gift. It’ll make for a better bouquet.” Mister Diluc says, thrusting a bunch of cecilias and other small flowers into Klee’s hands. Klee looks at the bouquet of Sweet Flowers Miss Sucrose had given her, then back to the bunch of flowers she had just gotten.
“Master Diluc is so harsh! He means the bouquet could use some other colours.” Venti interjects. He easily merges the two bunches of flowers together, and ties the ribbon around them. Oh! Klee doesn’t know anything about flower arrangement, but this looks really pretty! She didn’t know Mister Diluc was so good at it!
“Yes, I know things about flower arrangement. Is that so surprising?” Mister Diluc says, frowning when Klee turns to him, impressed. “Don’t look at me like that. It’s not important.”
“Thank you so much, Mister Diluc! I’m sure the decorations will look super pretty! I’ll ask Albedo and Kaeya to be here tomorrow night, so please help me prepare the tavern by then!” Klee says. She’s in awe! Mister Diluc may have a grumpy face, but he’s actually really nice! He just doesn’t say anything nice, only does them! Klee prefers it when people also say nice things, but many people in Mondstadt seem to be incapable of just saying what they mean. It’s okay! Klee still thinks Mister Diluc is the best now!
“Wait. I never agreed to help decorate the tavern.” Mister Diluc says urgently. Klee ignores him, instead focusing on opening the door to Angel’s Share and getting out. She can still hear Mister Diluc calling for her as the door swings shut, but it's okay to be a little rude just this one time! She has a free pass from Kaeya to be a little rude to Mister Diluc every once in a while, and this is more important! Mister Diluc would be really good at setting up the decorations anyway!
Klee runs to the alchemy laboratory, where she’s sure Albedo is at. Sure enough, she can hear the sounds of tinkering coming from inside. The door doesn’t say ‘Experiment in Progress’, so that means it’s okay for Klee to go in! She knocks first, just in case, and waits until she hears Albedo say that she can come in before pushing the door open.
Albedo looks up from the table where he is writing down a bunch of funny numbers and explanations on a piece of paper. His eyes soften when he sees Klee walk in, hugging her backpack to her chest and sidestepping around the tables, being careful not to knock over anything. Albedo quickly tidies up the stack of papers and sets them aside. Now that she’s in the clear, Klee runs up and throws her arms around Albedo. She missed him! She was so busy with her secret mission that she hadn’t gone to see him today!
“Is it time to go to bed, Klee?” Albedo says, picking her up. Yes! Klee loves it when Albedo carries her. It makes her feel safe. Just being with Albedo in general makes her feel safe! But now that he’s mentioned it, Klee actually does feel a bit sleepy…
“You need to follow me to Angel’s Share tomorrow at night, Albedo!” Klee quickly says. Albedo gives her an amused expression as he carries her out of the laboratory. It seems like his experiments today weren’t that important. On important days, Albedo doesn’t leave the laboratory for days! Then Klee has to bring him food, usually accompanied by Kaeya.
“Why? I don’t drink, and neither do you, Klee.” Albedo hums. He looks thin, but Albedo is actually strong enough to carry Klee all the way from the laboratory to their house! Klee has often fallen asleep on the couch in the laboratory and woken up at home, like magic! Klee really loves Albedo.
“It’s important! Just go.” Klee insists, gently placing a hand on Albedo’s cheek to make him stop questioning her. Albedo dodges her hand, chucking to himself as he adjusts his grip on Klee.
“Alright then. Come by my laboratory tomorrow and I’ll follow you to Angel’s Share. Good night, Klee.” Albedo murmurs, patting Klee on the head. Great! The final step of the plan has finally been put into motion. Tomorrow, Klee will have to meet with Kaeya in the morning to discuss his confession plan, and then at night Klee will have a new big brother! Klee thinks that it’s a great idea, but it’s starting to become difficult to think properly when Albedo is so warm… and soft…
Albedo smiles as Klee’s breathing slowly evens out and her grip on his jacket slackens. It must have been a long day for her to fall asleep so easily. Usually he has to read a few bedtimes stories and occasionally play a tune on the lyre before she even gets tired. He heard she’s been running around Mondstadt looking for people, but he’s still not sure for what.
Maybe he’ll finally find out about it tomorrow.
Notes:
The way that this is a kaeya/albedo fanfic but kaeya only appeared in the first chapter and disappeared off the face of the earth and albedo only appeared now in the fourth chapter
The fifth and final chapter may take a bit longer than usual bc I have a (luckily not weighted) math test next week so I’m gonna be studying for that :( but yes!! The next chapter will be the last one: confession!!
I really hope I got everyone in mondstadt in here (not counting SPOILER eula ALERT because she’s not out yet) please let me know if I missed anyone because if not I’ll cry when I finally find out
Also — alb*rt? Creepy barbara stalker smh stay away from her I keep getting the stop alb*rt stop commission I think it’s a sign,,,
Anyway thanks for reading <3 Comments and kudos are always appreciated!!
Chapter 5: Step 3: confession
Summary:
The big day is finally here... the confession date! Time to go over the last few details with Kaeya, and hopefully at the end of it all the plan would have succeeded!
Notes:
Thank you all for successfully making it to the last chapter!! We’re here!! Confession time!! This one is the longest by far, at over 3k words :o
I much prefer writing the pining part of fanfiction (don’t know if you can tell that by the fact that this fanfic is literally 8k words of people talking about Kaeya and Albedo pining for each other) but unfortunately all good things must come to an end so here’s 3k of confession and established relationship
It was,,, interesting to write what’s probably the most lore heavy ship in genshin (what with the whole SPOILER Khaenri’ahn and kaeya maybe being a prince and albedo literally not even being human!!) confessing through the eyes of a child who does NOT know about all the angst :o I was like “how much lore should I add this is supposed to be fluff” so don’t worry it’s all fluff :D I’m incapable of writing angst
Also there’s this one fanart of a hand cupping Albedo’s cheek and it has lived rent free in my brain just imagine kaeya doing that with their adorable height difference for the entirety of this chapter and you’re good
Enjoy!!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
“Remember, you need to be at Angel’s Share tonight! I’ll come pick you up from your laboratory when it’s time to go!” Klee reminds Albedo before he leaves the house. Knowing him, he might have gotten distracted by a new project, and Klee will later find him deep in his research! Better remind him now just in case!
“Of course. Have a good day, Klee.” Albedo nods, and sets off towards whatever he’s going to do. Klee doesn’t really know, it’s all super smart alchemy stuff!
Klee has a different mission. She needs to brief Kaeya on the details of the plan, and hand over all her equipment! There’s a pretty bouquet of flowers he needs to give, and he needs to know what to say! There’s so much work that still needs to be done.
Klee wastes no time in climbing up Mondstadt’s countless staircases to the Knights of Favonius headquarters. Luckily, when she bursts through the doors, Kaeya is standing there, reading through a thick file of reports. Good! She doesn’t have to run around searching for him.
Kaeya seems kind of busy right now… but it’s okay! Nothing could possibly be more important than Albedo! Kaeya’s reports will have to wait.
“Kaeya! I’ve come up with a plan to help you confess to Albedo!” Klee yells. Kaeya startles, nearly dropping his file. That’s when Klee notices that they’re not the only ones in the headquarters.
Kaeya flushes, glancing around the heavily populated entrance hall. All the other knights quickly avoid eye contact, noisily clearing their throats or humming loudly as they pointedly do not look at Kaeya or Klee and hastily evacuate the premises.
When the area is empty, Kaeya snaps his file shut and watches Klee skip towards him with a strained smile.
“Klee, was there a need to announce that in front of… well… everybody?” Kaeya is still smiling, but his entire body yells that he really wants to fling himself off Mondstadt’s walls and into Cider Lake right about now. Klee has no time for Kaeya to be embarrassed! It’s not like no one knew that Kaeya likes Albedo anyway.
“Don’t worry about that, Kaeya! I have more important things to say.” Klee dismisses, waving her hand. Kaeya takes a deep breath and stares at the ceiling, muttering things like ‘archons give me patience’ and ‘I’ve been a terrible influence’. That last one is definitely not true! Kaeya has taught Klee so many amazing things, and is partially the reason why Klee could put her plan into action in the first place!
Klee hands over the bouquet of flowers, practically shoving the flowers into Kaeya’s hands and stealing the file from him while he’s distracted. Klee places the file on the floor. That’s not important right now! When she turns back, Kaeya is studying the flowers intently.
“Is… Master Diluc part of this plan?” Kaeya asks softly, looking at the flowers. When Klee nods, Kaeya chuckles, turning the bouquet over in his hands so he can see it from all angles. “I thought so. No one makes bouquets the way he does. It’s pretty. I like it a lot, Klee.”
“It’s for you to give to Albedo when you confess! Flowers are romantic.” Klee explains. Kaeya breaks out of the little trance he was in and makes a sound of understanding. Great! Equipment delivered!
“Have you thought about what you’re going to say when you confess?” Klee demands. Kaeya looks thoroughly floored. Klee might not have the height advantage here, but she’s very good at getting Kaeya to agree to things, so she has a natural advantage!
“Klee, are you sure you want me to confess to Albedo? Maybe you can find someone better, like another alchemist, or someone from Mondstadt.” Kaeya sighs, sitting on the floor so that he’s eye level with Klee.
Klee frowns.
“It has to be you! You are a part of Mondstadt, in fact, you’re a Cavalry Captain! And I’ve seen you reading books on alchemy in the library so you can understand what Albedo is saying when you go visit him. You know a lot about alchemy.” Klee says. Kaeya doesn’t seem to agree with her, by the way he huffs and turns away. Klee grabs his face with her hands and turns it back towards her.
“Kaeya! You really like Albedo. Albedo really likes you. You can take care of him. You make him happy! There can’t possibly be anyone that I’d rather have as a big brother-in-law, because you’re the best! Isn’t that enough?” Done with her impromptu speech, Klee surges forward and wraps Kaeya in a hug. It seems like he needs it!
Kaeya squeezes her tightly in the hug, and they stay like that for a few more seconds as Kaeya pretends he’s not trying not to cry. When Kaeya lets go, Klee averts her eyes so Kaeya can quickly wipe at his eyes and make himself presentable again.
“Alright, walk me through the plan, Klee. Let’s get myself a boyfriend!” Kaeya cheers. Alright! Klee has been waiting for this! She immediately pulls a carefully folded sheet of paper out from her bag and spreads it on the floor.
The two of them sit on the floor for a while, going over confession plans and the details. Kaeya laughs for a long time when Klee describes how she got Mister Diluc to agree to lend them his tavern, and pats her head saying that he taught her well.
The rest of the knights mill around them, going about their duties while pretending that they can’t see their Cavalry Captain sitting on the floor with their Spark Knight. At one point, Lisa and Jean come back and give thumbs ups to Kaeya, who responds with a pointed look and a sign that Klee isn’t allowed to see before the two disappear into Jean’s office.
Around late afternoon, Kaeya finally stands up and stretches, helping Klee off the ground as well.
“I’ll be heading to Angel’s Share now, Klee. I’ll trust you to get Albedo to come on time.” Kaeya smiles. Klee nods hastily and gives him one last quick hug, for luck! Kaeya grabs the bouquet of flowers, mysteriously uncrushed from all the hugging, and walks out the door.
This is so exciting! All Klee needs to do now is get Albedo to go to Angel’s Share with her, and Kaeya’s confession should handle the rest. Klee can’t wait!
When she reaches Albedo’s laboratory, he’s surprisingly not in the middle of some complicated experiment, and is just waiting for her on his couch.
“Hello, Klee. I didn’t forget your important event. Shall we go?” Albedo says, standing up and holding out his hand when he sees Klee. This is why Albedo is the absolute best! He never forgets anything when Klee says it’s important, even though he doesn’t understand it. Klee happily holds his hand and lets Albedo lead her to Angel’s Share, stopping him before he can open the doors.
“Wait! Let me go in first, just to make sure!” Klee insists. Albedo nods seriously and stands off to the side, making himself busy with reading the notice board that states that the tavern was closed tonight for ‘undisclosed reasons’. The rest of the notice board is solely dedicated to missing person posters. What’s up with that, anyway?
When Klee carefully slips into the tavern, she’s immediately impressed. Wow! Mister Diluc really went all out! The second floor banisters are covered in flower garlands and streamers, and all the tables and chairs on the first floor have been pushed to the side to make space for a circle of flowers. There’s even fairy lights hanging from the ceiling and the bar! Mister Diluc is amazing!
“Oh, Klee, it’s just you.” Kaeya sighs, the hand not holding the bouquet pressed over his heart. He seems really nervous!
“Don’t worry, Kaeya! If Albedo doesn’t accept your confession — which definitely won’t happen! — I’ll fight him for you!” Klee cheers, making a fist pumping motion. Kaeya laughs, his nervous expression clearing for a second to make way for a mischievous smile.
“Please tell Lisa that I can see Diluc’s hair from down here. She should really stop dragging everyone into my business.” Kaeya whispers loudly. Klee can hear Miss Lisa gasp theatrically from somewhere above her, followed by Mister Diluc’s grunt of pain. She can also hear Master Jean scolding them both. Just how many people are up there?
When Klee climbs the steps to the second floor, she finds it isn’t only the three people that she just heard. Basically the entire Mondstadt is here!
There’s Bennett with Razor and Miss Fischl, the three of them huddled together in a corner discussing something, probably their next exploration location. Amber is practically shaking with excitement, Miss Noelle watching her worriedly in case she falls off her seat. Miss Barbara is chatting with Master Jean, who’s given up on scolding Miss Lisa and Mister Diluc sitting beside her, while Diona shoots Mister Diluc a dirty look every three seconds. Miss Mona and Miss Sucrose are debating some alchemy topic, while Venti strums a tune on his lyre. Even Sister Rosaria is sitting in a dark corner, nursing a bottle of wine.
“We’re all here to support you, Kaeya! Go for it!” Amber yells, leaning over the banister to wave enthusiastically. Kaeya sends her a wink, which looks really weird because he only has one eye exposed to begin with. Or maybe it’s a blink? Either way, someone should probably pull Amber back before she falls over to the first floor.
Klee hurriedly takes a seat beside Master Jean and cups her hands around her mouth to yell loud enough for Albedo to hear from outside the tavern.
“You can come in now, Albedo!”
The door creaks open, and silence immediately falls over the second floor, everyone tensed in anticipation.
“Klee? What’s happening— oh.” Albedo’s normally soothing voice hitches as he enters the tavern and takes in the sight. The fancy decorations, the ring of flowers, the badly hidden people watching them from the second floor with zero regard to their privacy — everything.
And Kaeya, standing in the middle, holding a bouquet of flowers.
“Come on, let’s give them a show.” Kaeya smiles, and gently pulls a shell-shocked Albedo into the ring of flowers.
“Captain Kaeya?” Albedo asks.
“Just Kaeya is fine.” Kaeya says. He presses the bouquet of flowers into Albedo’s hand, who takes them in mild confusion.
“So, Klee helped me prepare this speech. Well, she helped prepare everything you’re seeing right now, really.” Kaeya chuckles, gesturing to the backdrop. Albedo takes a look around the tavern again and smiles.
“So this is what she’s been doing the entirety of yesterday?” Albedo murmurs in wonder. Kaeya smirks, and takes Albedo’s waiting hands into his, which elicits a tiny squeal from the more excitable members of the viewing party.
“Well, I think it’s pretty obvious what I’m trying to do here.” Kaeya chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. The heart-shaped balloons might have been too much after all, then. But it was romantic!
“I want to hear you say it anyway.” Albedo insists. Kaeya laughs, bowing grandly and mimicking a ‘as you wish’ gesture.
“Albedo, I really like you.” Kaeya confesses, and Klee delights in the way she can see Albedo’s cheeks turn red and his eyes widen. Probably no one else could see the way Albedo’s breathing speeds up by just a tiny bit, or the way his mouth parts in shock. By Kaeya’s amused smile, Klee knows that he noticed.
“Albedo, I like you so much that even your little sister could tell, and spent an entire day setting up this event just so I could finally confess. I like you so much that all the vision wielders in Mondstadt are camping upstairs tonight, because they’re had enough of my pining and want to watch the confession finally happen.”
“I like you so much that I scare myself sometimes.” Kaeya murmurs so quietly that Klee has to strain her ears to hear it, his hand reaching up to tuck Albedo’s hair behind his ears. Kaeya’s eyes soften. “Well. Not to go around spilling secrets in polite company, but you would understand, don’t you?”
“I do.” Albedo whispers. There’s a history behind that question that Klee doesn’t understand, but from the way Mister Diluc frowns and Sister Rosaria turns away, Klee knows it is important. But it doesn’t matter. Because right now, Klee doesn’t doubt that the two of them have forgotten that they have an audience.
Kaeya’s eyes light up, and his cocky facade falls away, exposing his real smile.
“Then, would you grant me the honor of being able to kiss the prettiest person in the entire Teyvat?” Kaeya smiles, cupping Albedo’s face in his hands.
“If anything, you should be the one giving me that honor.” Albedo huffs, but the way his cheeks flare red and his hands fist themselves in Kaeya’s jacket front are much more telling of his true feelings.
“I’m not watching this.” Mister Diluc sniffs, hastily turning away so everyone can avert their eyes and pretend he wasn’t tearing up at the sight. He gets up from his seat, opening the door to the balcony on the second floor to usher everyone out to give the couple some semblance of privacy.
“My my, not into voyeurism, Diluc?” Lisa chuckles quietly, ignoring Mister Diluc’s watery glare to help to shepherd everyone out the door and down the stepladder someone had the foresight to put there beforehand. It must have been quite the sight, seeing nearly all the vision wielders of Mondstadt climbing out of the second floor balcony of Angel’s Share, including respected Acting Grandmaster Jean and the Uncrowned King of Mondstadt Master Diluc.
Klee is the last one out the door, and she turns around just in time to catch a glimpse of Kaeya bending down to meet Albedo’s lips in a kiss.
Later, when night has fallen, Kaeya and Albedo finally exit Angel’s Share hand in hand, prompting a round of whoops and cheers from everyone waiting outside. Albedo flushes heavily although his face remains stoic, and Kaeya smirks, lifting Albedo’s hand up to his lips to press a kiss to his palm.
“Congratulations! Would you be able to stop breaking into my office during work hours to rant about Albedo now, Kaeya?” Master Jean teases with a warm smile. Albedo lifts an eyebrow in amusement as Kaeya groans loudly and playfully shoves Master Jean in the side. Kaeya is so brave to disturb Master Jean while she is working! Maybe it counts as a break of sorts, to prevent Master Jean from working too hard, and to let her listen to some gossip.
“Please continue coming in, during office hours especially. I would love to hear all about the new couple. Most importantly, how is the… ah… physical relationship?” Miss Lisa winks. Master Jean turns bright red and slaps a hand over Miss Lisa’s mouth to prevent her from speaking more. Klee doesn’t really understand the question…
“Maybe you’ll stop being so insufferable in the tavern after hours.” Mister Diluc huffs. Kaeya grins widely, and spreads his arms for a hug, much to the chagrin of the much shorter Albedo as Kaeya nearly smacks him in the face.
“Aw! I knew you cared about me! So touching, Master Diluc.” Kaeya pretends to cry, the grumpy storm cloud Klee always envisions around Mister Diluc’s head growing darker as Kaeya throws himself around Mister Diluc. Strangely, Mister Diluc doesn’t push Kaeya away, until Kaeya detaches naturally to go terrorise someone else. Mister Diluc can be pretty cute sometimes! Klee will have to add him to her list of people she needs to hug.
“I’m really happy for you, Mister Albedo!” Miss Sucrose exclaims shyly. She then proceeds to seem surprised by her own outburst and desperately tries to dodge Albedo giving her a pat on the head. Miss Sucrose really is the best! It’s so nice of her to stop her experiments for a while to come support Albedo!
“It’s super cool that you guys are dating now! I’m definitely going to tell my dads all about this!” Bennett cheers enthusiastically, grabbing Miss Fischl's and Razor’s hands to pump them in the air together. Razor just looks mildly confused while Miss Fischl turns bright red and flips her hair over her face immediately. The three of them are so cute! Klee wants to join them for an adventure someday!
“Kaeya! That confession was so sweet! I can totally feel the blood pumping in my veins!” Amber yells, dragging a confused Miss Noelle and Miss Barbara with her towards Kaeya.
“Are you sure that isn’t just your near death experience from almost falling off the second floor?” Kaeya asks, amused, as Amber flushes and stomps her feet.
“You saw that? I’m fine! Noelle is really strong.” Amber squeaks, shoving Miss Noelle forward. Miss Noelle curtsies — Klee should learn how to do that! It would be so pretty! — and pulls Miss Barbara forward to engage Kaeya in pleasant small talk, the way one does after it was just revealed that they were spying on someone’s confession.
“...Good for you.” Sister Rosaria says solemnly, breaking the intense staring contest she and Albedo were having. Sister Rosaria is so serious around Albedo! It’s probably because she and Kaeya are best friends, and she’s worried Albedo would hurt Kaeya. She doesn’t have to be so worried, though! Albedo would never hurt anyone in Mondstadt!
“Surely this occasion calls for a round of drinks, doesn’t it, Master Diluc?” Venti calls excitedly, already holding a bottle of wine. Miss Mona was hurriedly stuffing her face with the small side dishes Mister Diluc had set out for the viewing party beside him, but hastily hid the dish behind her when Venti drew attention to their corner, as if no one could see the crumbs left around her mouth.
“...I suppose I could come up with a limited edition cocktail for the occasion.” Mister Diluc sighs, as Venti whoops and pops the bottle of wine open to celebrate. “I’m adding that to your tab, by the way.”
Klee ignores the sounds of Diona clawing Venti for the bottle of wine and Venti’s sudden burst of sneezes in favour of going up to Kaeya and Albedo, who’ve somehow managed to extract themselves from the crowd.
“Klee! There you are.” Albedo says warmly, scooping Klee up into his arms to carry her. Kaeya leans over and ruffles her hair affectionately.
“Did you like it, Albedo? I worked really hard to plan this for you!” Klee asks, throwing her arms around Albedo’s neck to stable herself as they start to walk back towards their house. The group behind them doesn’t notice, too busy perestering Mister Diluc into giving everyone a round of free non-alcoholic drinks, courtesy of the more responsible members of the group.
“Let’s put our little Spark Knight to bed, and then maybe we can partake in some night time activities of our own, hm?” Kaeya suggests, leading them down the route towards Klee and Albedo’s house, even though Klee doesn’t remember telling him how to get there. Kaeya really does just know everything!
“If by ‘night time activities’ you mean ‘going to bed so that I can wake up early tomorrow for my next experiment’, then yes. I’m glad we are on the same page.” Albedo snipes back, quickening his pace.
“Albedo, so mean!” Kaeya pouts, lengthening his stride as well. Kaeya’s legs are way too long! Just a few steps and he’s already side by side with Albedo, who can only huff in exasperation before grudgingly slowing down to his normal walking pace again.
“You can sleep with Albedo!” Klee exclaims. It’s a great idea! Clearly Kaeya wants to spend more time with Albedo, like a good boyfriend, but Albedo needs to go to sleep for an early day tomorrow. Then, they can sleep together!
Albedo turns red and coughs quietly into his shoulder, while Kaeya actually blushes, shielding his face from view. Was it something that Klee said?
“...I wouldn’t be opposed. To literally sleeping together.” Albedo clarifies hastily when he sees Kaeya immediately turns towards him, eyes huge. Kaeya grins and throws an arm around Albedo’s waist, pulling him and Klee closer to himself.
“Then I’ll go ahead and consider myself part of the family.” Kaeya declares. He presses a kiss to Klee’s forehead, and then another one straight into Albedo’s lips. Albedo hums noncommittally, but Klee can see the corners of his mouth turn up the tiniest bit.
The mission was a huge success! It would seem that Klee has a new big brother.
